Nakata Ishikawa stood on the roof of starlight academy. He often enjoyed being in high places because for the three powers that he had apparently awakened... or copied, he wasn't sure which, he hoped most desperately for flight. He had the sincerest desire to take to the sky and fly above the clouds. He looked out over the courtyard and the rest of the school and stepped onto the ledge and prepared to jump. Of course he wouldn't die from it, but it was still a thrill, his secret way to feel alive. With a deep breath, he took a leap of faith from the highest point in starlight academy.
————-
Zetsuhiro Kagerouryu had taken his teaching position at starlight academy to protect his son, and he was doing a perfectly good job of doing it from a distance, until he watched him jump off the roof of a building. Despite knowing about the fact that his son could heal from almost any injury, he felt the need to protect more than anything else and for that reason, tendrils of shadow suddenly reached out and enveloped him and pulled him back onto the roof. With that Zetsu stepped from the shadows, revealing himself to his son, and finally deciding to tell him about their power and its origins.
————
Naka stopped mid-drop and felt the reverse of gravity as he was pulled back to the roof. As he turned to see who had done this, he watched Professor Kagerouryu step out from the shadows. Professor Kagerouryu had been a tough instructor and he had been convinced that the man really didn't like him, plus he knew about his power. So why was he helping Naka in a way that was pretty pointless.
"Is there something wrong? You know I'm not going to die from that right?" He said in Japanese. Zetsu hesitated for a second before speaking but finally he had chosen his words.
"My apologies, it was instinct to try to protect my son." He replied. Naka stopped at that point and looked at him quizically.
"My father was killed in front of me. His name was-"
"Kaito Ishikawa, the acting dragon of the Oniwaban Yakuza group, and your mother Fheng Chi Hua Shaoma, a Triad defector and accountant for the financial department for the same Yakuza family. I know this because I was the Oyabun. I was forced to kill your mother to protect you, and left you in the care of my Dragon with instructions to raise you with training in martial arts and sword play with limited introduction to gun katas, and extensive learning of sciences, math, and survival training and for Kaito to teach you his power." Kagerouryu explained.
Nakata could only listen as he explained this to him. Father? It was true that of the powers that Kagerouryu Hakase (professor) did know more about what was going on with him than most seemed to. His explanations made sense, and he could see where his powers may have hailed from but where was the proof?
"Then why come to me now? Why didn't you help when they were killed in front of me?" He practically shouted. "What is your power?!? Apathy?!?" And now he was shouting, but Zetsu took it in his stride and listened to the venting.
"My power is the same as yours Nakata. You were named after the Nakatomi Ise shrine where I learned my first power 400 years ago. You can only copy one power from each person son, no matter if they have one hundred powers of their own. If that person is willing to teach you about their power though, they can share it with you, just as I'm going to share one of mine with you. I have much to explain, but before we start, I wish to tell you about the origins of our power..." Zetsuhiro started to explain.
