He saw the change. It was like watching a door slam shut. But he didn't change his face at all, gold eyes still glittering. He didn't blame her for it, since he'd done the same thing. A little less noticable, perhaps, due to all of his years of hiding, but he'd done it. He also noticed her vague reply about forgetting things, and the curious part of him urged him to ask further into the subject, but the smart part of him told him to change the subject. So he decided to be smart, and smoothely changed the subject.

"So, you've fought long. Obviously, swords are your preferred weapon, which kind do you like? Long Sword, Broad sword, Rapier, Katana?" he asked easily, not really thinking about the fact that he had just showed that he had a good knowledge of weapons. Pop had always been good at training him in everything.

A part of her guard softened at the mention of weapons, she loved weapons. "Hmm.. My favorite would be the Katana, but they all are quite unique weapons. I guess, but a lot of sword styles need certain swords because of technics, mine uses mainly Katanas. But as with any other swordsman their strikes may not be as accurate when using a different sword." She hadn't opened up as much as before, but she at least opened up on one topic.

Swords didn't make her look all that girlish and weak. Swords were much more strong and interesting then girlish things. She hoped she didn't seem too girlish because of all she talked about earlier. She didn't really want to always be dressed like a man. But she didn't want to be treated lesser or like a weakling in a fight and then have people say they weren't giving their all because she was a girl. She wanted to be both feminine and a swordsman, but she knew men didn't repect a female swordsman as well as a male one. She also figured her chance of getting a boyfriend was slim, so she decided to stay single.

She still had that feminine look in her eyes, but somehow it was different. More strong yet still soft, that was her problem with her eyes. She hated that no matter what they usually looked kind and soft and sweet.

He was most definately curious about this one. She was very complex. It was a challenge, since he was so used to having people down after the first hour of knowing them. Suddenly, his fingers were itching for his guitar. He pondered bringing it here, and he glanced at his fingers, the tips calloused from playing guitar so much, then back up at Fia from beneath his eyebrows, pondering if she'd think he was weak.

He mentally hit himself upside the head for thinking as such. He was slipping, and he didn't like it. It wasn't the norm. He didn't like what forcing his guard down was doing for him. So he made up his mind, and the guitar appeared, he caught it easily, adjusting his position so that he could hold it more comfortably. He plucked a few experimental notes, checking the tone of the guitar to see if it was in tune. It was a little off, since teleporting did that sometimes, and he adjusted it accordingly.

He glanced up at her again. "Do you mind?" he asked, question her if she minded if he played his guitar while they chatted.

She saw his guitar appear and she looked at it admiring it's shine. She noticed his calloused fingers. "Wow.... You play? The captain loved music, he especially loved guitars and bangos." Her guard lowwered a bit more, not leaving completely because she didn't want to lose her head. But in a comfortably lower amount, she couldn't believe that this guy played the guitar and fought as well as he did. He made her think of the captain, she wondered why he was so much like him.

"Do you mind?"

She shook her head, "Not at all!" She looked at the instrument thinking about how after every good looting they'd have a celebration. And the captain would break out his guitar, she loved the guitar herself, it always reminded her of captain when he was happy. "I haven't heard the guitar since the day before Captain died."

He smiled lightly. A specific smile that rarely happened, but it showed a small dimple in his left cheek. Yup. She was definately a complex one. It would take him a while to figure her out, but he'd do it eventually.

He plucket a slightly spanish tune in his guitar. It wasn't chords, but single notes. It was a fast paced song, and his fingers nearly flew along the guitar's neck, hitting the memorized places. He wasn't looking at his guitar, but rather at her, and he grinned. "What kind of music do you like?" he asked her, the timing on his song not even going off. He didn't miss a note, or a beat as he played, not once looking down.

Pop's right hand man had taught him this one. It was for a Mexican dance. They'd showed him the dance once. It was amazing.

She smiled, she didn't usually act so friendly. She found herself being slowly won over by his odd charm, she listened to him as he began to play on the guitar. She thought about the nights on the pirate ship that the captain would play a soft tune looking out at the endless sea on the horizon. The sea air and how captain died before giving his name to another. She had asked the captain if she could take his name when she was younger. She remembered his words, "Nope, once you can beat me then you can have it."

She looked down thinking about how because of the marines she'd never have a real last name. Areli was something Captain made up for her special, he never told her what it meant. She later found out it meant brave, she smiled as the fast paced guitar music played. It made her begin to wonder, was this boy the captain? She knew it was impossible but he seemed so much like him to her. Even his small dimple, she didn't understand why he resembled him so much.

The music was cheery, her spirits lifted, but a quiet part of her felt confused and spellbound. She held a bit of her guard mainly because if she let it fall she'd seem way too feminine and then she wouldn't be able to not have that emotionless look in a fight. She just smiled her eyes sparkled slightly from the music, she pictured the ship and the crew and the night's beauty and then instead of the captain there was the young Ren plucking at his guitar. She remembered how captain would dance with her when Jackline would play the accordin. She had a far off look on her face.

"What kind of music do you like?"

"Oh um... Music... Well, I only know pretty much seafaring songs and some other songs from here and there. I've been on sea most of the time travel here and there, I'm more for well... Truthfully I'm clueless as to what to call it. I guess something like your playing, I've heard songs a lot simular to that. And a slower song." She thought thinking about the song Captain always plucked on his guitar when the night was clear and all was well.

He felt bad to drag her up from a good memory, but he was glad when she spoke again. Once she was finished speaking, he grinned. "Truth be told, I don't know what it's called either. I just learned it on the ranch I used to work on. Most of the songs there are passed on by ear." he finished the song with a solid strum, and smiled, allowing the music to fade, making no move to stop the strings from vibrating.

He sifted through all the songs he knew to find another good one, and found one that was smoothe and mellow. It'd been Ramon's favourite song to play around the fire after a long day of cattle driving. It was mellow, all the notes made to blend into eachother like water, and while it gave the feeling of slowness, his fingers moved quickly along the guitar neck still. They'd done duets, Ramon and him, one playing the melody, and the other playing the harmony. It had been beautiful.

She smiled, watching him as he played and then as he stopped. "I guess no name can truely fit it, I mean if it was just classed as some other music no one would remember the memories you get listening to it. Or at least the same way you get listening to it on a guitar." She said him, pronouncing guitar differently this time without intending to. ((Git-ar))

She smiled as he started playing again, she watched his movements. Entranced by the pure beauty of his playing of the instrument. He was playing a smooth mellow sound, she smiled loving the tune. She had never ever since she was younger heard the guitar played so beautifully. She looked at him wondering why he had infact even broke out his guitar. She didn't care much for the occaison she liked the music a lot. Her eyes sparkling girlishly at the music, if she knew this she would've immediately stopped enjoying the music so much.

He nodded in agreement, feeling the peace of his music wash over him. He just had no ability to sit still and be peaceful in silence and in stillness. He needed somthing to do with his hands. And his guitar worked perfectly.

"Do you play any instruments?" he asked her suddenly, after a few minutes of silence. His voice was quiet and low, almost blending into the music. It was automatic, since he didn't want to startle her, not that she could be startled. Mostly, he just didn't want to break the peace of the night. Or rather, morning.

"Do you play any instruments?"

She smiled, "I tried the guitar once, but Captain and the crew agreed I needed something less um... stringy." She said with a chuckle, "So they one time robbed a rich pompus of a musician and they went through just about every instrument. They decided that since I was still little then that a smaller instrument would be best and they gave me a harmonica. I'm not as good as some but it's nice when your bored and stuff."

She chuckled, "When they gave it to me after I insisted on the guitar they had to put it lightly on me because of my insistant murmerings of I wish I had a guitar instead. But now that I think back surely Captain was right, I haven't skill in guitar." She said with a light smile, her eyes gaining a look of a girl of many adventures.

She was still ready to put the guard up if she felt needed, but she felt she was safe to let it down as far as she did with this company. She knew it was much lower then average, but this boy seemed trustworthy and understanding enough. She didn't want to make a habit out of letting her guard down, but maybe this one would be a exception.
