He nodded. "I know. It's just the creeps like him drive me nuts," he said, shaking his own head. "Even from my younger days, I was always... different from the other boys. I was always more... emotional, moody... And not to mention the storms that always happened when I was upset, or crying, or angry." He sighed, snuggling closer in to Noah, who at the moment seemed so much like a sheltering cove in the storm that was his life.

He nodded. "It's bad enough that I have to sneak out of the dorms. The school head wouldn't let me go to the girls dorms. Said there was too much chance it was all just an act," he said. "So I have to sneak out of the dorms early," he said. "It gets annoying, especially since I've nearly been caught a few times."

He shook his head. "I don't know how I'd explain it if I DID get caught. But then on top of that, I've got that FREAK to deal with." He sighed, and closed his eyes. Now he looked like nothing so much as a young girl in the comforting arms of her big brother. Only those that really knew the truth would know what this was: a distraught young man seeking forbidden comfort.

He nodded. "I know," he said softly, shaking his head. "I just wish sometimes that it had all been either one way or the other. Not somewhere in the middle," he said softly. "I get so tired of the constant mood swings. I've said ti before, but you've never heard it. I understand what a female goes through every month."

Noah pulled him closer. Creeps like him. "I'd punch him if I condoned that behavior," he said with a laugh. Life was too short for fights and grudges, and besides, he already had enough scars from various failed treatments and experimental surgeries. He didn't need others marring his arms, torso, and legs. "Different isn't necessarily a bad thing," he said. "And storms?" Noah was going to take a guess his abilities had something to do with that, but he'd wait to make sure.

"I'm sorry," he said breathily. Rei couldn't even sleep where he wanted to. "Get an apartment, or something? I don't know how to help..." He bit his lip. "Are your room mates at least understanding?"

Noah couldn't help but laugh when Rei mentioned "time of the month" - he knew it well enough, considering his sister had the worst ones. "You can't change being somewhere in between," he said. "But it's all physical anyway, isn't it? The only thing that matters is the fact that you feel like you are a woman, so that's what you are. You're the one who said you were more comfortable that way." He grinned teasingly.

Rei smiled, giggling somewhat girlishly. "Oh, he's not even worth the trouble of punching him." He shook his head, smiling softly as he looked up at Noah's face. But his face clouded over, as did the sky above, as Noah mentioned roommates. "I have a dorm to myself. And even then, I still have to deal with all the nasty comments taped to my door."

He shook his head. "But the reason I'm in my own dorm is because everyone they tried to pair me with decided they didn't like that I was... was... was the way I am," he said, hoping the young man knew what he meant. "As for the storm comment, I'm a weathermancer," he said, shaking his head. "Hence the wind when I pinned that scumbag to the wall."

"It'd feel good though," Noah tempted, a smirk playing over his lips. He really didn't want Rei to do anything that would get her into anymore trouble, though. Allowing herself to be harassed didn't do much good, but getting into fights that could get her in even deeper trouble with those guys wasn't worth it.

"... They tape stuff to your door," he repeated flatly. "Are you kidding me?" This was ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous. "What do you do with the shit, burn it? Throw it out, leave it there?"

Noah sighed. "If you ever need a place to stay you can stay with me," he said. "I don't mind and my room mates are never around, if they exist."

He flushed again. "You wouldn't mind sharing the room with... with... with a ho... hom... with me?" he said, unable to bring himself to state simply what he was. But even with that short little snippet of the word, he knew it would probably be clear what he had been trying to say.

He looked back down at his lap, sighing softly. "I just wish they could leave me alone. I usually burn them," he said, snapping his fingers, a wavering flame flickering into life over his palm. "But I have to be careful doing that," he said, as the flame started to grow larger, moving across his palm and up his fingers.

He shook his hand, and the flame went out. "But... you know what... it's just you in the room?" he said, pulling back slightly and looking into Noah's eyes. "Like... no one else ever goes in there but you?"

Noah knew what word he was trying say. How much criticism had he received in his life for being the way he was? It was awful. Sighing, a gentle smile crossed over his mouth and he shook his head. "Nah, not at all," he said. "I'm that way too. I keep to myself, but I think you ought to know."

He looked at the flames, nodding his head. Burning them to ashes should have helped, eased the pain - but he guessed it didn't really make things go away. Things that had been done couldn't just be undone, that wasn't how life worked.

"Yeah, basically," he responded. "I'm not in there a lot, but whenever I'm there - sleeping and whatever - I'm by myself. So you can stay any time you need to."

He flushed, and then his jaw dropped. "Really?" he murmured, looking back down at his lap. "I... I didn't think any... anyone else... Oh, who am I kidding?" he said, shaking his head, and nuzzling back against Noah. "I just never... never thought I'd meet someone... someone else that was... was like me," he said softly.

He sighed, and rested his head against Noah's chest, a smile gracing his lips and making his entire face light up. "I... I think I might just take you up on your offer then. I tend to hide in the dorm anyway, outside of class," he said, closing his eyes as he wrapped his arms around Noah's waist.

He had the feeling this was going to be the start of a very wonderful friendship. He'd never really met anyone that understood him like Noah seemed to. But that was a moot point. He sighed again, but this one had more of a contented note to it.

It was cute, how naive and insecure she seemed to be. Granted, neither were the best traits to have in a world like this one - but it was nice to see that not everyone had been tainted just yet. "There's a world full of people," he said. "You're bound to find someone like yourself one day. Better sooner than later, eh?" It was probably a relief for her, knowing she wasn't the only homosexual around. Poor kid...

As Rei's head moved from his shoulder to his chest, Noah could do nothing but simply smile and allow it. Rei needed comfort and if she found it in him then at least he had touched one life. Noah let his hand move to her hair again, stroking her head affectionately.

"Good," he said. "I don't want you to hide, you shouldn't have to. Life is too short." He hated that cliche phrase, but it was true. He just hoped he could be of help before... well, he wouldn't go there.

He smiled, and nodded softly, shaking his head for a moment. "I know what you mean. I'm actually glad that I found someone like me now rather than a year or so down the road, when I likely wouldn't be able to handle it any more."

He didn't say much else at the moment, simply enjoying being held and comforted by his new friend. Friend... that was a term he wasn't used to being able to apply to anyone for very long. Most of the time, they found out what he was, and didn't want anything more to do with him.

He looked up at Noah. "So you really don't care about my preferences, then, I guess," he said, grinning. "You'll be my first friend that I've been able to keep for more than a week," he said.

It was sad that just a year or two could completely break someone down. Noah understood, though, and it saddened him greatly to know she went through that much torment. "Rei..." he said softly, "don't ever let them get to you, okay? Because they're wrong." His voice was soft and had taken on a somewhat more serious tone now.

Shaking his head, Noah looked down at the young lady resting against his chest, smiling a bit. "Really, I don't care," he said. "It's entirely your business." In all honesty, this was making him wonder what it had to be like to be born in the wrong body. How distressing could that be? And on top of it, to be made fun of something he couldn't help... it was... awful.

"I'm sorry," he said again. God, he'd always been so fortunate, and poor Rei didn't even have friends. "Well, hopefully that'll change... how long have you been here at the school? I'm sure not everyone is like those pricks."
