the noise in the street will soon disappear

It didn't take much for Amphy to get him inside. At this rate, Amphy and Zen could literally drag him into a death trap as long as they asked nicely. He should probably work on saying 'no' better to them, come to think of it.

When they got inside, Ardos, in fact, did not try to make a break for it. He wanted to, but then he got distracted by the small snack section of the pharmacy. He grabbed a bag of skittles, m&m's and assorted candies. Some guy with a long face and a beak nose was staring at him from across the store. He glared at him once and he looked away, scared. Yeah, that was right. He better be scared. Ardos grabbed some more skittles.

He approached Amphy again — and, augh, he already had the medical supplies. Why. Still, he wasn't going to let him pay for that. He was already being a huge, awkward inconvenience. He pulled a crumpled, dirty hundred from his pocket and handed it to him. "Don't worry about paying for anything, all right?"

Amphy was pleased as punch to see Ardos standing behind him in line with an armful of candy. As the line moved and they were at the front, the faun set his small purchases on the table to be rung up. He reached into his pockets for his wallet, only to see Ardos pay the man with what looked like an 100 dollar bill. Where did Ardos get a full hundred? He felt bad for having it be spent on him and not himself.

"I... okay." Collecting his purchases, he lead Ardos to the park. At this time of night the overhead lights were on, but the paths were vacant and devoid of life other than the homeless or drunk. He sat Ardos down, and then sat next to him before opening his bag, making sure they were sitting close to the functioning lamps.

"Let me see..." he said, looking at his face before deciding to properly tend to his stab wound first.

He cleaned the wound with the rubbing alcohol first before starting to properly and tightly wrap it in bandages.

Ardos was obedient getting in and out the pharmacy, and he was easier to lead to the park, but the rubbing alcohol stung. He'd rather suffer through multiple stabbings again than this. He kept trying to move away, but eventually, the dead was done and it was cleaned up better than his other wounds.

He reached out to touch the securely wrapped bandages. It still stung, but he wasn't bleeding anymore.

"Thank you, Amphy." Ardos smiled at him for a brief moment before turning his attention to the other people still at the park. He couldn't look at him for what he was about to say next. "...I'm sorry. I never wanted you to see me like this. I break heads for a living but... it's not like I'm proud of it, you know?"

"Thank you, Amphy."

The faun wasn't used to being thanked for his mending. Animals weren't often the type to saying 'thank you' after being fixed up. No, usually they would just run awau into the forest without a care in the world. Surprise colored his features. "Oh, uh... no need to thank me."

He played with the curl of hair from under his hat. Stupid Ardos and his stupid nice face.

Speaking of his face...

Amphios reached into the bag again and took out the ice pack.

"...I'm sorry. I never wanted you to see me like this. I break heads for a living but... it's not like I'm proud of it, you know?"

"Yeah, I understand," he said, rubbing the cold block between his hands. It felt nice in the late summer heat. He understood Ardos' emotions and really wished he could help. "You definitely don't seem to me like the type who fights people because you enjoy it."

A pause.

"Maybe you should consider getting work where you don't have to break heads?"

That was really cute. Ardos smiled again. He wasn't the biggest smiler out there, but there was just something about Amphios that... made him smile.

He sighed. "I already tried. I submitted a few resumes to some places but it's all rejections. I'm not really smart, I don't have a lot of skills, and it's kind of hard to convince someone you'd make a reliable guard when your background's shady and you have scars on your face, you know?"

The ones that weren't familiar with drow took one good look at him and told him a bunch of harsh things. They weren't looking for rebels and criminals, they said. He looked like he was rough around the edges and that's not what they're looking for, they said. The ones that were familiar wanted nothing to do with him.

This was stressing him out.

Ardos didn't really feel like smoking right now, so he pulled out a bag of skittles and opened it up, popping a bunch in his mouth. He offered the bag to Amphy. "The Fox isn't too bad, to be honest. I think you might like what they're doing there. E-er, I'm not saying that you'd like naked people dancing on poles... but the special effects, that's what they're called I think, are pretty neat. The whole place is imbued with magic. Some dancers pass by a light and suddenly their appearance or skin changes."

He ate a few more skittles, nodding. "There was this one night, they were doing this, uh, magician themed thing yeah? This guy saws a naked lady in half and she starts dancing with her body cut in half. Her torso was on a table and the legs were climbing a pole. I saw that and I thought, huh, that looks like the sort of thing Amphios is into. I was too shy to ask her if she'd want to do that for a Vine."

Amphy nibbled his bottom lip as he listened to Ardos talk about his difficulties getting more legitimate work. While the drow talked, the faun touched his arm and started tending the scratches there. They weren't bleeding too badly, not as bad as the knife wound anyways, but the scratches had still broken skin, and he didn't want to take any chances,

His hands dabbled the rubbing alcohol into his scratches, carefully running his hands up and down his arms to make sure that there wasn't any damage done.

Really, he was amazed by how rough Ardos's skin was. While the palms and pads of Amphy's hands weren't silky smooth, they weren't as rough as the other man's...

Quickly, Amphy snapped out of it and started to wrap up the scratches, tight enough that the bandages were firmly in place but loose enough that blood flow wasn't restricted by his wrappings. He quickly checked back into the conversation.

Special effects? He wanted to see that!

"You'd have to show me some time! I'd be interested to meet the guy behind that...."

He tied off the bandage.

"Maybe you could try something like... construction work."
