Katie saw Yuki move his hand, and tensed up, ready for whatever was coming. She deserved it. But, to her surprise, she felt something soft. Was.. Was Yuki patting her on the head? Not that she was complaining or anything. In fact, it actually felt kind of nice.

"You.. you don't?" Katie asked, relieved by Yuki's response. "Thank you. And I'll make it up to you. Promise!" she said, offering Yuki a smile, before noticing that he was writing something down. "Whatchu doin?" before tensing up, and holding up her hands as Yuki offered her his sheet to copy off of. "I couldn't.. I lied to you." she said, feeling it wouldn't be right to copy Yuki's work, especially after everything she'd done.

Yuki snickered. Actually snickered. He smiled at Katie incredulously, and... well. How could she think that? It wasn't about deserving things. Besides, if anyone deserved it, she did. She'd been genuinely trying to help, and had been nothing but nice to Yuki. Even though she might not have a clue about maths either, she'd tried to help. Yuki could appreciate that.

"Then I'll explain the answer to you, and you can write it down." And he did, launching into an explanation about the reasons why the sampling method could go wrong and the difficulties of completing the data before Katie could even get a word in edgewise to refuse.

The bell for lunch rang, and Yuki couldn't help but feel nostalgic. He'd realised that this situation is more or less how he'd ended up meeting Charlie. He hoped that she was doing okay, wherever she was.

"Thanks for all your help, Katie!" He said, packing away and handing her a small business card. It said "let's be friends!" on it and had a smile emoji, along with Yuki's name in English and Japanese as well as his phone number. "My number's here, in case you'd ever like to hang out."

And with that, he went to lunch. "I'll see you around!" He said, already getting out his bento box and heading to the courtyard. It was cold, but the weather was lovely today. Perfect for enjoying a boxed meal.
