Mery almost groaned. It was kind of like a game for her. Seeing how long she could keep people from knowing she was blind. She was glad when Nick changed the subject to her dog. "Pooka." She said. At hearing his name, the dog sat up on her lap and looked around just in case he'd missed something. "My parents got him for me last year."

Pooka? That was a cute name. "Heh, cool," Nicolas said. "I've never had a pet." The young man was tempted to scratch behind the dog's ears, but he stopped himself from doing so. He'd always loved dogs, even if he hadn't really ever had a pet himself. "What kind of a dog is he?"

Mery smiled. "A west highland terrior, I guess. Well, that's what my dad told me." She laid her hand on the arm of the chair to make sure that the hot pink dog leash was still there.

Mery smiled. She closed her eyes tightly and a tiny beam of light appeared on her fingertips. She held it for barely ten seconds before it dissapeared. "That's not very impressive, but yeah. I can read minds too..." She opened her eyes. "What about you?"

Nicolas was, in fact, kind of impressed by the beams of light. He couldn't do something like that, after all. When reading minds was mentioned, he blinked. "Oh, no, your powers are impressive..." he told her. "I can only control people's dreams. That isn't really as cool as light beams and mind reading." He smiled somewhat.

Mery shrugged. "I think controlling people's dreams would be cool." She told him. "I don't use either much. 'Cause it's kind of rude to invade people's thoughts." She explained.

"I suppose it is rude..." Nicolas said. "But either way, both of your powers are cool." He was silent for a few moments, just looking around the lounge. Not many people were around, but oh well, not like it mattered really. "So, how do you like this place?" he asked her.

Mery shrugged. She didn't really know whether or not she liked it. "I guess. I mean, it's nice. I just haven't met very many people yet." She paused. "What about you?"

Nicolas nodded his head after hearing her opinion. "Same here, pretty much," he said. "I haven't met many people here either, and I haven't been here long enough so.... yeah." The young man shrugged his shoulders. He bit the inside of his lip, going silent, trying to think of more to talk about.
