Ever since she'd discovered her new form, Anna had been hard at work learning her flight techniques. Sure, they offered classes for it, but those didn't start for another week, and Anna wanted to learn some more on her own - she learned better that way sometimes, by doing it herself. Perhaps that was just the independent young woman in her. She recalled that her mother was the same way, never wanting to rely on anyone else. A kind woman. Anna missed her every day.

On this day, Anna found herself browsing the library's small section on aviation. She wasn't exactly a plane, but perhaps she could learn a little bit from these books on flight maneuvers. She scanned the shelf until her eyes found what she was looking for: Dogfighting Techniques. Pulling the book from the shelf, she found a comfortable armchair near a window and settled into it, opening the book. The spine creaked. It was obviously a piece of literature that wasn't viewed much. She hoped it would teach her something. Anna hummed quietly as she flipped through the pages, looking at the flight patterns that were illustrated and described in detail in the book.

June had only come over to the library to return the few books he'd borrowed, finally finishing reading up on some books for school for his final year and just a few to ease his mind off all the medical terms he'd been reading. After he'd turned over the books to the front desk, he decided it wouldn't hurt to look around the library if there were any that could catch his attention. He only seemed to be browsing idly, looking for nothing in particular; sometimes his eyes would fall into the spine of a book, catch the title and move on to the next. This went on for a few minutes, shelf to shelf until he caught a view of the lounge area meant for the library goes. There wasn't quite a lot of people -- it was in the middle of summer and there weren't many students who liked studying on such an occasion.

Except perhaps a few who were there now, including a new face June didn't seem familiar with. He took a moment to observe behind a shelf, looking as natural as a person looking through the titles intently before he went in, completely casual as he made his way to the girl.

"You've got a really serious face there; you might scare off the book with that," he spoke in jest, interrupting the girl's reading with a paper flower into her line of sight. He found scraps off paper in between a few books he flipped over and while he wandered off, he found himself folding it into one.

"You wouldn't happen to be a new face here? I think I would remember a face like yours if I ran into you anywhere."

Anna stared intently at the book's description for barrel rolls. A voice drew her eyes from the page and she lowered the book into her lap, glancing up. Her dark, doe-eyed gaze fell upon the delicate paper flower before sliding up to regard the person it was attached to. She felt her heart skip a beat as she met his golden eyes.

Anna wasn't normally a romantic person. Most of the time, any attempts at flirting with her just went right over her head, or she thought it was a joke or something. She'd never dated anyone, she'd never even had her first kiss yet. Her life had been so focused on her remaining family and, now, her studies, that she hadn't even thought of having a romantic life. Therefore, her own reaction took her by surprise as her stomach flipped and a deep blush spread across her cheeks.

"I...uhh..." she mentally scrambled, trying to collect herself. She swallowed and raised a hand to tuck her raven locks behind her ear, glancing down at her book. Her eyes didn't even register the words on the page anymore. "I guess so? It's been a few weeks," she finally managed, glancing back up at him in an attempt to not be rude by avoiding eye contact.

June couldn't help but laugh, seeing the girl look so flustered. It wasn't a new reaction for June, but it was different for every person; this one certainly look like the sweet type, possibly a little timid and maybe a little bit child-like. Those were always the cute ones that June like teasing. They were almost always the lively ones that had the right blend of energy that was the most satisfying to feed on. The psionic had to keep himself from visibly making that clear; instead, he only smiled.

"Few weeks in yet you're already pouring yourself into studying?" The red-head tutted as he took the empty seat next to her, making sure he wasn't sitting too close or too far. He couldn't, of course, appear too chummy yet. "Though it makes me curious what could have possibly caught your attention." June tilted his head slightly, enough to catch the book's pages at the corner of his eye.

As if a realization struck him, he straightened up and extended his hand towards her, "Oh, right! Where are my manners? June Orwell, and who might this charming lady be?"

Anna searched for words as she watched him sit beside her. "It's, uh...personal research," she explained. She wasn't that eager to get into her studies...not to say she wasn't excited about learning more about her chosen career path. Becoming a nurse was important to her. She could help other people, heal them...maybe not with magical powers like that one doctor who'd fixed her leg had, but still, her own powers of emotional manipulation were bound to be worth something.

The girl straightened a little as well and reached out to take June's hand as he introduced himself. "Anna Perez," she replied. "It's nice to meet you." His charm wasn't lost on her; she couldn't get the blush on her cheeks to fade. She couldn't help but feel strangely attracted to him.

"Lovely to meet you," June replied, accentuating the word before placing quick peck to the back of her hand and then letting go. The psionic gave her a small close-lipped smile, keeping his fangs away from view for the moment, though the way his eyes also crinkled made it appeear wider than it did. He wasn't really ever shy with his fangs, but he didn't show it off to a few people.

"So.. Personal research?" he echoed thoughtfully, subtly leaning over to her. Well, that certainly explained things for him; though he wasn't sure how personal was planes doing barrel rolls for her as was learning about psionics was for him. Or perhaps he was just jumping the gun here and maybe it was personal on a different level as his aspirations were to him. It could have been one or the other and he wouldn't really know until he asked.

June carefully reached for a page and playfully turned it over and back in curiosity. "Might it be too much to know why you're browsing this book for "personal research"? Doesn't quite sound like a typical choice."

Anna bit her lip a little as he kissed the back of her hand. Who the heck was this guy, Prince Charming? He certainly was charming, though maybe not a prince...but then again, one could never be too sure of anything today. Maybe he was a prince. Anna felt herself falling fast and hard for this red-headed man...her stomach doing flip-flops and her heart skipping in her chest, warm tingles shooting up and down her spine. She'd never had a crush on someone before. It was awfully exciting and new.

She tilted her head at him, "I'm a siren, and I just found out that I can grow these...huge wings. One of my friends suggested that I learn how to do some cool stuff in the air, so..." she trailed off and gestured to the book. She hoped he didn't think she was too nerdy or anything by reading about airplane maneuvers. At the very least, she thought it was kind of interesting.

"A siren, hm?" June echoed, curiosity evident in his tone. A curious case; as a well-read person, an avian siren wasn't an odd concept to him, but it was certainly a rarity to see on the island. Most sirens he had met this whole time have been the aquatic variant. Apparently today was the day he finally met their air counterpart.

June hummed thoughtfully. "I've never though I'd live to meet a siren just like you." For a moment, he turned his attention to the book Anna was holding. He wouldn't say it was the perfect option, but there isn't really a lot of books that talked about flight manuevers for wings with feathers. Although he isn't actually sure about this library though -- many students know Starlight has more books for wider, more diverse audiences.

"Well, I won't fault your friend, I'd definitely love to see someone like you take the skies. I'm sure you'll be a graceful flier." The psionic sounded genuinely impressed, although behind the lightheartedness seemed a little wary. He'd known sirens to be his match, especially those who have control over their voices. It was best to watch his back, but until then...

"You wouldn't mind me watching you do some aerial tricks, would you?"

A siren...just like her? Anna wasn't sure what he meant by that, but she took it as flattery, anyways. Handsome, kind...maybe a little flirty...Anna was easily becoming rather smitten with this one. She tilted her head at him as he asked to watch her fly. She felt a nervous energy building up inside of her. Now she would have to impress him. "Like...right now?" She glanced out the nearby window, looking at the way the sun streamed onto the grass.

"I guess I could show you...if you'd like," she told him sheepishly, closing her book. She wasn't used to showing off in front of people, much less actually trying to impress someone. She wanted him to like her...visions flashed through her head of them walking and holding hands, and she blushed a little, trying to shake the thought away. Anna's romantic ideas were rather vanilla; she'd never had a real relationship before, she'd only fantasized about them, and not very often, either.

Anna returned her book to where she'd found it and led June from the library and out into the summer air. She felt a tingling in her back and a faint sickness in her stomach - the latter part was getting better as time went on - as she caused her giant black wings to sprout from between her shoulder blades. She stretched them out and gave a few test flaps before shooting off into the air, picking up height and speed as she did so. Flying always took her breath away. She smiled up at the blue sky and white clouds before turning and barreling through the sky, tucking in her wings and rolling before straightening out. Well. That wasn't so hard.

June chuckled, "Well, if you'd like it, then why not?" He didn't need to ask again though as the girl closed her book, June caught her intentions already. Reading minds weren't his sort of thing, and he was already doubting he'd get there, but he was a master at reading tiny movements from people he was focusing on. It wasn't too difficult to pick out their emotions from the sort of energy they carried. The psionic had to resist licking at his lips.

He'd follow her outside, gauging her mood that went ups and downs. She was nervous -- very cute, if he had any say to it. Nervous energy wouldn't quite do, though. "Don't worry about me too much, I'm sure you'll do great," he said to her as they made their way out of the library, almost like he was whispering to her.

There wasn't any denying that her wings were impressive; large black wings with its gorgeous feathers. Breathtaking, to see from up close, though he was sure it would be better in action. June watched her take to the skies, following her movements as she cut through the air with a few tricks up her sleeve. Impressive, indeed, June would think, knowing well to appreciate the girl's skills.
