Mery laughed. "Hard rock." She said. "I listen to more hardrock than anything else."

Nicolas smiled and nodded, though he didn't say anything. He'd heard that there was a New Years thing going on, and he wondered if he should ask Mery to it. True, he had only just met her, but she seemed nice. And it wasn't like he was in love or anything, he just wanted to go as friends. He decided he would... the worst answer he could get was a no, right?

"Hey... um..." he started hesitantly, "you know the New Years thingy that's going on? Well... um..." He cleared his throat, immediately thinking this was a bad idea. But, there was no going back now, he'd already started the question. "Well... uh... um... if you're not going with anyone.... would you, uh.... consider... possibly... going with me?" He swallowed nervously, waiting for an answer. He was expecting the worse, but hoping for the best.

Mery smiled slightly when he finally got his question out. She had wanted to go, but she hadn't wanted to go by herself. It would be fun, but then again, she wasn't very used to being around alot of other people, which meant Pooka wasn't either. He was pretty well behaved, though.
"Sure." She said. "It sounds like fun."

Bad idea, bad idea, bad idea, bad idea.... BAD IDEA!!! STUPID IDEA!!! She'll never say yes!!! Nicolas screamed at himself in his head. Why did he have to be such an idiot? Why? He waited, being as patient as he possibly could. When she smiled somewhat, he really had no idea what to think. Was that a good smile or an apologetic smile? Yeah. Someone as nice as her probably already had a boyfriend. He just hoped she wouldn't be mean when she declined.

"Sure..... It sounds like fun."

At that, Nicolas blinked. Had she... accepted? No... no, there was no way! Could it be? Had he heard that correctly? He knew that he had... oh, gosh, she had said yes! That meant she most likely didn't have a boyfriend! Though, he wasn't going to get his hopes up. They were going as friends — just friends. "R-R-Really? Y-You mean it?!" he said, a bright smile coming to his face. "What time should I pick you up and all?"

He was happy. Very happy.

Mery shrugged. "Whenever's fine." She could sense that he was happy about it. She was too, it did sound fun, but she usually didn't get really excited about these things.

Nicolas nodded his head. He quickly thought of when he should pick her up... he didn't really know, but he supposed around seven would be good, since it was most likely going to go until after midnight. It was a New Years Eve party, after all. "Um.... is.... is around seven ok?" he asked her.

"Sure." Mery said. She wasn't sure what time it started at, so that was definitely fine with her. She only knew about the party, because she'd heard people talking about it.

Nicolas smiled. "Great," he said. "I'll see you then! Bye, Mery!" He slowly turned around and walked out of the lounge, and as soon as he was out of there, his smile widened a little bit more. Even if they were going just as friends, he was happy to be going. Now all he actually needed to do was find some dress clothes.
