Sitting in the sand not two feet from the lake's edge, Hiraani moved the brown Henna pen over the top of her right foot--she had aready done the left. The design quickly came to shape, but she kept drawing, making the simple design into something magnifiscent.

Her light-weight sandals lay discarded a few feet away, ants crawling all over them. But Hiraani didn't mind. She'd just probably end up drowling them--by holding her shoes under water--if they weren't gone by the time she wanted to leave.

Today, the eighteen-year-old was wearing a black flowy shirt that went all the way to the ground, a white tank top, and to finish it off, a black silk corset over that. The top half of her long black hair was pulled back with a clip and a few bobbie pins, and her black framed glasses adorned the bridge of her nose. Suffice to say, she was a pretty depressing--though cute--sight to behold.

Arriving only a few days ago, Jazelle wasn't too familiar with the layout of this school. He had spent most of his time in his dorm room, but it had become far too stuffy in there for him. He was used to a room in a castle with only the best, not some dorm room that was so small people were packed in there like sardines.

It was better than being married and being a king, though. The sweet taste of freedom was something he never wanted to give up. He had lived under his father's aggression after his mother died, and he was glad to be rid of it.

The hem of his green trench coat flapped at his heels, with his hands stuffed into the large pockets. He didn't have many clothes, but the ones he had could easily be adapted to culture. So far, he figured this was a normal, diverse school... he could hopefully fit in here.

Jazelle found himself near the lake. A small frown came to his face, for he always associated his mother's death with these bodies of water. He dipped his head for a moment in remembrance before walking closer and noticing a girl sitting there.

He stood over her, watching as she drew on her foot. He scrunched up his nose, finding that rather improper. "What on earth are you drawing on yourself for?" he asked her.

"What on earth are you drawing on yourself for?"

Hiraani heard the voice but didn't react to it. She'd found out the hard way that jerking while drawing Henna on oneself was a terrible thing to do(the jerking would draw a line on the skin and it wouldn't come off for weeks). So, the girl just calmly finished up the design and after capping the pen, stood to face the person.

He was definately taller than she'd figured he'd be, so Hiraani had to crane her neck to look at his face. Her eyes in slits, she dusted off the back of her skirt before she spoke. "It's a free country, that's why," she said in a quiet tone.

A small smirk tugged at the side of his lip when she stood up. He was taller than her, which caused her to stand up. The narrowed eyes took Jazelle by surprise, though. What had he done wrong? He said one thing and she automatically hated him? This awakened memories he preferred to keep in the very back of his brain.

"It's a free country, that's why."

"Indeed, it is," he said. "But the last time I checked, drawing on yourself isn't healthy. Besides, tattoos aren't very proper." An eyebrow rose slightly as he looked down at her, not too intimidated by her angry disposition.

Hiraani moved to pick up her sandals before she resumed staring at this person through her glasses frames.

"But the last time I checked, drawing on yourself isn't healthy. Besides, tattoos aren't very proper."

Rolling her eyes, Hiraani crossed her arms across her corsetted middle and shook her head slightly. "One, I don't really care about my health too much; and two, this isn't a tattoo."

Okay, so it was a tattoo, but not a permanent one!
