Jett couldn't remember the last time he'd been genuinely afraid of the future, or of hurting someone. He was no, sitting on the beach as the full moon hung high in the sky, lighting the glossy surface of the water. He held a bottle of expensive wine by the throat; its butt dug into the sand at his side.

Jett had told Jeong to meet him here after he got off work, having left the office later than Jeong. All day he had been trying to find a way to tell Jeong what he wanted to say. They'd been married less than a fucking year. Jett hated this, so why was he doing it?

Because he changed. He never wanted friends. He never wanted someone to love. Jett didn't want perspective on the shitty life he'd made for himself, lighting his life ablaze and dancing as it all came crumbling down. But now he couldn't do that.

The last thing Jett wanted Jeong to think was that he was quitting. The truth couldn't be farther from that.

Jeong was surprised. It seemed that recently, many things had changed for his husband. His attitude and even his activities had become strange. He didn't seem like the same Jett that he had met, or fallen in love with. That was okay, right? People changed and he hoped that in Jett's eyes, so had he. The tiger boy met him, being able to recognize his body from anywhere. He poked his head before plopping down beside him. There was a bright grin on his face. "Hey honey. It's a beauty day isn't it?" He took a second to look at the view before kissing his cheek. "Why'd you wanna meet here?" Jeong was open for a hug if Jett wanted to give one.

From the moment Jett longed for power. From the moment he plunged the knife into his kin's skin, his destiny was written in the stars. Death. Destruction. Emptiness. He'd wanted to find a way to avoid all of it, but immortality alone would do nothing for him. At this point, he was just about ready to accept his fate.

It really shouldn't have, but the idea tore him up inside. Jett wasn't afraid of death, not even a slow painful one, but he was afraid of this conversation. He was afraid of Jeje's tears. He grinned confidently when Jeong plopped down beside him and reached out to run his knuckles gently along Jeong's jawline.

"You caught me," he laughed without any real mirth. "This wasn't just a romantic little getaway." Now his tone went serious, eyes deep and dark, shadowed by some painful memory.

"We need to talk. About.... well, fuck. Everything. I guess. Jeong, I don't think I'm going to last much longer, and I don't have anywhere left to run."

He stayed by his side, as always. The tiger took a second to adjust how he was sitting before giving his full attention to his husband. He wasn't sure how to react to his words. "...You may have to elaborate on that, baby." A simple 'I have to go' could mean anything in his eyes. "Are you talking about... About your past? What you are?" It seemed like the right answer, considering the uncertainty he was showing.
