Kane Vulpes loved to read. He didn't have a favorite genre, but he could just pick a random book off of the shelf and get into it. This afternoon was a perfect time to do so. The book chosen today was on US history, and Kane was enjoying it.

There the fox shifter sat, his animal ears twitching when something interesting, his tail spilling off of the side of the chair, dangling near the floor. Kane Vulpes was having a good time, though today had been a bit boring. He could use a touch of excitement.

The sudden downpour sabotaged Ursa's afternoon routine. While hunting down nonsentient squirrels was a favorite hobby of hers, she knew that if an adult caught her outside in this weather, they'd make a huge fuss about it. Hopefully, the rain would let out soon, but she needed to find somewhere indoors on campus to retreat to for the time being. Her ideal indoor situation was filled with nooks and crannies, like a cave of course. The school's library would do fine, minus the books.

She walked into the library soaking wet, her feet dragging in massive amounts of mud from outside. Her eyes scanned down the isles, trying to find something of interest while waiting for the rain to pass. The shelfs were crammed full of books with uninteresting titles that she could only see if she squinted hard enough. Ursa was bored out of her mind, minutes passed not a single thing could capture her attention for more than five seconds until she saw a pair of fox ears.

Her eyes lit up, ecstatic to see a fellow animal in such a painfully dull place. She shuffled on over to the boy as water trailed behind her. He looked... weak upon closer examination. Definitely not her first pick for a hunting buddy, so dainty in comparison to her already strong build. Nevertheless, birds of the feather had to flock together and so did other animals.

" Hey!" Ursa said loudly, a confident smirk on her face. " I'm Ursa! We're both animals! We're allies now." She proclaimed, throwing down her fist.

Finally, something happens, Kane thought to himself as the pompous bear declared him as an ally. Perhaps the bear was a bit rude, but that added some more excitement. "Alright, sure.", Kane agreed to the demand.

This bear obviously had something in mind in declaring her partnership. There wasn't much point in not asking about her ideas.

"I'm Kane Vulpes. Since you obviously want something to happen, what did you have in mind, 'Ursa'?", Kane inquired. Normally, he'd be more polite, but he decided to skip formalities because of this bear's arrogant attitude. Although, she did appear around the same age as him, so they'd be an interesting pair sure to spice up Kane's day.

To her surprise, the fox was quick to accept his new role, and in turn, she showed him a rare satisfied grin. While Ursa was slightly bewildered by his sudden acceptance, she took note of this, apparently inferior and just as bored children made easy recruits. Of course, any creature who stepped foot on this planet would want to be be allies with a certain mighty she-bear, her newfound recruitment method was a massive success, at least in her eyes.

In all honesty, Ursa had not thought as far as to what she would do with this ally after recruitment. The thrill of the chase was mainly what she was after, and the thrill of the chase is what she got in a matter of seconds. Of course, she had yet to 'win', anything was better than admitting defeat over a silly activity.

" You know what, I like you!" Ursa declared, her grin still intact. " Well, take a look outside..." She suggested, longingly gazing beyond the library window herself before taking a dramatic sigh. " The rain is terrible because we have to stay inside, I hate it." Ursa explained, clearly frustrated the natural entity, " so you're going to help me kill it!"

Well, Kane had found himself something. He wasn't sure how good of a something it was, but it was his only ticket to some excitement for now, so he had to go with it nonetheless. Ursa probably did see Kane as a slave, but she'd shown a bit of excitement at this, so he figured to just go along with it.

The rain. This bear wanted to kill the rain. It did explain why she was in the library, rather than outside. He took a look out the window and, indeed, there was a downpour out there that didn't appear to be letting up anytime soon.

"Well then, how are we going to.. kill the rain?" Kane asked the obvious question. His eyes sparked with a hint of excitement. He didn't mind being wet too much, but that wasn't the point.

Kane had found a friend.
