It was a completely average day in the Starlight Academy Cafeteria. The hall of tables and food was hustling and bustling of students. Everywhere you looked you could see something interesting. If you looked to the soda machine you could see a pair of harpies talking to a lizard boy. Looked near the windows you could see a creature made completely out of plants sunning itself.

And if you looked to a small table in the corner of the room, you could find a pair of goblins eating. Rum and Coke, two of the newer students on the island.

"Cmoooon bro, let me have the salt. I neeeeeed it. Don't I Sarsaparilla?" Rum paused a moment, before she nodded to herself. "See? Sarsaparilla agrees! Give it up coke."

The salt-shaker was currently embedded into the table, the glass container seemingly melted into the wooden surface.

"If I give you the saltshaker then you're just going to take it apart again Rum." Her brother said, chewing on his sandwich and flipping through a book on theater.

"No I wooo-"

"Yes you will Rum. I know you will."

The goblin girl pouted, grumbling. "But I neeed it for my noodles!"

Without saying a word, the saltshaker rose up from the table, still in the grasp of the table. The table itself shrunk slightly as the wooden arm rose up to pour a bit of salt onto Rums noodles. She pouted, narrowing her eyes at her bro.

"...I know Sarsaparilla, he is being very snarkastic right now."

"Use either Snarky or Sarcastic Rum."

"You aren't my mom! Tell him Sarsaparilla!"

Coke rolled his eyes at his sisters antics. They certainly were making a scene. It helped that there were only two other seats at the small table. Nobody wanted to sit next to them. Would someone dare to sit next to these strange goblins? Only time would tell.

Cheeto and Dorito, both almost joined at the waste, moved through the cafeteria. Cheeto had gotten herself a mix of healthier foods, mashed potatoes and string beans and some fish in lemon and lentils. Her sister, however, was more than happy to load up on less healthy fare, richer foods and sweets covering her tray. The mystery of Dorito's metabolism, in contrast to her twin sister's, had left a sliver of madness burning in the back Cheeto's mind.

As the two of them weaved and skulked through the various people of the cafeteria, Dorito suddenly stopped. Cheeto reacted a few seconds later, turning to look where her sister was staring. It was a shock to both of them, and Dorito had to move to catch Cheeto's tray when she let go of it in surprise and disbelief.

Goblins. Other goblins.

There was a rush through the two of them, their twinned minds racing. Cheeto took her tray back from Dorito, and the two nodded reassuringly to each other. A sense of otherworldly fear and nostalgia had gripped them both, Cheeto surprised that more of their race had come to Manta Carlos, and Dorito feeling that their celebrity as the only two goblins on the island had been compromised. In an almost matter-of-fact manner, Cheeto and Dorito sat with Rum and Coke. They didn't say anything, not at first, they simply started eating.

Rum was the first to notice Cheeto and Dorito sitting down at the table she and her brother were inhabiting. She stared, her wide eyes growing even wider as she observed the pair. She turned to her brother and rapidly tapped at Cokes sleeve.

"Coke!Cokecokecoke! Loooook! Lookie look! Sarsaparilla and I found more goblins! Look!"

She was very excited about meeting other goblins, pointing at the sisters now sitting across the table from the pair. She'd never met another goblin save for her own family before, it was quite a notable event for the mad little demogoblin.

Coke looked up from his book, raising an eyebrow as he took in the Lovis sisters. He nodded respectfully and finished chewing the bite of sandwich in his mouth before he gave a short wave.

"Hello there. Nice to see other goblins around."

His voice was an exact opposite to his sisters. While Rum spoke loud and quickly, Coke was much more calm.

"Yeah! Nice too meetcha! Can you pass the sa-"

"Please don't give my sister any salt."

Coke cut off Rum's request, frowning at his sister. "I'm Coke Hackworth. This is my sister Rum. It's nice to meet you both." He continued, smiling softly.

Cheeto had just picked up the salt shaker, slowly leaning towards Rum, but she flinched and pulled back as soon as Coke cut Rum off, giving the warning. Dorito looked up, smiling in a warm, almost familiar way at both of them. "Thanks for the heads up. Allergies?" Dorito spoke between mouthfuls of food, Cheeto, on the other hand, smiled at Rum and Coke nervously, a mix of emotions playing over her face. Excitement, elation, nostalgia, yet some anxiety and hesitation.

"I'm... Cheeto, Cheeto Lovis, this is my sister Dorito." Her voice shook a bit as she spoke, as though she was having trouble keeping her volume in check or not having her voice break and squeak awkwardly. "It's been years since the last time we saw other goblins..." Dorito picked up the conversation, Cheeto's voice chiming in as though part of the same sentence, before Dorito even finished. "...Other goblins, so this is pretty crazy for us. You don't look like Black Forest goblins, so where..." Once again one of them drowned out, the other picking up where the first left off. "...So where are you from? And when can you come back to our dorm for pizza and beer?"

Dorito gave a small grin as Cheeto quickly looked between Dorito and their two new friends, her expression one of surprise and worry.

Coke shook his head, indicating that Dorito was incorrect in the assumption that his request to not allow his sister possession of the saltshaker was simply allergies. He freed the shaker from the table as Cheeto went to pick it up, the small hole in the wood resealing as the shaker left it.

"No. She wants to seperate the sodium out of it so she can enhance some of her explosives." He said quite matter-of-factly, taking another bite of his sandwich.

Rum pouted, slurping up some of her noodles with an annoyed look on her face. She rolled her eyes and glared at her brother.

"That is not true!" She argued against him, cracking open her can of soda. "I was going to use it to season my noodles, and then make explosives...I know Sarsaparilla, brother dearest doesnt know the difference between enhance and create. He is silly, you're right."

She continued to talk to herself as she took a sip of her drink, turning her attention to the other goblins at the table. Coke sighed and listened to Cheeto and Dorito politely, smiling. He was relieved to meet other goblins honestly, he was tired of the constant barrage of short jokes from the other races on the island.

"A pleasure to meet you both. We haven't seen any other goblins either, not since we left home."

"Yeah!" The crazed goblin said, her eyes shifting from Dorito to Cheeto. "Not since dad died!"

He exclamation hung in the air for a bit before Coke coughed, clearing the air. "Yeah. We're from the states, we-"

Cokes explanation was cut off by his sister yelling, banging a fist on the table.

"Rocky Mountain Goblins Rep! Re! Sent!"

She cackled, a few people turning to look at the quartet of goblins. A tendril of wood rose from the table to smack Rum in the forehead before sinking back into the table.

"Rum, please. First impressions." He chided, before pondering the invitation. "Well, I've finished all my scenery for the week...Rum would probably just ignore whatever work she has regardless."

He thought for a second, tapping the table.

"We're pretty free, I guess. Just please don't give my sister any alcohol."

Rum whine at hearing that. "But Cooooooke! Why not?"

"Last time you had any form of alcohol you set one of the Barracks on fire."

Rum blinked, cocking her head to the side. "Oooh yeah...That was fun!"

She began to laugh madly, cackling at the memory.

While Cheeto seemed far more concerned, both with Coke's introduction to his power and with Rum's exuberance, Dorito was just smiling softly. "So nothing flammable for Rum here? " The two goblins were focused, but in different ways. Cheeto seemed to be processing everything that Rum and Coke had said, dealing with the revelation of their deceased father, of Rum's seemingly imaginary friend, their place of origins... "I didn't know there were goblins in the Rocky Mountains." Dorito smiled and nodded. "Yeah, that's a bit of a surprise. A happy one, though."

Cheeto looked at Rum. "Gotta have a good mind for chemistry if you've got... a hobby like that." She paused a bit, carefully trying to pick the right words. However, Dorito simply tilted her head at Coke. "So, your dorms or ours?" She didn't seem deterred by the dangerous nature of Rum, simply enjoying the presence of her own kind. "You can show us how Rocky Mountain Goblins party."

Coke nodded and finished his sandwich as he listened to Dorito, Rum pouting at his response.

"Nothing flammable or composed of anything explosive, for everyones sake."

Rum rolled her eyes at her brothers words, turning her head slightly and jabbing a thumb at him.

"I know, right? No fun at all...That's what I said!" There she went, talking to her imaginary friend once more. Such an odd one, this Rum girl. Coke nudged his sister, and she turned her attention back to the twins in front of them. "Yeah! It's really cool! Kinda cold, way more different than here." She prattled off, excited. Coke nodded in affirmation.

"Yes, it's taken some getting used to being down here. We went from being in the mountains to an island, the difference in oxygen levels alone is an interesting change." He chuckled and Rum began to nod, locking eyes with Cheeto. "Yeah! Explosives are great! More engineering than Chemistry but I know lotsa stuff about elements and junk!" She nodded rapidly as she spoke, excited to be sharing her hobby with another goblin.

On the calmer spectrum of the goblins at the table, Coke was thinking. "I can't remember if our dorm has been cleaned yet, Rum destroyed our microwave again-"

"Hey! I didn't destroy it, the gunpowder did."

"Yes, but you put Gunpowder in the microwave."

"Well, Sarsaparilla said it'd be a good experiment and it was so Bleh!"

Rum stuck her tongue out at her brother, crossing her arms as he sighed. It was obvious their dorm wasn't inhabitable for the foreseeable future. "If you want to hang out in a dorm, it might be best to play the hosts, my apologies." Coke sighed, shrugging.

Dorito continued to focus entirely on Coke, having already decided to let Cheeto handle Rum from this point onwards. This, like all of the two girls' plans, will inevitably fail, but Cheeto did find Rum fascinating. She represented a challenge and an allure to Cheeto, could she mange Rum's chaos while similarly learning a bit more about chemistry from her? Dorito responded to Rum with a small shrug and a friendly smile. "That's what I had in mind, we've already got the place set up for guests." She reached into her pocket, pulling out her phone and rattling off her contact info to Coke absent-mindedly. "We can do this on the weekend, I know a great place with 24 hour pizza delivery, so we can go pretty late if you'd like."

Cheeto, on the other hand, watched Rum and tilted her head, her eyes checking for Sarsaparilla as though she was somehow able to detect a hint of the seemingly imaginary friend. "Y-Y'know, I know a few places around the island where we can set off some explosives, if you'd like." She fidgeted a bit, worrying about the repercussions of encouragement in regards to high explosives, but felt it would be acceptable if it was in a large, open, controlled environment.

"Aaaaanyways, We'll see you this weekend?" Dorito stood up, her meal finished as she smiled to Rum and Coke. "Goblins only?" She gave a conspiratorial wink with those words, looking at Rum and Coke and lingering as Cheeto got up and began to clear both her tray and her sister's.
