Zienna didn't answer when the bartender asked if she had something against cabs. It looked as if she had something to say but stopped herself, just shaking her head softly. The reason would probably be stupid in her eyes, so why bother making herself look more like a fool than she already did? Would it make a difference? She huffed her breath out. "Walks like these... let you express... appreciation for someone who decided to stay. Despite everything..."
She expected the girl to just leave. She had no obligation to make sure she got home safe, and like she said, she was off duty. Even more of a reason to just drop the whole thing. But to Zienna's surprise, the girl actually offered to walk with her. At the very least she had given up on the cab deal. And she appreciated that the girl treated her with enough dignity to continue walking on her own.
While her path would curve ever so slightly with every step and there were times when Zienna would have to make a hard correction so she wouldn't go beyond the curb, she made progress. Slower than her normal walk, but a lot better than falling on her face.
"You? Why do you walk?" she asked. "And with a stranger?"
