A small smile rose up on Sage's face at Seyyal's compliance. She had no doubt that Seyyal would be open to talking, but it was always a discomforting thing for a friend, or anyone, to ask for a private conversation. The fact that she was even willing to make jokes to lessen the tension was reason enough for Sage to say,
"Thank you. I'm also happy to hear you're not literally all-ears. That is an ailment I don't know how to cure. But on the bright side, you would be fantastic at hearing, something that everyone else here seems to already be great at."
The slight bitterness at how powerful everyone here was not lost in Sage's tone. She had relatively little issue with being the weak one in the group. She's the healer. She heals. But here, surrounded by people who all seemed to have shape-shifting, an enhanced body, or auras that turned a situation in their favor, it was hard to not feel inadequate.
Sage was starting to realize how pessimistic she was being. Was she always this bitter, or was this only a recent thing? It was becoming painfully apparent that she was having trouble keeping up a good mood most of the time nowadays.
