Crystal Briar Jackson
19 | 25[sup]th[/sup] March | Female | Human | 12[sup]th[/sup] Grade
Nicknames: Cryst, Crust, Cry and Sparkler.
Appearance
Crystal is the kind of girl which you can call the ‘Girl Next Door’. She is skinny, pretty, caring, sweet, and gives loads of good girl vibes. She always smell of honey and almond creams, with a sweet vanilla perfume touch.
You’ll usually see her around in loose and comfortable knee-length dresses, revising for a test or reading a lovely novel.
Crystal has soft brown eyes, which are always twinkling, surrounded by dark black, long lashes. Unlike most of girls in her grade, her olive skin has no tan, and she likes to keep her short and wavy night black hair loose.
Her face is what you’d call petite, and she looks entirely cute with those peach pink, plump full lips. She is short, and slim.
And she almost never wear any makeup, because she thinks ‘there’s no point of fake beauty’ in human life. If she’s beautiful, she accepts it. If she’s ugly, she accepts that, too. All she does is be herself.
Personality
Crystal is one of those people who are actually unique and different, but just doesn’t like to step out of the norm line because of fearing attention. Crystal doesn’t like being in center of attention, and large amount of crowds make her feel uncomfortable.
She’s not like one of those girls who do cheerleading, wear tight, pink clothes and squeal. Nah, she’d rather stay indoors quietly, enjoying a cup of hot coffee with a novel or a friend for company. She likes peaceful surroundings, with birds chirping for background music, and the heartwarming sound of water splashing lightly, like fountains or waterfalls or light rain.
Though don’t think she’s 24/7 shy and quiet and nerdy. When she feels like it, she goes out and talk to alien people (no pun intended) and mingle around with unfamiliars. However, she tries her best not to go in depth with people so they will come around to search her and find about her little ‘secret’ [scroll down to ‘weakness’ part].
Powers
Crystal have one and only power, which she sometimes want to get rid of. She is capable to ‘remember’ future like people remember past. She knows how she will feel in specific circumstance in future, what’s she’ll wear, the taste of food she’ll eat. Though the future will be faded if it’s long to come, like people’s memories are faded if they’re trying to remember something long gone, like the moment of being born.
However, she does not remember everything - that would have made her life dull. She knows a bit only. 'Only a little bit part of memory is upside down', as she like to put it.
She doesn't remember a future event unless she focus on it, and the focus makes the future come to her. Though, as told before, she does not remember everything. Some parts of future comes to her, some does not. Usually, future does not come before her if the event that has to happen is going to surprise her. So don't hesitate to throw a surprise birthday party for her.
Last thing I'd like to note down is, most people's faces are commonly blurry in her visions, but the voice and actions always tell her who the person is in her vision.
Weaknesses
Crystal has a big weakness, one she intends to keep hidden. Every 04:32 AM, she forgets everything except two: her name, and her notepad. She knows she’s Crystal Briar Jackson, and she has a notepad she needs to look in to remember where she is and what’s going on. Every night before sleeping, Crystal jots down whatever important happened that day, and go to sleep. So when she wakes up next day, she holds in her panic and read through all the notes of last week, and then she finally calms down.
Magical Possessions
Crystal has one magical property she’s grateful for. It’s Noter, her notepad. It looks like any other small notepad, with a beautiful galaxy-inspired cover and a pen holder with it. In Noter, you can write forever and ever, but the pages in it will never finish. A never-ending notepad. But that’s not just it’s power. Invented by and given to her by Hugo Nicholas Jackson, Crystal’s father, this little book has the ability to return to Crystal’s pocket in sixteen seconds if it gets lost, or if someone steals it. Her father had given it to her so she can remember stuff, and try to live a normal life, as normal as it could be in Manta Carlos Island.
Background
Crystal’s past is just like any other Islander’s, if you exclude what happened to her when she was six. Crystal was born in Manta Carlos Island, to a sorcerer mother (her name was Briar) and an inventor father (that’s Hugo). Crystal used to have a one year elder brother, Jesse, but he had died of a mysterious explosion when Crystal was just two.
Crystal grew up in her family’s manor, which was small if compared to the other manors and mansions in the district they lived in. She grew up normally, free from any curse and born without any powers.
Once, when she was six, she was in her mother’s potion dungeon with her mother, Briar. Her mother was trying to create a potion that was never made, inspired by Hugo with his way with things.
The potion she was trying to make was Fearless. Every day she would go down in her dungeon and create the potion bit by bit. Finally, it was ready. Her mother wanted to take the potion to her boss where she worked, and wanted to show him and her cliques and finally get popular for her talents and not for her money.
So at 04:32, Briar was down to pack up her potion, and Crystal had followed her. They were just packing up when Briar said there was a final ‘personal touch’ missing from her potion, and asked Crystal to hand her the black liquid from the shelf.
Crystal didn’t liked the color black, so she handed her the darkest shade of blue liquid. Briar never checked if it was right and spilled it in the cauldron, while Crystal ran up in childish fear of her mother scolding her when she finds out that Crystal handed her the wrong potion.
But there was no scoldings. There wasn’t even a mother left to scold.
Briar, being the closest to the potion cauldron, died a horrible, painful death. Crystal wasn’t good, either. As soon as her mother’s soul was snatched away, she had fainted. In her hallucination, Crystal had seen her mother being eaten by a giant, fire cobra while she screamed and wailed, and no matter how much Crystal tried, she couldn’t reach her mother and save her. That was the worst torture for Crystal.
After a long period of time, Crystal woke up. She was in an unfamiliar room, with everything unfamiliar. Even her reflection was unfamiliar. She had been struck by an unknown (for Crystal) curse.
It had been two weeks since she was unresponsively faint. Her mother had been buried, and the dungeon that had exploded was halfway through restruction. Her father had called a magick healer for Crystal, and the healer had said she was in temporary coma because of a reason he didn’t knew, but he did knew that she will wake up in several weeks.
Later, they got to know the reason of Crystal’s memory problem by an eccentric soul-seer, but all soul-seer said was that Crystal was struck by a bad, bad curse. They visited more soul-seers, but they all said the same thing and refused to tell more.
So Hugo created up Noter and gifted it to Crystal as her seventh birthday gift, so she could try to live a normal life – or as normal as it could be in Manta Carlos Island.
Later on, when Crystal had turned eight, Hugo and Crystal shifted in a smaller, two storey house in another district, a little near the forest that surrounded Starlight Academy, and so they left behind the painful memories of Briar’s and Jesse’s deaths.
Since then Crystal grew up normally, homeschooled by Ms. Honey, a nice and loving tutor. And now, when she turned seventeen, her father thought it would be a good idea to enroll her in Starlight Academy so she could be more social with people.
