For a very brief moment, Noel had a panicky feeling that something was wrong. Especially when he saw Brynjar go silent, frown and then look down, he thought that maybe, somehow he had misread all the signs, and that he, Brynjar, had just been referring to friendship or something akin to it only. Dismayed at this, that he might have gotten it wrong, Noel was going to tell him it was okay, and not to worry that he understood - which he did - and wish Brynjar well.
But before he could say anything of the sort, Noel heard Brynjar's deep but soft voice, nervously tell him that he loved him... Stunned by this revelation, Noel didn´t know what to say at first. He knew he certainly cared for Brynjar deeply, and would easily do anything to see him happy and hear him laugh that deep, rich and very rare laugh. Studying him quietly and thoughtfully for a moment, Noel smiled finally and took Brynjar's hand, squeezed it and then brought it to his heart.
"Good, cause I believe I feel the same way," he said softly, "and it would be a shame if you didn't let this silly old god into your life, cause I make killer gingerbread at Christmas and definitely need somebody to help me eat them," he said trying to lighten the mood, since in his mind love should be a happy occasion and one that was somber and full of uncertainty.
