Aura whirled at the sound of the door opening and things coming in. The scent of blood scared her, making her back up and growl at the small things wheeling in tools and the scent of blood. And also at Hella, until she recognized her scent.

Behind the scrubs it was Hella. She might not have been able to compose her words well but relying on instinct had helped give Aura a foothold in her own being. And her instinct drove her forward to try to tackle Hella, just like she had at the islets. And in the same manner she didn't intentionally try to hurt her, even if she felt the urge to bite. Instead she shoved her face recklessly against the scrubs. Trying to get close to the familiar and comforting scent.

"...Hella," she whined

Hella allowed herself to be tackled to the floor, throwing her arms around Aura and holding her head close to her chest. Just laying there for a moment and letting herself be in this moment. "Aura... I love you and I've missed you so much. You can't imagine how I've been worried. Just like I can't imagine what you've been going through."

She caressed her girlfriend's hair, her stuffies standing off to the side like obedient little servants and looking away to give the couple a semblance of privacy.

"You know why I'm here, right?" Hella's voice quivered a bit, and she tightened her grip a bit on Aura trying to comfort her.

Aura happily rubbed her face against Hella, pressing her cheek against her chest and reveling in the moment. But Aura was still extremely restless and the longer she lay with her girlfriend the more intrusive thoughts and urges to bite and destroy seeped in. She growled, letting the vibration of it be felt through their contact.

"Hurt.. bite... no! Help... help. Fix... me"

Suddenly she whined again and started trying to wiggle free enough to get her face away from Hella. Opting to bite her own arm instead of Hella. She yelped in pain and looked back with anger in her eldritch eyes but a deep sense of panic in her other eye.

And that was all Hella needed. As she backed away and stood up, the blood in the bags seeped out and formed into ropes that began to snak around Aura's limbs. "I'm going to help you, Aura. I promise I am. But I'm going to need you to stay still and not hurt yourself. Okay? I-"

She smoothed her hair back, tying it into a knot to keep it out of her face rather than bother with a hair tie. And the discomfort gave her clarity, in a way. "I'm going to have to hurt you to help you. I... I'll understand if you hate me afterward..."

The blood kept flowing, pulling Aura to the floor even as she protested against the restraints. Hella had a strong suspicion that they wouldn't hold for long when the transformation started. And it hurt her immensely to have to bind her like that in the first place.

As she moved closer, Hella brought the key out of her pocket, her eyes falling on the power bracelet. "Aura, I'm going to take the bracelet off alright? And then... we're going to fix you."

Relying primarily on her instincts was a double edged sword. It allowed her to recognize Hella. Her love. Her mate. One of an extremely small number of people who she really could prevent herself from trying to attack outright at that point.

And it also made her panic like a trapped wild animal when the restraints took hold. She snarled and lashed about as much as she could. But she was so weak like that, and the restrains held for the moment. She snarled and whimpered and let out an unholy amount of garbled noises that sounded like they could have been words- if said words had been run through a blender a couple times.

Hella's words were lost on the beast. Aura couldn't comprehend anything with both her instincts and the insidious eldritch nature urging, no- demanding she break free and tear apart everything around her.

Despite Aura's struggling, Hella unlocked the bracelet and stood back almost immediately. she couldn't be sure that the transformation wouldn't begin the second it was off, but she could guess.

Behind her, her stuffies began setting up the things that they would need. Drawing an Elder sign on the walls, door, and a spot on the floor that could be used as a respite if things got bad. Hella pulled a bit of the blood to herself, pulling anything that might be an impurity out and turning it into a dark red scalpel, etched with the same symbol that her stuffies were painting on the walls.

She could do this. She had done far, far worse things for less altruistic reasons. This shouldn't be anything, right?

The effect wasn't exactly immediate, but that was kind of splitting hairs all things considered. As soon as Aura was able to she immediately began the horrific body-breaking process of shifting into her 'wolf' form. Although it was getting less and less recognizable as wolf-like aside from the pile of body parts being generally werewolf-like in original nature.

She screamed and howled and growled as the fairly extensive and painful process continued. New, broken and horrid limbs stretching out away from those that were restrained by the blood. As the blood moved to take hold of the additional limbs, some began to tear at others in hopes of severing them to allow space for still more to form and hot air billowed from her partially formed mouths. Tendrils lashed out towards Hella and glowed with the heat of the magma inside them.

Hella steeled herself and realized that she would need more than a scalpel for this. More blood rushed into her hand, forming a large, almost cruel-looking cleaver in her grip. It still bore the offending Elder Sign as she lashed out at one of the tendrils, slicing into it with surprising accuracy given the savagery of her swing.

She needed to know if this would work.

Whether the sun was down or not made no difference anymore. Aura was decidedly stuck in this form now for the foreseeable future. It was horrific and imposing but, it gave Hella more access and it probably would help protect whatever was salvageable survive after the procedure. Hopefully.

One large yellow eye glared at Hella as the cleaver slid right through the tendril with ease and the monster shrieked in pain and fear at the sign. Aura might not have had a particular aversion to it but the thing intertwined with her certainly did.

The other tendrils that had been headed Hella's way diverted around her to avoid the blade. Aura roared and bucked against the restraints with far more strength than before. Clawing at the floor and lashing other molten magma-filled tendrils at the restraints.

It would work. She could do this. Hella tightened her grip on the cleaver and moved in closer. She just reminded herself constantly, with each cut, that nothing she was removing was her girlfriend. She tuned out the screeches and howls, letting her mind think about the ceaseless pattering of rain instead. Rain through tree branches, the distant rolling of thunder, the twittering of birds in their nests.

If she could just sever enough of the tendrils. Get to the core, where she could be more precise. More careful. That was all she needed. So Hella advanced with each cut, brandishing the knife the way a priest would a crucifix. Hoping that it would keep the tendrils at bay as she closed the distance between them.
