Nakata Ishikawa stood on the roof of starlight academy. He often enjoyed being in high places because for the three powers that he had apparently awakened... or copied, he wasn't sure which, he hoped most desperately for flight. He had the sincerest desire to take to the sky and fly above the clouds. He looked out over the courtyard and the rest of the school and stepped onto the ledge and prepared to jump. Of course he wouldn't die from it, but it was still a thrill, his secret way to feel alive. With a deep breath, he took a leap of faith from the highest point in starlight academy.

————-

Zetsuhiro Kagerouryu had taken his teaching position at starlight academy to protect his son, and he was doing a perfectly good job of doing it from a distance, until he watched him jump off the roof of a building. Despite knowing about the fact that his son could heal from almost any injury, he felt the need to protect more than anything else and for that reason, tendrils of shadow suddenly reached out and enveloped him and pulled him back onto the roof. With that Zetsu stepped from the shadows, revealing himself to his son, and finally deciding to tell him about their power and its origins.

————

Naka stopped mid-drop and felt the reverse of gravity as he was pulled back to the roof. As he turned to see who had done this, he watched Professor Kagerouryu step out from the shadows. Professor Kagerouryu had been a tough instructor and he had been convinced that the man really didn't like him, plus he knew about his power. So why was he helping Naka in a way that was pretty pointless.
"Is there something wrong? You know I'm not going to die from that right?" He said in Japanese. Zetsu hesitated for a second before speaking but finally he had chosen his words.
"My apologies, it was instinct to try to protect my son." He replied. Naka stopped at that point and looked at him quizically.
"My father was killed in front of me. His name was-"
"Kaito Ishikawa, the acting dragon of the Oniwaban Yakuza group, and your mother Fheng Chi Hua Shaoma, a Triad defector and accountant for the financial department for the same Yakuza family. I know this because I was the Oyabun. I was forced to kill your mother to protect you, and left you in the care of my Dragon with instructions to raise you with training in martial arts and sword play with limited introduction to gun katas, and extensive learning of sciences, math, and survival training and for Kaito to teach you his power." Kagerouryu explained.

Nakata could only listen as he explained this to him. Father? It was true that of the powers that Kagerouryu Hakase (professor) did know more about what was going on with him than most seemed to. His explanations made sense, and he could see where his powers may have hailed from but where was the proof?
"Then why come to me now? Why didn't you help when they were killed in front of me?" He practically shouted. "What is your power?!? Apathy?!?" And now he was shouting, but Zetsu took it in his stride and listened to the venting.
"My power is the same as yours Nakata. You were named after the Nakatomi Ise shrine where I learned my first power 400 years ago. You can only copy one power from each person son, no matter if they have one hundred powers of their own. If that person is willing to teach you about their power though, they can share it with you, just as I'm going to share one of mine with you. I have much to explain, but before we start, I wish to tell you about the origins of our power..." Zetsuhiro started to explain.

(OOC: This is my first time rp, so I apologize if it isn’t very good)

Miles started walking up the stairs to the roof and started thinking about how the school actually looked okay to stay at. He was hoping to get a good look at the school from the roof. Wondering about how the other people here had powers to he stuck out his hand and started to focus on his palm. A small flickering ball of flame appeared on it. Asking for directions to everywhere he would go would be bothersome. He rolled the ball of Flame around in his hands wondering how much he would get along with the other students here. Blowing out the flame in his hand he thought to himself how asking someone to show him around the school would go. Sighing he said out loud to himself “This is just going to get more and more stressful than I thought.” Reaching the door to the roof he out his hand to open when he heard someone was speaking. He decided to ask whoever it was to show him around the school. Opening the door he saw a man and a student talking to each other. He wasn't sure what was going on but he felt like he was interrupting something important. Turning to the man he said "I apoligize if I'm interuppting I'll take my leave if you want."

Interrupted... it seemed inevitable.
"You have much to think about son, I'll leave you to assist this student." Zetsu said as he walked back inside. As a teacher, he had obligations but if there was a student available that would be able to help or talk to he would have time to come back to it. That aside, he had left the sword that he planned on passing onto his son, back in his quarters so he figured it would be best to go back for it.
"I was just leaving." He said.

Miles turned to the kid that looked like he was around his own age “I’m Sorry for interrupting you guy’s conversation. I just came to this school and wanted to get a look at it from the top.” Miles walked over to him and looked around the ground at the school. Looking at the other kid Miles said “My name is Miles Newby and I heard this school was for people with all kinds of powers. So if that’s true what is your power and does that man have powers also? Does everybody just use their powers as they choose?” Pausing Miles considered that he was talking without letting him respond. Taking a breath Miles held out his hand offering a handshake and said “Normally I don’t talk this much. To get straight to the point what is your name and I was wondering if you could show me around the school sometime.” Miles tryed smiling hoping the kid wasn't angry about the conversation being interuppted. Looking at the situation he wouldn't be suprised if the kid did stat yelling at him.

[Elliot Hastings}

Elliot was hanging quietly off the rooftop, his hands holding onto the ledge. He wasn't wearing his thick heavy jacket, or his his hat, or any of the other things he had to wear during the day. A thin, black undershirt and a pair of loose sweatpants. His blonde hair was back, behind his head, his blue eyes looking out to the stars. He enjoyed rooftops, almost as much as bell towers. He heard somebody else on the roof. Whoever it was smelled, different, from the other people here. Then the boy jumped off the roof, on a portion away from where Elliot was. Elliot scrunched up his legs, and kicked up, landing on the roof.

"Fresh Meat?" Elliot said to himself, moving silently over to see what happened. The boy somehow survived, and was talking to one of the teachers. Elliot hated the teachers, they wasted his time. He HATED people who wasted his time.

They spoke for a time, and from the roof, Elliot could barely make out anything being spoken. Something about being related? Saving him from the fall? He didn't understand.

Then, somebody else showed up, and the teacher left. The boy seemed young, and foolish. Elliot watched as the boy raised his hand for a handshake, seeming quite scared.

"I'll give him a scare!" Elliot said, jumping off the rooftop, aiming to land between them.

Naka wasn’t irritated at all, since getting a better mastery of the English language and working on his pronunciation, he didn’t worry too much about having conversations in English.

”ret us answer your questions in order.” He started in English, his broken accent not showing remotely as much as it once was.
”We do, at least most of us, have powers. Mine… I’m still trying to work it out, but it appears to be the power to copy powers from other people. Most of us try to use our powers for good, not every student here is good. And my name, is Nakata Ishikawa. Would you care to teach me about your power?” (wirr because he still has a little bit of trouble with the letter “L”) He explained, ending it with the question, in part to test his theory as he shook Miles' hand.

So far, all of the powers he had ‘awakened’ so far had been discovered after people had tried to teach him about their powers. From that, he hoped to be able to establish not only what this guy could do, but to understand his own power at the same time. His though process was interrupted as he saw someone fall from the rooftop, but he ignored it for the time being. If they were spying they wouldn't have found anything of grave importance... at least, he didn't think so.

Putting his hand into his jacket pocket Miles considering that this guy was kind to him after the whole situation with the teacher decided that he might teach the kid what he knew about his powers so far. But, he would at least try to strike a deal with Nakata so he would be a little more prepared for this school. “I’ll teach you what I can about my powers but I want to see if there was something other than giving me a tour around the school you can do?” Miles had learned the basics of sword play while training with his father so he could use some of the weapons he could make. But he had never really gotten any hand to hand practice in. So even with his demon strength he couldn’t use it in a fight with someone who had been in a few fights.

“This school seems like it would have somebody who would be able to teach me hand to hand combat, I don’t know if I’ll need it or not but it’s good to be prepared. I’ll show you one of my powers right know and I can explain them to you while you help me out.” Miles reaching for the inner energy that he associated with his power Miles grew two black scaly wings. “I’ll meet you down there.” Miles said to Nakata while turning to jump off the building and using his wings to slow his descent.

Naka jumped off the roof, landing on the ground and busting his knee caps painfully, but after less than a minute of sitting on the ground they were fine once again. It was the first power he had apparently copied. He had spontaneous cellular regeneration. He healed very very quickly, healing super fast from most injuries. He could have used one of the other powers that he had copied to get to the ground without the injury, but thus far he was mildly concerned about that being somewhat disconcerting for the new guy as well.
"The jump was unnecessary. I can teach you hand to hand technique, but my training is a rittir bit hard." He explained. It seemed a fitting trade, confirmation of his theory in exchange for combat training.

“Sorry about that,” Miles scratching an itch on the inside of his wing his wing, “haven’t really gotten to use my wings in a while and I got caught up in the moment.” Miles retracted his wings in and looked at Nakata. “I can do the training and i'll put forth some effort into it. I just hope you’re not as much of a demon as my dad when it comes to training.” Looking at Nakata spontaneously heal Miles said “So you can heal to, does your power come from either one of your parent also? My powers come from the demon blood from my father. It comes in handy when in a pinch.” Miles hoped Nakata didn’t think that all demons were evil. They just tend to be called up by people who wanted to use them for evil. Thinking about his powers Miles realized he forgot about asking about his weapons. “Is there a blacksmith anywhere near here? One of my powers involves making weapons, but I’d need to get materials.”

Naka realized when he heard demon that this kid was an extraplanar creature, something Alistair had told him about, but he furthered his thinking about it.
"I think it's one that I copied, but i did get it from my father. He was telling my about how his power worked or what it did. I think that might be a key. Anyway, i'll train you like my father trained me. There's a chance you'll die, but if you survive you'll be much better off for it." He explained. It wasn't really a matter of survivability. He would take him to the forbidden forest when it was time, it would serve as a good training ground when it got down to it, but right now he had information.
"Tell me about your father and more about your powers, as for materials, I have an item you might be able to work with." He suggested, interested in learning about this kid's weapon crafting.
