Times had changed and he was here to witness it all. Unlike most demons that frown upon the existence of humans, Alfred had always found them so...fascinating. No matter what happened to these creatures, they somehow picked up the pieces and continued on with whatever little life they had left. Death was always something to fear--perhaps moreso when they knew their days were numbered with him. It was always so amusing to see his human scramble, struggle, and scream for a way to escape their fate. Others didn't even see it coming and before they knew it, their soul became his to take. The most bloodthirsty souls tasted the best, flavored with revenge, war, and pure malice.

Now these days, souls like that were a bit difficult to come by. It had been years since he had devoured such a soul. The last savory morsel he could remember was back in '45. The exotic mixture of emotions created such a decadent smell before the man bit down on the cyanide pill and put a bullet in his brain... It was divine. Speaking of meals, checked the time. Well, dinner didn't have to be made until seven and he had plenty of time to gather ingredients for it. That wasn't a problem. Hadrian could make do without him for a few hours. After all, he was an impressive human himself for catching an ancient demon hound.

He decided to take a break and get out of the sun, opting to reside in an open cafe with tea and a piece of shortcake. Here was a delicacy in itself. Humans made such fantastic sweets!

Hari has always been a fan of warm, sunny weather. It was always so bright, lovely and full of life. Days like these, he loved wandering the town alone, window shopping and watching strangers pass by. But, at this point, almost every shop is familiar — he's lived here since he was a child. He could draw a map of the island just by imagining the city layout in his mind.

He stopped by one of his favorite places: a quaint cafe, just downtown. As usual, there were a lot of interesting faces inside. He ordered a cup of Earl Grey and looked for a place to sit.

There was no shortage of available seats inside the building, but Hari caught sight of a man eating strawberry shortcake. He wondered, wasn't he overdressed for such warm weather? Regardless, Hari always found dedicated workers such as him interesting. He stood next to his table and gave him a kind smile, never really realizing that they were both dealers of death.

"Good day." He tilted his head to the seat across his. "Would you mind some company while you have your tea?"

Alfred had a hard time finding things 'interesting' on an island that was populated by the supernatural. Nobody ever stood out. Even if there was an enormous pool of different beings and creatures, they were all the same in a sense. Everyone was special. Not too long ago, he passed by some obnoxious red-haired giant who had the stink of werewolf all over him. Another was an attractive woman that had a unique mix in her auras. She seemed like she was a very observant person. Werewolf? Vampire? It was difficult to tell, but still the same regardless.

It was the same thing as he sat under the shade of the umbrella and popped another piece of cake into his mouth. The butler savored the flavor of sweet cream, the moist texture of the cake, and the natural flavor of fresh strawberries that made the treat taste that much better. He appreciated the fact that the cafe served things directly out of the kitchen and not from some undignified frozen box.

Suddenly, he was greeted and the butler looked up to a tanned individual. A dark brow rose. This man wanted to join him in some afternoon tea? Well, he checked his pocket watch. He still had time. Alfred flashed his own charming smile and gestured towards the seat. " I do not mind at all. Take a seat, good sir. What brings you here?"

"Much obliged," he said, taking a seat across the man and setting his tea down. He sighed, feeling his body start to relax after a long day of exploring. He smiled at Alfred. "I suppose I'm just here for a breather. It's nice to take a break once in a while for a cup of tea, no? I'm partial to Earl Grey and Darjeeling, myself."

Light conversation for a light afternoon. He looked at the cake the man was having. Hari himself could bake cakes, and he knew how much care would be put into making strawberry shortcakes.

"And cake is often the best companion for it, I find. Do you have much of a sweet tooth?" He picked up his cup, blew on it to cool, and took a sip.
