Teacher's Lounge Party
This is the official event thread for the Teacher's Lounge Party event.

No posting order. Rapid fire encouraged. Setting is Teacher's Lounge, 7pm. Staff members encouraged to participate.

Michael Tyler Ashworth

Never forget the teachers, the administration said, after literal years of forgetting the teachers. Of course, of course, they were putting on a party for staff now. It was real nice too — pretty decorations, streamers, lights, flowers. The buffet table was top notch. Michael was surprised for the budget of this, honestly. What do you mean it wasn't just $9 and pocket lint?

Still, the party felt a little too safe for his tastes. Here he was, in a room full of 30 and 40-somethings, and they were drinking, what was this, Hawaiian punch? At some point, did they trade their joy to be able to grade papers, or what? Luckily for them, Michael stashed a decent amount of alcohol in the Teacher's Lounge for those special Headache days. He popped open a full bottle of vodka when nobody was looking, and very expertly poured the entire thing into the mix.

He was pretty sure some people saw him. He didn't care! The night was just starting, and it was about to pick up real soon.

the evening for how it had been going seemed rather bland. Everyone was still thinking about the paper that needed graded, projects for the students to work on, or the occasional personal life stuff that always cropped up even at work. For Trent it was more of the fact he felt to old to talk to the other teachers. Sure in human form he looked late 40s human wise but being a dragon older then the birth of civilization from another dimension it was hard to connect sometimes with his fellow teachers.

Eventually he wandered over to the snacks table picking up a plate and loading it up with what he hoped was meat of one kind or another. Which lead him to notice one of his colleagues spiking the punch with a clear alcoholic beverage. That made Trent smile to himself as he fondly remembered his youth where he actually COULD get drunk on mortal brand drinks. He did work his way over and putting his plate down filled a cup of the now alcoholic punch and looking over to Michael. "You would happen to have anything stronger and potentially magical to drink would you?"

Michael smiled at his co-worker, mischievous, as he took a drink that was 90% vodka now. He knew it. No well-thinking adult wanted to play charades like those boring white people in American movies.

"Depends. Are you going to tell on my stash? This isn't exactly board-approved." Snitches always ruined the fun for everyone. He was already taking a great risk putting his stash out now, out of all these people. But he did tell his husband he was going to be nicer, if only because nice people didn't get in trouble as much. Michael shushed Trent for a bit, winking, before circling the table and prying open the vent. He pulled out an aquamarine bottle which held an unknown, bubbling liquid and offered it to Trent. "Here you go, straight from Gomorrah. Have fun, you crazy kid."

Trent couldn't help but laugh quietly as his colleague called him a kid as he took the bubbly blue liquid. "My boy, I am a trickster at heart. There would be no fun in it for anyone if I was to spoil this little secret." Trent gave the young man a wicked grin letting just enough of his form shift back into a dragon to show wicked preadtory teeth and his Draconian eyes.

It was just for a flash though as he reverted back to human teeth and normal brown eyes. Around his shoulders and at the corners of his eyes he could feel the weight of the ages fall upon him as he look around at the young mortals around the room. "Oh I do envy the young, even if you youngsters dont feel young yourself." with that he gave a small sad smile before taking a bit from the food on his plate.

This was utterly awkward for Mina-Kay. Though they had been on the island as a staff member for quite some time; there was a difference that they regularly felt in between them and the other staff. The girl's social skills were not very high, to say the least. After having to dart away from the topic of their weird appearance, it was rather hard to hold a good conversation when you had to look at people through a thick veil. Of course, this was not their choice at all. In order for them not to harm anyone, it was mandatory.

They were sitting in one of the love seats, trying to look as happy as they possibly could when they knew that no one was going to approach them. Oh yes, many of the faces looked very familiar; they'd even talked to some of them too. The ones that they knew as acquaintances were off on their own conversations, or too far away for them to casually wave them over. Their hands cupped a drink of punch as they wiggled their nose around under the blackness.

Jaqueline sipped at a cup of water carefully clenched in her large gecko hand. Yeah, boring—she saw the punch being spiked and knew right away that she was going to be the ‘boring teacher’ at this party. She would if she could, but she was pretty sure alcohol would kill her.

She had been chit-chatting a little with Lydia Sinclair, but at some point Lydia excused herself from the main party room. Jaqueline grinned to herself, as she knew Lydia was looking for someone in particular. Like a little school girl with a crush. Unfortunately, that left Jaqueline in a room of teachers who she hadn’t had the opportunity to really talk to before. Being the big, weird lizard lady in a room full of strangers was always a bit uncomfortable. But she got the sense she wasn’t the only one feeling like a ‘weirdo’ in the room—and it was kind of silly, wasn’t it? Literally everyone had something strange about them on Manta Carlos.

Jaqueline sauntered over to the love seats besides Mina-Kay. With her large tail, it was a lot more comfortable there than on one of the small chairs at the tables set up for the party. She sat down with her legs crossed and her tail draped over her side of the couch and somewhat tucked under the couch so that it wouldn’t get stepped on.

“You’re the…Geology teacher, right?” Jaqueline inquired to Mina-Kay with a friendly smile. “I’m Jaqueline.”

She didn’t hold out a hand to shake; instead adjusting her tailor-made jacket specialized for her unique body. Sometimes people would take one look at her huge, reptilian hands and be too anxious to shake. When it came to introductions, she preferred to let the other person make the hand-shaking offer first—rather than putting her hand out only to get an uncomfortable stare.

Their alone time was cut short when someone joined them on the love seat. It took a few seconds to finally turn their head around to see who, or what it was. The lizard like appearance didn't scare them at all; rather, it was actually comforting to have her beside them. A strand of their burgundy hair was then pushed off to their shoulder. The lime green dress that they wore showed off their somewhat chubby stature, but they didn't mind to show it off. "Y-Yes, that is me." Mina-Kay's shy smile was the only part of their face that was clearly visible. Though the girl wasn't looking directly at the lizard, they understood and acknowledged her presence.

"Jaqueline is it?" Their shy smile grew a bit more as they felt themselves get a bit calmer. "What a lovely name darling, mine is Mina-Kay; though you many have already known that." Their right hand let go of the drink in order for Jaqueline to shake it if she wanted to. "I apologize but, what is your position?"

Ah, Rhydian loved parties. His bread and butter, or something like that. This specified teachers, which he was not, but he was staff, and he'd be damned if he didn't get to go and party. Unfortunately, work parties were the worst. Still, a party was a party.

So, with all that in mind, Rhydian entered the room like he owned it. Yep. It hit him the moment he stepped into the room. The stench of alcohol. Oh shit, this place had booze? Maybe things wouldn't be so bad. Rhydian would be better off not getting drunk, though he supposed it didn't matter if his tail showed through or not. He made his way over to the punch bowl and took a cup to swig it down. Yeah, that tasted like some grade-A liquor, all right.

Oh, hey! Someone that looked like he wasn't a Snorlax with a middle-aged crisis. Michael hung around the table with a drink in hand, sliding next to him. The back of his head was all, whoa hey, don't be too smooth. You're married now. Michael took its advice to consideration, because he was sensible on top of being intelligent and devilishly handsome.

"Hey! Would you kick my ass if I told you I'd never seen you here before?" He chuckled. "Not trying to be insulting. Just busy. You know, with adult stuff."

"Woah, hello." Rhydian laughed at the question. "Nah, man. Not unless I was drunk and wanted a good bar fight. Wait," he squinted, "I wouldn't pick you I'd pick.... the biggest person in the room. There was a rule about that. Onto these imaginary adult things. What are those? Do they happen to involve whatever magic well of booze that was put in this punch? Because I'd be more inclined to listen then."
