The bright summer sun beamed down upon the blonde haired runner as the droplets of sweat fell from his face. His arms moving in front and behind him as he moved faster and faster the sweat starting to grow stronger as he made his way around the track multiple times. His red and white sneakers slammed on the track as he ran, his eyes squinting as his gaze brushed past the sun up at the very apex of its trip through the sky.

Sebastian had been at the academy for three years now, though he had made some acquaintances and people he could talk to if need be he had still never really made any friends. Though that wasn't the fault of others as he had been called upon multiple times to hang out or even just talk but since his childhood stopped and he was forced to fend for himself, the young werewolf had never really been able to open up to anyone else about his wants or needs.

Thus, whenever he felt as though he wanted to talk to someone or just think about his problems, the open track of the field or even the path he had mentally made through the forest was his solace... But maybe, maybe it was time to stop being so secluded from the rest of the world... He had seen many things happen at the academy, some good and some bad but most of all he simply stayed in the background, not wanting to get involved in anything that could make him lose something.

There was something about long-distance trail running that made it so enticing, and it wasn't just about the runner's high. There was something in the rhythm of it that was calming, comforting even, the slaps of rubber soles against rough terrain or grass or the material of a running track, the controlled pattern of inhaling and exhaling, the path slowly unfolding in front of him.

Theo had been a cross-country runner since he was in year 7. It had always been his hobby. The solitude of it was particularly enticing. He simply mentally blocked out the other runners besides him and pretended he was wounding around the lake path. He got some good results thanks to that, pretending he was alone.

Now, in this new place, the best thing to do was maybe to run. The track was a standard 400 metre and the weather was a little warmer than usual, but he didn't mind. It was a place to run. There was another person on the tracks - another young man. Soon, he fell into step with him.

"Hey." Theo said.

Sebastian ran this track every single day, he occasionally found someone who he could race or even have a chat to after their run was over but still every time someone caught up to him... The instincts of the young werewolf were to run faster, having lived his life on the run for the longest time there were some things he just couldn't forget. But the feeling of having someone following him, breathing down his neck as he tried to get away still scared him to the bone.

Turning quickly to look at where the voice came from, Sebastian tensed slightly as if ready to strike but also moving to the side to keep a distance between himself and the new figure on the track. The man beside him was a few inches taller than himself, though the boy didn't look to be much older than him if even the same age as he was. He wasn't big in the slightest and upon further investigation of his looks, Sebastian started to calm down and smile.

"Hey..." He would then turn back to facing straight ahead, keeping up the pace to stay in line with the new person but still keeping up the speed if need be if this race turned into a sprint.

The young man he had just greeted seemed slightly uncomfortable. Theo understood that reaction. While he tried to be nice to everybody, trusting was not something that came easily to a lot of people. Some people just wanted to be alone. Still, though, this person didn't seem to have bad intentions. Theo kept a little to the side and continued to keep up the pace. It was an easy pace for him.

Theo returned the smile when the young man smiled at him. That was good, a first step in getting to know him. The young man was quite fit, and about Theo's age. He looked a bit younger, maybe, and he was a couple inches shorter as well.

"You come here often?" Theo said, then added, "I'm Theo. What's your name?"

If there was one thing Thorn hated more than her previous life, it was getting lost. She had done loads of running and walking and searching this day, which made her awfully tired. After the first few runs, the weather seem a bit too hot, and her throat was aching for some water. Still, she decided not to ask anyone anything, since she doesn't trust even a single petal of rose in this world. She had been born and grew up in a different world...a darker one...

Thorn shivered at the thought of the beatings she had until she ran away. Suddenly, the blue bruise on her hand felt fresh. Shrugging the thoughts away, she saw that there were two men a little far away, on a 400 metre track. Nice time for men to have a jog, she thought as she took slow steps towards them at first, but then quickening her pace. She was sweaty, thirsty and tired, and she needed to find the way back to dorms.

I. Hate. Getting. Lost. And first days in an academy.

She hadn't even approached to the boys properly when she said in a loud, sharp voice, "Excuse me." She stopped to catch her breath, then said even more sharply, "Can any one of you two help me with directions? I think I have lost my way." Then, muttered, "This is an unusually big academy."
