The simple touch of Jericho’s hand upon his shoulder and the soothing sound of is voice was enough to calm Ettein down significantly and put a stop to his rambling. He hadn’t even realized all of what he said as his thoughts were a racing mess of convolution that he couldn’t help but spout in his nervousness. Jericho’s words had him thinking though; why exactly was he so embarrassed about shedding? It had always been a private matter for him and he find it rather gross; the notion of shedding a layer of skin. That was a bit silly though, wasn’t it; to be grossed out by something which was completely natural for his specie. Actually, having someone else know wasn’t all that bad and in a sense, it was good even. He trusted Jericho; even though they had only known each other for roughly two weeks now, the nephilim had been completely accepting toward him and he was very grateful for that. Jericho meant a lot more to him than Ettein probably realized; he was his first friend and the first person other than his guardian to know so many personal things about him. He had never felt this comfortable around someone to be so easily open with them and it was nice and something he valued as well as the words Jericho was now speaking.
He wasn’t sure what to say. What could he say? Here he was, self-conscious and rambling like an idiot whereas Jericho was being so understanding, acceptable as he had been since the first day they ran into each other and not to mention faltering as well. Though he found himself speechless, his feelings, although they could probably be felt easily by the empathy, were displayed clearly upon his face as a faint blush which only deepened in color at the next question. Had he really said that? He’s already admitted once or twice, that he liked Jericho but it was intended more as a friend. His feelings toward the nephilim made themselves known fairly early on in the two weeks they’ve known each other.
“Yes, actually.†He confirmed Jericho’s question although a bit shyly. “I uhm…like you a lot to be honest.†He gave a small smile, pulling his knees up to his chest and leaning with his back against the wall that the bed was beside. He normally wasn’t a very assertive person but he really did feel comfortable around Jericho and felt it was ok to admit. “You’re not like other people and I know it sounds cheesy but…I’ve never felt this way about anyone before.†There, it was completely out in the open now. He gave something of a sigh, wrapping his arms about his legs and leaning his chin on his knees when Jericho stood up. Though, at the last of what Jericho said, he glanced back up, a look of confusion on his face.
“What do you mean you don’t deserve this?†He questioned. What didn’t he deserve? To be liked by someone…liked more than a friend? “Why is that so hard to believe?†He gave a sheepish smile, turning his gaze away from Jericho once more and placing it on the far wall instead. “You accept me for who I am, you’re nice, funny and interesting and I…I feel like I can tell you anything….†He trailed off, leaving out other things such as the fact that he was extremely attractive and smelled nice. To be honest, he wasn’t sure how the guy was still single.
