He resisted the urge to laugh, having just a polite expression for the moment, until Nebula explained her own upgrading situation, to which Neon felt tempted to convey: "I feel a bit jealous now, after all you have your father and all!", his neon tail wagging either denied that he was jealous, or affirmed that he was joyful for Nebula having a family. Yet, there was no denying: he too had his own family in a different way.

Neon's tail came to an abrupt stop when Nebula mentioned her dads stopped being her dads, and moved again when she mentioned that she had been looking for a family, only to stop yet again when she mentioned how her time is running short, and his ears even flopped as well as his tail going limp. "I-Is there anything we can do to extend your existence? Maybe create a backup or something?", he sounded like he could break in tears.

The news did Neon a number. And how. His tail and ears became so translucent that one had to put effort in seeing them, his skin went pale and he had trouble keeping his human disguise. The thought that he could die without doing anything wrong, just because all magic could simply disappear. As he wobbled back and tripped on a root, the digital silk snapped and vanished, his human form gone.

He was alive, that is something in itself. Not only that, but Neon was still breathing, just in a sort of shock, and for obvious reasons, he kept on and on mumbling "Don't wanna die. Don't wanna die. Don't wanna die. " over and over, with an occasional whine in his tone, unmoving eyes.
