Private Finished The Most Dangerous. . .

Aren was a little shocked by the sudden outburst. His face showed no real signs of fear, perhaps more frustration. He clenched his fists tightly and spoke in a calm tone. “They do not kidnap normal humans. The only people they have ever kidnapped are people who have been confirmed to have supernatural abilites. I was only assigned to testing personnel because I was deemed safe and unkillable by subjects. All other testing personnel are prisoners on death row that have willingly joined. They were going to die, it was their choice to have it actually mean something.”

Aren didn’t try to comment on Rory’s comeback on the kidnapping issue of the organization. Mostly it was because he didn’t actually have something to respond to that. “Originally I was just to be analyzed and then have memories replaced with false ones, until they learned of my more odd abilities. Before you say anything I had no family and was very young at the time. If they didn’t take me in I likely would have died.....not that it would mean much but it’s still something. I was only given minor test on harmless subjects or subjects incapable of affecting me due to my mental shielding originally. Once I learned of my immortality after being a causality during a containment breach I volunteered for dangerous testing.”

Aren nodded his head softly. “Yea it does....but after it happens again and again and again....you kinda get used to the pain. It doesn’t really hurt nearly as much anymore. Death never really scared me as a kid, even before I learned of my immortality. It’s just something that I really need to worry about you know?”

Aren laughed a little as well when Rory laughed. “Even with my immortality I try my best to not do those kinds of things. I’m still not sure the full limits of it so I face unknown things like they can kill be permanently.” Aren sighed softly and stretched. “No no. It’s fine. Many people would have likely reacted the way you did. It’s understandable to get upset at this.”

Aren laughed a little more at that. It was nice to laugh now and then. When she brought up that it was handled Aren was quiet for a second. “The organizatiok has more than one compound. The only two I knew of were Theta and Upsilon. Upsilon was the facility I was in and Theta tried but failed to contain some kind of Eldritch entity. Needless to say both are gone. But now that the island knows of the organization’s existence they will likely be hunting for the rest of the facilities.” Aren trailed off, not knowing if he should be pleased or sad at that.
