“Welcome to the Greatest Show on Earth!”
The Midnight Circus is in town!
The Ringmaster, a certain Monsieur Antoine Francois, settled his caravan of wonders at an abandoned and unwanted lot at the heart of the City’s Underground. The circus didn’t need advertising. It was spread through word of mouth alone.
Because The Midnight Circus isn’t just any sort of circus.
There are rumors that it’s powered by magic.
Starting midnight every weekend and closing at sunrise, the Midnight Circus only opens its gates to the those that could be described possessing a sense of wonder. Children and childlike adults – people that want to be dazzled and entertained, people that do their best despite the cruel tides of the world – would be able to spot the circus’ lights and music a mile away. The more jaded and cynical adults, the ones that would be so quick to dismiss the circus as childish, would meet nothing but a wooden fence and a keep out sign. There are several wards put up to prevent people from breaking in, but in the off-chance that they do, they would find nothing but a locked wooden caravan.
The interior of the Circus seems to break the laws of space. One would think a 10x10 meter lot would be too small for a circus, but inside is a pocket dimension that’s big enough to house several tents, mazes, booths and rides. The theme and decorations vary depending on the Ringmaster’s mood, but rest assured that there’s always something to see.
Booths
There are many booths in the Midnight Circus that could satisfy any customer’s food, gaming and souvenir needs.
Food. The traditional circus food: Sweets and deep fried food. There are corn dogs, hotdogs, funnel cake, burgers, popcorn, cotton candy, pretzels, peanuts, candy apples, chicken fingers, salads, chocolate chip cookies, French fries, pigs in a blanket, snow cones, cupcakes, lemonade, pizza rolls, and cola or beer floats. There are booths for candy and pastries. You can eat your weight in circus food.
Games. There are many carnival games to spend your time on, if you’re not feeling the Midnight Show. Pay a quarter to play the Dime Pitch Game, Pingpong Ball and Fish Bowl, Cross Bow Shoot, Milk Bottle Game, the Balloon and Dart Game, Rope Ladder Climb and Ring the Bell. Many of these games award the winners with stuffed animals, but they can exchange their winnings for tickets and redeem grand magical items from the ticket booth.
Souvenirs. Yes, indeed, you can purchase souvenirs to remember your visit to the circus! There are bobbleheads of the main attractions, t-shirts that advertise the circus' name, decorational flags, Midnight-themed stuffed animals, snowglobes, greeting cards and toys aplenty. Perhaps the most prestigious souvenir of them all is the Ringmaster’s own white rose. Many people talk in secret about its hidden magical properties.
Attractions
The main reason people go to the circus is The Midnight Show!
The show starts at 1AM and finishes at 4AM. Each act usually lasts about 40 minutes with musical intermissions or comedy skits in between. The Midnight Circus put performers on rotation and come up with different acts every performance so no two acts are ever the same. The Ringmaster loves to claim that every show is Their Best Show Ever!
