Marisol took the stairs up to the third floor two at a time. She was wearing all black as usual. A plain black short sleeved t-shirt and dark blue jeans. She had a book, Persuasions by Jane Austen, in her hand.
She looked down the hall way, then opened a door. It was devoid of any furniture, but the window was big, and plenty of sun shone through. She sat down on the floor and stared out. It was a perfectly sunny day, hardly any clouds at all.
She thought of Dev for a brief second. She hadn't seen him since the dance. Not surprised. I knew he only asked me to be nice. She glared at her moss-hued skin. Cursed...
If she didn't have green skin, she'd probably have friends. And possibly even a boyfriend. Possibly even Dev...
But then again, if she wasn't green she would possibly still be at home, and she'd never have met Dev in the first place. Though that might have been a good thing...
The teenage girl shook the thoughts out of her head and opened her book. She started reading, slowly becoming unaware of her surroundings altogether, and totally immersed in the words.
