"Pallavi. Princess Pallavi of Jurapur. To the further east." introduced Pallavi, doing a curt bow to guards to try to sell their claim to royalty.
Once she had made her introduction, she kept quite as she allowed her friend explain their business. Look at the guards though, they did not seem entirely convinced by the two of them and rightly so. Of course they would have have expected some sort of message or a band of servants following close to them. Pallavi bites her lower lip, unsure how to explain such discrepancies.
"You haven't received our message? How... strange..." mummered Pallavi as she tries to come up an explanation.
Normally she was just as unaccustomed to lying as Lycia was but... in this dream she had a part to play. And that part was Princess Pallavi of Jurapur she was deadest now on selling that image.
"Was the messenger not received? We sent one out nearly a week ahead but if they had never made it here-" Pallavi looked Lycia with grave concern "I can only guess they where somehow led astray. I guess that was why the guards at the front gates were not expecting our arrival."
Pallavi then looked to guards with sympathetic look on her face.
"I apologize. I know not how to explain our missing messenger, but for entourage they only accompanied us up until the last leg of the journey. Its customary in our kingdoms to leave the guards and servants behind when entering the residence of royalty. Its viewed as offensive or hostile to bring along guards and servants along in matters regarding diplomacy. Historically it was because of fears of assassins but nowadays its matter of prestige and sincerity. But I guess here it is different, which is all the more reason our people need to learn from each other." explained Pallavi as she rationalizes the guards concerns. She then looks to large cart full of pillows and proceeds to explain its purpose as well.
"Such as how it is customary for our people to come also bearing gifts, as sign of good faith between our kingdoms when opening a delegation." spoke up Pallavi, taking one of the pillows and hugging it close to her chest "They are made of finest silks of Jurapur and padded with softest fleeces of Akthala, dyed with colors that represent our banners at home. We hope that highness's find them to be worthy gifts to rest upon."
Pallavi then returns the pillow back to its cart and looks to the guards eagerly, hoping that somehow she was able to convince then that they were princesses.
