"What is i-?"
Brynjar wasn't able to finish his sentence before Noel came around the chair, and reached up, in close proximity to Brynjar. Noel's scent was strong this close, the scent of warmth and December. Strange combination, but still they were both so very much like Noel. Brynjar had a feeling he would never tire of this scent.

Brynjar was slightly dazed and almost missed Noel explaining his hat and tie were off. Even that took a moment to register, and by then Noel had already fixed his hat Brynjar didn't know what to do with his arms, and by the time he realized he should fix his tie Noel was already doing that as well. Noel's closeness and his scent made Brynjar's face flushed under his mask, and he tried not to stare at Noel. Too much. The man he seemed to hold affection towards was right in front of him, naturally Brynjar couldn't help but steal some gazes.

Brynjar was midst one of those gazes when Noel asked about his preferred knot, and Brynjar blinked once before answering.
"That is...um, whichever you wish. I'll be happy with you..r decision."
Brynjar mentally scolded himself for that strange pause, his mind was affected by this event and atmosphere. He hoped Noel would just take it as his usual stuttering.

Noel gazed up at Brynjar and smiled warmly and with pleasure. He very much enjoyed the younger man's company and he was definitely attracted to this gentle bear of a man. It was an odd feeling in a way, Noel hadn't felt like this in years, even decades. There was just something about Brynjar that made him want and need to be with him or near him as much as possible. Noel knew that Brynjar was not really comfortable with the whole idea, or so he sensed, and generally tried not to overwhelm him too much.

"A full Windsor," Noel said with a wide grin as he laid and lightly smoothed the tie ends flat against Brynjar's hard chest, "It's the best knot for something as formal as you are wearing at the moment," Noel said as he took the opportunity to openly eye Brynjar over, enjoying his body and how it seemed to mold into the clothes perfectly.

"This red is beautiful by the way," Noel complimented Brynjar, "And the cane and top hat were a nice touch" he said as he worked tying the knot.

"Okay, done..." he said with a grin, "Shall we have a seat? Maybe try some of that delicious punch you managed to secure us?" Noel said as he pulled out a chair.

"Then...full Windsor it is. I trust your judgment...wholeheartedly."
Brynjar said and smiled slightly, he appreciated Noel doing his tie, not just because he could be close to the man like that, but because Brynjar was a bit clumsy with his hands and doing the tie by himself had been a challenge. So while Noel took care of it Brynjar folded his arms behind his back and stood staight and tried not to move. When Noel occasionally touched his hands to Brynjar's chest each time his heart skipped a bit. Brynjar certainly hoped Noel couldn't feel or hear it.

When Noel complimented Brynjar's choice of colour, and the hat, he nodded slightly, a warm feeling in his chest. It felt like Brynjar was completely at Noel's mercy, just one praise could lift his spirits to this extent. He wondered what Noel's rejection could do to him...
"It's...my favourite shade. Unfortunately...the hat was suggested to me by a salesperson, I cannot take credit for it."

Brynjar was almost disappointed when Noel finished with his tie, but sat down along with him. But he could still sit next to Noel, and Brynjar was just as happy with that. He pushed one of the punch glasses towards Noel, with a small smile on his face.
"I'm sure...this punch is delicious, or at least I hope so, after...going through a wall of people to get it."
Brynjar said, trying to joke, and took hold of his own punch glass. He lifted his glass a bit in a toast, and took a small sip. It wasn't bad, it could very well be called delicious.
"This ball is...full of life. It's good to see people enjoy it."

Noel enjoyed doing things for Brynjar, even if they were small things like doing up his tie for him, helping settle into the island, or opening doors. He knew it was silly, that Brynjar would probably laugh if he knew, but Noel liked making others happy, especially people he cared for, and the beautiful god-like warrior of man before him was no exception.

"The punch is quite delicious," Noel said after taking a small sip of the fruity beverage, "Thank you," he said, flashing Brynjar a happy grin. "And yes, everyone does seem lively, happy... It looks like the ball is going to be a success this year," he remarked thoughtfully as he watched people dancing together on the dancefloor.

"Are you a dancer, Brynjar?" Noel asked with keen interest, wondering if he liked or could dance.

Even though Noel was just thanking Brynjar for getting punch the smile the other man gave him was enough to convince Brynjar to do it again a thousand times. He blushed ever so slightly and shook his head a bit, sipping his drink.
"You're welcome. I just...fetched some punch, it was no hard task."

Brynjar nodded to Noel's statement and joined him in observing the dancers. Silence with Noel was comfortable, and Brynjar enjoyed just appreciating his presence and closeness. He couldn't ask for more, especially since Noel was sitting right by him, within reach.
Brynjar was starting to picture taking Noel's hand just when he asked, whether Brynjar was a dancer or not. Brynjar blinked once, and concentrated on the moment.
"Um, I know how to dance, yes. But I cannot say about the quality of my dancing, it has been many years since I last danced. I may have forgotten some steps."
Brynjar saw a chance, and he swallowed a bit. His anxiousness from earlier returned, as he turned to face Noel a bit. Brynjar was very thankful his face was covered by a mask.
"Would you, um...help me remember? How to dance."

It took a moment for Noel to register what Brynjar was asking him. Looking at Brynjar, Noel did a double take and then grinned. He was surprised by the question, but pleasantly so. He hadn't thought Brynjar would be comfortable dancing with another man in public, but he had just shown Noel that he wasn't as uncomfortable with the idea as he had assumed.

"Of course, I'd be delighted to help you remember your dance steps," Noel said as he put down his punch on the table and got to his feet, waiting for Brynjar to do the same. Then he made a polite gesture that Brynar should go ahead first as they made their way to the semi-crowded dance floor.

Once there, standing comfortably in front of Brynjar, Noel smiled, "Would you like to lead or shall I?" he asked, comfortable with either position.

Brynjar was feeling unsure about this, about dancing with Noel in a public place. But the mask on his face helped, Brynjar noticed it was easier to dismiss the uncertainty to a degree where he could be more honest. And Brynjar sincerely wanted to dance with Noel. There were people of the same sex dancing together, Brynjar had made a note of that, and it also helped him gather enough courage to ask.

Brynjar got to his feet, perhaps a bit stiffly, and pushed his chair back under the table. He wanted to keep his hands busy, and try not to think about how they'd be in close contact with Noel soon.
It was strange. Brynjar had fought in countless wars and battled against hundred men and yet that walk to the dance floor with Noel felt terrifying. Brynjar couldn't feel his hands and legs as the two stood facing each other, and Noel's words echoed and sounded muffled like they were said through water. But Brynjar heard him, and heard himself answer.

"I, um, have ever only lead. I would...appreciate if you could let me take that position."
Brynjar swallowed a bit, his nervousness was at its peak. He didn't want to insult Noel in any way.

"But of course, I don't mind letting you lead," Noel said as he quite comfortably walked forward towards him and placed one hand on Brynjar's shoulder, and with the other hand, Noel took Brynjar's hand in his own, interlacing his fingers with the younger man's as he kept his warm gaze peeled on Brynjar's.

"I am glad you wanted to dance," Noel told him, "I love ballroom dancing, the slow waltz especially. It can be such a romantic dance, no?" he asked him with a small, yet warm, smile.

Hiatus
It startled Brynjar, when Noel stepped closer to him and set his hand on his shoulder. When the other man touched Brynjar he could feel warmth rush back into his limbs, and his hearing sharpened again and Brynjar couldn't see anything bug Noel. And when Noel took his hand, intertwining their fingers, Brynjar could've sworn his heart stopped for a moment. That and how close Noel seemed to be made Brynjar slightly lightheaded. He swallowed and slowly brought his hand to Noel's waist. Every spot where Brynjar was in contact with him felt hot.
"I-I appreciate it...this, letting me lead."
Brynjar said, he was surprised his voice still worked and sounded relatively normal.

That smile and Noel's words made Brynjar's heart skip a beat, and he noticed the song that was playing was waltz. That was one of the few dances that Brynjar knew, and he looked down at Noel.
"It...it suits you. This ball room, and dancing, and your attire. They all suit you...very well."
Brynjar felt the urge to swipe his hand through his hair, but that wasn't possible with Noel's hand in his and a hat on his head. And there was no way Brynjar would let go of Noel's hand.
"Then, um, shall we...shall we dance? Waltz."
Brynjar's ears must've been red, as he glanced down at their feet and carefully tried taking the first step, leading Noel. He tried keeping a small distance between him and Noel, attempting to be considerate.

" I just love all this pomp and glamour. It's right late 1800s," Noel stated with a happy grin when Brynjar said it suited him, adding. "It was a great era, probably one of my favourites party and gala-wise." Noel told Brynar as he let him lead him out into the dance floor, not caring if he was a little rusty at first. Noel was just happy that they could have a dance together.

"Just so you know, I really appreciate that you wanted to dance with me this evening," Noel told him warmly, noting the slight flush of his features. He knew that it probably hadn't been the easiest of decisions for Brynjar to have made. "I was going to suggest dancing later on, after a drink or two, but you beat me to it," he told Brynjar, smiling now as he deliberately moved his hand a bit further down his shoulder, to lightly place it on his biceps.
