Seeing Phoebe smile and blush made Smokey do the same thing. Their smile widened into a large dorky grin at seeing Phoebe get all flustered.
Smokey managed to hold back their grin to a more reasonable size as Phoebe explained the game. This did seem ridiculously easy. But Smokey was suspicious. Anything that looked ridiculously easy was more often than not annoyingly difficult. That was how game designers got you to keep coming back for more.
That just made Smokey more competitive. They were getting themself all pumped up to try their hand at skee-ball when Phoebe missed her mark and started laughing. And laughing. And glitching. And laughing. And,
Oh, wow, that's a lot of glitching. Smokey forgot why they were getting so pumped up and ended up laughing too, all the while admiring how
weird Phoebe looked when glitching. And weird was cool.
Smokey waited for both them and Phoebe to calm down before talking again. The weird looks others gave them didn't even matter (not like Smokey wasn't used to them).
"I'm all excited to give it a try now. I'm all about accuracy and balance. I'll be a skee-ball champion." As if this was a relevant gesture for skee-ball, Smokey punched the air to let out their excess energy.
