Altizica sighed, staring at the rock he held in his hand. The rock was the last piece of the Izzen world he had eaten...he wasn’t quite sure why he kept it but I thought it as a memento of past journeys. Now it was simply a memento to past sins. What do you do when past sins come crawling back to you? I used to know the answer to the question but it seems time has altered the answer. Altizica thought to himself. He had an uncomfortable smile as he thought back to it. It used to bring him amusement to think of these things. Why not now? Why was this different?

As Altizica put the rock up one of his devoted entered the room, robed and unmasked, seemingly very relaxed. “My lord the child Jude has arrived for his teachings. Shall I let him in?” Altizica nodded quietly and the cultist walked off briskly to let Jude in. Altizica was still in his human form, lounging on a large couch in a rather normal looking living room if it weren’t for the obviously Eldritch paintings and large stature of a eldritch being at the far right wall.

The cultists were, to say the least, offputting. Really offputting. Like, they were just walking around with robes and masks and it was just... what.

Man, it was really weird.

They were pretty obviously being cautious around him, wearing masks to hide themselves as they led him through the (pretty normal) house. Jude had a few questions as to where the money for this house was coming from, but he was going to have to hold his tongue.

He'd come wearing mostly normal clothes, although he'd also stuck his suit on underneath, just in case. Just the torso, really, and he didn't think he'd need it. Not really.

But it didn't hurt to have.

"Thanks for having me," Jude said, because being polite had been drilled into his head from day one. "I'm still trying to adjust to this world, so help is appreciated."

Once Altizica noticed Jude he smiled. “Ah Jude, I’m glad you could make it. Please take a seat, make yourself comfortable” Altizica said with a smile. A cultist quickly rushed in and set down a tea set for Altizica. Altizica smiled “Thank you Simon. Would you like any tea Jude?” The masked cultist nodded and hurried off elsewhere.

Altizica hummed a song and poured some sweet green tea out from the kettle into one of the cups. He took a sip and looked to Jude “You know I was still confused by why you asked me to tell you about Eldritch. I mean just look at Theodore I’m sure you trust him more than me so I had to wonder......” Altizica tapped the tea cup and trialed off before taking another sip. “Well no matter you have your reasons and I won’t prod. Just tell me, what did you wish to know?” Altizica shows a happy, toothy smile.

It was, Jude supposed, a lot like how people thought his dad worked. People rushing around, helping things. Only his dad had done nothing of the sort. Hid dad did everything for himself, because he didn't trust anyone else to do things for him.

"Being realistic, Theo is really good at times. And I wouldn't be surprised if he had more readily available power than you. But he's still... a person? He's a person attached to an Eldritch, like I'm a person attached to a god. It's not quite the same thing as being that sort of eldritch, even if you're only just a fraction of that."

A fraction of a fraction. If it was anything more, they'd all be dead.

"Mostly I'm wondering how it works. Generally in my world, it was kind of understood that an Eldritch manifesting in... any respect but the most minor would drive people insane."

“Yes I suppose you are right there.” Altizica thought for a moment before Jude brought up his question. He couldn’t help but smile at it. “Yes it does. Which is why I only have a small portion of myself here but not as small as you may thing. You see here...there is a loophole. I haven’t tested it elsewhere but here at least....the human mind although fragile is adventurous and tries to comprehend things past its limits. This usually leads to amusing results but these results give oppurtunity.”

Altizica chuckled and pointed to the statue at the far end of the room. “If you noticed that statue it is of Azathoth but looking at it won’t drive those who see it insane. How? How could a being so maddening that even reading of him in a tome caused dread be made into a statue without ill effects? Simple. You turn it into something humans comprehend. If you look at depictions of Azathoth in the narrow reality they will not drive you mad. That is because they incapable of being incomprehensible. That is what I based my true form on. After some trial and error with willing volunteers I created a form the human mind could comprehend without trouble.” Altizica lounged back and drank more of his tea, his smile in full force now.

Hm. Jude took a moment to process it, feeding information back to Giltenn as he did. Everything he said was correct, which was interesting, although it was a bit light on details.

"Alright. So you..." Jude paused, considering his words. "Assuming the whole fifth dimensional theory is right, you're basically poking your finger through a hole into our reality, and you're putting a hat on it so people think it's human, without breaking our minds."

Well, breaking their minds. Jude could handle it, thanks to Giltenn.

"But how connected to the greater whole are you? Like..."

Jude paused again, trying to decide exactly how to word things.

"You seem pretty human, at times."

Altizica nodded to the statements Jude was saying. I mean why would Altizica have a reason to lie about this? He would gain anything from it so why not say the truth. How connected am I? Well I believe I mentioned before that this is place with the least focus currently. I am a collective of a larger entity yes but I am also an individual. Capable of free thought and will. I guess you could say I was born here so I’ve been affected more by the people around me than my real self even though I contain it’s memories and thoughts.”

Huh. That was new. He was an individual. That wasn't something Jude had any real understanding of. The gauntlet was Giltenn. The gauntlet wasn't a separate entity, just a manifestation of the larger whole. The idea that he was a person... Only he was like a finger puppet, wasn't he?

The confusion probably showed on Jude's face as he tried to process it.

"Oh," Jude said. "It's a connection, both ways, but mostly you take things in and it... ignores you. It's attention is elsewhere."

How much went back and forth?

"Will you ever... merge with it again?"

Altizica saw the confusion on Jude’s face and couldn’t help but smirk. “Well to simplify what exactly happened is my larger body tore off a small piece of itself and brought it here where the piece eventually developed into a smaller weaker version which was me. This type of thing has happened many many times and I’m only one of millions that has done this process.” Altizica spoke of this unphased as if he really think much of his existence that often. When Jude mention his larger portion ignoring him he thought for a moment “If I truly require help or strength I can call apon my larger form which will grant it to me....most of the time. Sometimes other portions are in more dire circumstances which require my.....his attention and I get neglected. That rarely occurs however.” Altizica sipped his tea calmy as he explained the process he had gone through millions of times before. “Will I merge again...yes eventually. Sometimes it’s merely a few months before going back. Others a few years. But I feel like this is one of my longer endeavors which takes a couple decades to a few centuries.” Altizica shrugged.

So, he was less like an actual part, and more like... Jude's brain stretched for a metaphor, but came up empty. There was nothing like that in nature. A tendril of a jellyfish, maybe? Each reaching out to a different part... Only those weren't sapient in any way. Octopus limbs? Those had brains, although it wasn't quite the same thing. Probably the closest though.

There was a plan forming, back in Jude's brain.

"I'm surprised you can... I guess respawn would be the most accurate term? I'd assume that killing the sub-yous would require the larger to recreate a new one and send it out, only it'd lose the original personality."
