The tensions like a fire

Gabe reached the courtyard panting and drenched in his own sweat. There were beads rolling off his forehead and his hair was stuck to it. It wasn't a pretty sight but at the moment he couldn't really bring himself to care. He rested his hands on his knees and bent over trying to cause his ragged breathing to return to normal.

Even though he was quite fit, it had been a long enough run to catch up with William and the heat hadn't helped at all. He couldn't even understand how William had gotten this far ahead of him.

After Bill had left the café, Gabe had let out a long loud groan before running out of the place without a second glance at August or Sebastian. He hadn't even cared about the waiter who wondered where they were going and who was going to pay for the food.

"Bill, wait up," Gabe panted, running over to the boy. "Please. We have to talk about this, we can't just leave it like that...." He put a hand on his boyfriend's shoulder to stop him walking off. Poor Gabe just wanted to make things right. He knew he messed up majorly by not taking Bill's side against Sebastian. He wanted to try redeem himself and regain the boy's trust.

<div align=center>The younger boy stopped dead and whirled around, judging by the look on his face, this wasn't about to be the regular hissy-fit that Gabe experienced that could be quelled with a few sweet words and a bribe. William was angry. It was rare for the boy to get angry, at least, seriously anyway. But there were storm clouds practically cracking above his head, and if the lightening hadn't struck yet, it was just about to. "Would you leave me alone?!" He snarled, his hand darting out to smack the one that Gabriel had touched him with away, "get the hell off of me!" He scowled hard, fire welling up in his eyes. "I hope you're fucking happy!"

William would have much preferred to be in the company of August right now, he needed to talk to him, and Gabe's outburst in the middle of the café hadn't exactly helped the situation. Coming after Bill was perhaps the worst thing he could do right now, it was better to let him cool off and then talk it out later. Unfortunately, it looked like things weren't about to turn out that way. Redemption was like Australia to Gabe right now, the other side of the world. William was about to give him absolute hell and there was no way Gabriel would be able to worm his way out of the boy's wrath.

"You're an idiot!" He clenched his fists and stamped a foot, "an idiot! I can't believe you. I really can't. Though then again how could I ever think that there was even a little bit of intelligence in that over-inflated, egotistical head of yours!?"</div>

Gabe was smart enough to know that everything was miles away from being alright. He knew the second he saw the anger blazing in William's eyes that this was going to go way further south than he had ever imagined was possible.

Gabe drew his band back as if he had just been bitten. The smack itself hadn't hurt so much as the intention behind it. Gabe frowned as William told him to go away. Usually he might try and plead with the boy, or do whatever he thought would appease Bill but this time he was going to stand his ground. He folded his arms, "No. I'm not leaving. Not 'till we talk this through."

"I'm not happy, not one bit. " Gabriel snapped, getting progressively more annoyed about the fact that William had decided to blame this on him . He knew he had made some mistakes but it wasn't as if he was the one who had kissed somebody else! "That's why I fucking ran all the way after you," Gabe scowled, "to try and make things right. But you're not even going to listen to a word I say are you?!"

Poor Gabriel hadn't realised when he'd first decided to go after William what kind of hell he'd be in for. But the penny had definitely dropped now. He suddenly gulped realising he had just snapped at William and that was definitely not going to help redeem himself. Then again did I ever have a chance to begin with? Gabe laughed out loud, the sort of laugh someone might make if they were trapped on a ship that was going to sink and they knew they were going to die.

"Actually how fucking dare you? " Gabe's voice was dangerously cold, and blunt. "Do you think if I was an idiot I would have realised I made a mistake? If I was an idiot I wouldn't have come after you into the bathroom, I would have just left the building. "

Or maybe I am an idiot for coming after him. What do they say again? 'People do stupid things for love'. And really that was the main reason Gabe had come out after William, even if it wasn't the smartest decision it was the one that he thought might save their relationship. It was the one he had chosen because he was in love with William. It was just completely unfortunate that William couldn't see that.

<div align=center>All of a sudden the wind seemed to drop, and the world went dead around them. Even the birds stopped singing, and suddenly the atmosphere was ten times worse than it had been a minute ago. The only trace of emotion on William's face was the storm blazing in his eyes, other than that nothing. He was completely calm. Or so it seemed at least. "That's enough." He stated. When Gabriel spoke again William wanted nothing more than to watch him leave the scene on a stretcher, his face remained expressionless, or in a hearse. William wasn't the strongest physically, but who knew what was going on in his head?

"If you were an idiot you'd be standing here right now trying to beg my forgiveness." He paused for a moment, an eyebrow flickering up, "oh wait... That's exactly what you are doing." He locked his eyes onto the older boy's and stared him down. Gabriel was making a scene, ordinarily William would have been embarrassed by this, but right now he was too angry to even care what everyone else thought of them. This argument wasn't about to end well. It didn't take a genius to realize that.

William had left mainly because he didn't want to deal with Gabe. He couldn't be bothered to deal with him and William supposed all he'd have to do was let him wear himself out by yelling and making a scene here. He didn't like it when Gabe acted all high and mighty. How fucking dare you? His brow furrowed, he didn't like that. His hand went out and grabbed a handful of Gabe's shirt, yanking him to his level and glaring at him. "You're making a scene." The boy hissed, "now you're making yourself look even more like an idiot."</div>

Gabe was fully aware that there was no way out of this. He was also completely certain that William was far from calm, no matter how skillful the boy was at pulling a poker face.

All of a sudden Gabe could feel fear coursing through his veins, weighing him down. He could feel his heartbeat speeding up, as if it were on overdrive. He didn't think he'd ever felt afraid of his boyfriend before. He had often felt a little bit apprehensive at how William might react to things but usually it was manageable.

However right now there were memories flooding back to Gabriel about William telling him that he had drove a boy insane, nearly killed him. He had done the same to Gabriel's friend but he had stopped before it had gotten past the point of no return. Before today Gabe had never believed that William would turn on him, he'd always been comforted by the thought that the boy loved him too much to do that.

The manner in which William was glaring at him in suggested that the boy would very much like to kill Gabriel right now. Gabe had the impression that William wasn't just angry; William despised him. In fact him thinking that William hated his guts right now would most likely be an understatement .

Sure William was not physically strong enough to fight Gabriel. In a physical fight Gabe would definitely win, if he wanted to. But mentally William could ruin Gabe within a few minutes. That thought freaked Gabe out very very much at the moment.

Gabe knew he was making a scene; he simply couldn't give two fucks at the moment. He had known that snapping at William would only make things worse but he hadn't cared. Things had already gone too deep once this argument had began in the courtyard, at least in Gabe's eyes. So he'd decided to stop tiptoeing around Bill and just get things off his chest. Now he was going to have to deal with the consequences of that.

"You'd rather I'd just left you alone? " Gabe couldn't wrap his head around that one. With previous experiences the worst thing to do was to leave William alone, as the boy craved attention and hated to be ignored. So Gabe had incorrectly assumed that this situation would be the same. Perhaps he should have thought about it more before running headfirst into it, but that was Gabe's problem he didn't think before acting.

Usually Gabe loved to be close to William, it was when he felt safest and most comfortable. But when the boy yanked Gabe towards him, Gabe felt the polar opposite of safe. "I don't care. According to you I'm already an idiot anyway, what difference does it make how much of one I am? " Gabe gulped and dropped his eyes from William's glare. He couldn't take it.

<div align=center>Gabriel's wave of fear hit William like a wall, and it felt good. It felt so good. William was a good boy, he was sweet and good natured. But right now that cute little kid had been replaced with a murderous psychopath. He liked the way Gabe squirmed under his gaze, he liked it when he could see the sweat bead on his forehead. A wide smile spread across the boy's features, and he laughed. "Not left alone, no." He returned softly, "I just don't want to be around you." He stated, as if that was obvious right now.

William's smile only grew as Gabe tried so desperately to avert his gaze from him. He'd never seen the older boy frightened before, but at this point it felt good. He liked to see Gabriel in such a vulnerable state that he was practically shaking because of something he was doing. William rarely had the upper hand in things, and to feel power was the best thing in the world to him right now. "What difference would it make?" The boy asked, pushing Gabriel away again and turning his back on him. He shrugged, not much, really, though Gabriel hadn't actually apologized yet - not that William was likely to accept it. Of course Bill was in the wrong too, but at this moment in time there was absolutely no way William would be willing to accept that fact. Besides, it was an accident.

Therefore it was Gabriel's fault. In William's eyes this was all Gabe's fault. "Would you rather I just didn't have any friends?" He asked, head snapping back to look at the Latino again. "Alright. I'll do what you want. I'll break off all ties with everyone I know but you. Treat me like a God damn prisoner, why don't you. You'd love that wouldn't you? Free to have me without your stupid fucking jealousy issues getting in the way."</div>

Normally hearing a laugh out of William and receiving a smile would be a sign that Gabe had taken the correct turn but this time it only caused to root the fear even deeper. It was extremely worrying to see how much William was enjoying the feeling of terror that was engulfing poor Gabriel.

'I just don't want to be around you . ' Gabe physically winced as William spoke those cruel words; it was like he'd been stung. It was a blow that Gabe probably deserved, considering the circumstances. But that didn't stop the fact that it hurt .

Gabe hated the fact that William held all the power in this situation. He despised it with every fibre of his being but there was nothing Gabe could do to change it. It was true that he could apologise, although he didn't think it'd help at all. He hadn't gotten the chance to apologise yet anyway, and it felt too late to say it now. In Gabe's eyes coming after William had been a sign that he was sorry, although William was clearly not under the same illusion.

When his boyfriend pushed him away Gabe almost let out a quiet sigh of relief. It felt just a little bit safer to not be so close to him right now. Unfortunately he barely had time to exhale before William rounded on him again. If Gabe had believed things couldn't get any worse, he had been very very wrong.

"What the hell?! Is this what this is about?" Gabe did not like what he was being accused of one bit. Of course he didn't mind William having friends, he was fine with that. But to him it seemed like August and William had been getting on far better than people who were just friends would. "I'm fine with you having friends. What I'm not fine with is you kissing said friends, <i> on the lips </i>!"

"And I realised afterwards that it was an accident and you didn't mean to do it and that's why I wanted to come after you to apologise for giving out. " Gabe continued, "I'm sorry I caused a scene in the restaurant and I know that is why you think I'm such a jealous bastard but maybe if you could try and put yourself in my situation you'd see why I reacted like that? " Gabe shook his head, there was no way William was going to be able to see where Gabe was coming from.

" That's not what I want and you fucking know it. " Gabe snapped, " I'm not like that I'm not I'm not...." Gabe trailed off. He was extremely possessive but he wouldn't admit that even to himself so there was no chance he'd say it out loud.

<div align=center>"Goodbye Gabriel." William stated softly, turning away again, making a move to leave the area. "I'm done with you." Whether that meant right now, or done with him entirely, it wasn't clear. Though the way William was behaving suggested that it might have been the latter, "that's it. I'm completely done. I'm sick of you messing up all the time. All you ever do is hurt me and piss me off. So sorry. I'm done with you." That was right, wasn't it? William's mind flickered back for a moment to think of everything Gabe had actually done. Of course, they weren't all tremendously awful, but all added up... William was sick of it. The only way to stop all that was to get rid of the root of the problem.

Though of course this was just William's mind working in it's fit of anger, Gabe didn't really do all that much wrong, and if he did he made up for it, didn't he? "Since you obviously seem to think I'm engaged in some steamy affair with August." The boy didn't even glance back to look at Gabriel, "it won't matter if I am now, right? You don't trust me either way. I don't want to be with someone that doesn't trust me." He told him.

"Bye Gabriel. I'm through with you. Go find someone else to run to for sex when you get bored, or whatever. You obviously don't think I'm good enough for you so there. Get out of here. I don't want you." He spat, "I'm sure it'll be easy for someone with as much intelligence and charm as you to find another boyfriend, girlfriend. I don't even know what you're into." He flicked a strand of hair behind his shoulder and pushed off from the ground, leaving Gabriel alone where he was standing.</div>

"Goodbye? What do you mean goodbye ?" Gabe asked infuriated. They were in the middle of a conversation here, if you could call being snarky and cruel to each other a conversation, and William was just going to leave?

"You're done with me? As in you're breaking up with me?" Gabe began to feel the fear disappearing, it was being replaced with something else. A negative emotion that he couldn't quite figure out. He couldn't properly process what was going on right now, it all felt like some sort of bad dream. Oh how he wished that were true.

"What the fuck?" Gabe wondered at William's reasonings. "Yeah there's been times I fucked up but you've fucked up a load of times too, it takes two to tango after all. " Gabe was ready to pull his own hair out as William continued on, not paying any heed to Gabriel.

It wasn't that Gabe didn't trust William, it was more that Gabe thought William was naive and innocent when it came to relationships and that some people would take advantage of that. But he didn't see the use in explaining that to the boy now, and besides William was already making way to leave.

And that was that, Gabriel was left alone in the courtyard after getting his heart stomped on by William Beckett. He wanted to scream, but he wouldn't give up his last shred of dignity. "Well fuck you too . He mumbled out loud, though there was no one close enough to hear him.
