Octain held class by the lake. Going over Hydromancy as a whole. Though he wasn't as adept as he would like to be at it. He enjoyed the practice with it. He looked to the sky for a moment as a small ball of water slowly descended back into the lake. Before turning around to the class.

"Thank you all. I believe that is it for class today. All of you are dismissed. Mister Bateman please stay I require a moment of your time." He said. Awaiting for all the students to leave before undoing his backpack for a moment as he dropped it on the ground. Taking a moment to go through and pulling out a water bottle for them both. Handing one out as he kept the other for himself. IF he didn't take it he placed the one for Carl into his bag and shifted his mask to take a drink from it.

"Well.. Carl. I have a few things for you. One you are up for honors in my classes. You excel at all my theoretical work. Have gone far beyond the expectations for practicals. Though. I do have one last final test for you, Arch Magus. This will be one worthy of your title. As well as of mine." He said. Finishing his water bottle though taking his time. Placing the empty water bottle in his backpack as not to litter the ground as he awaited for either Carl to finish his. IF he didn't take it he just teleported his backpack to his classroom. So his priceless items would not be damaged.

"It has been a while since we sat down and had some kind of conversation. Or do you wish to get right down to the test?" He said curiously. Trying to find out just how respected he was. A master a magic for humans. To a master of magic for Elves. On rank. They were next to on par with one another. Though he just knew.. Elves were more adept at magic than any human will ever be.

Even so he was going to make this test tough for Carl. A strong wizard in his own right.

Octain always enjoyed short conversations with Carl. Always down and to the point.

"Reckless as always. Sometimes.. Your sharpened tongue will not save you." He said shaking his head. "You still do not understand anything. Yet you understand more than most of the classes. Quite an interesting person you are. Ignorant. Self centered. Yet I understand why. Seems the Arcane has deemed us two sides of the same coin as it were." he said with a grin under his mask. He wanted to see just how far he could push this man. See what makes this man tick.

"May wish to call your wife. Because neither of us are leaving this test unscathed. Your FINAL test. Before I deem you worth of your honors. Is where we show that the sword is mightier than the pen. No more writing. No more reading. This is a war of attrition. I wish to see your resolve for your future." He said confidently. Showing the same arrogance that his student was showing.

"Your test.." he said. Tapping on his mask. "Is to remove this mask from my face. With three simple rules. Number one; You may use all your tools that you have at your disposal. Rule two; Should the mask break because of your spells or actions. You fail. Should you fail to do so by sun down. You fail. The whole city is our play ground. No more student. No more teacher. you and I."

Carl must have known that Octain wasn't going to make this easy. He placed his palm on his spell book. Uttering the language of his circle for a moment. Chanting a proper rite before combat. Before a duel between only two men.

His orange eyes looking at Carl. "At the sound of the next bell. Your test starts."

Octain for the rest of the time would on stand in silence. Until he heard the next bell. Octain made sure that he had a few safety protocols left in place. He was prepared for this. At the same time. It would take some time for him to learn of Carl's own powers. He has gotten glimpses as well as his own fair share of hits from him besides that. Octain was ready and prepared. Even had his own extra set of eyes in the sky to help him out.

He gave Carl the rules. Though Octain was ensured the abide by them. His familiar was his arm and extension. Octain was going to make this battle worth it. A legend.

As they both stood in silence for a moment.

"Pathetic." He said. His orange eyes narrowed at Carl. They both had their own vast amounts of knowledge and Octain understood that. Carl's self confidence. Octain's confidence in others. His selfishness. Octain's selflessness.

Octain studied his target before the hearing the bell ring. Students being sent off to classes. His mind was clear. His body had time to prepare. His mind was at ease. His link he made sure was better than it had ever been as Octain took it upon himself to make the first move. His spell book floating behind him as the ground shook. A skeleton arose from the ground. Causing parts of the earth to shake and breath as the skeleton came out to about the hip bone. Octain wanted to start off this fight with a real big bang. He had jumped off of it to stand on top of the school. Peering down from high vantage point at Carl.

Octain lifted his hand and smashed it into the ground.

As did the skeleton. Attempting to crush Carl under the skeletons hand. Octain had tried his best to make it seem like he was still on the on the creature instead of on top of the school.

"Let us see if Elven eyes are as good as people say."

he thought to himself before hearing a voice inside his head.

'Do not under estimate this opponent Lord Magistar. You go against one of the best. His self confidence is well placed.' He heard back from his mountain.

This only gave Octain more confidence in his own abilities. Though this would be a tough foe to pass up.
