Talks of Trick or Treating

Nia lay on her bed, a book in her hands and a notebook in front of her. On the floor lay piles and piles of books. It was a wonder how she kept track of everything and didn't have a million over due books at the library. Well, there were definitely a few but at this point she knew the librarians well and they knew her. She always returned her books..sooner or later.

Aedan had brought Nia food after class and had been hanging out since then. There had been some silence for a bit while Nia flipped through the book in her hand on Japanese paintings when Aedan spoke up.

"Trick or treating?" Nia asked, almost confused as she pulled her eyes away from her book and up to her friend. He was more like a brother at this point but that wasn't something she really knew how to verbalize.

"Oh..for Halloween..." She mumbled realizing the meaning behind his words. "Well, I...I don't know. I guess that is something we could do..."

Nia did enjoy candy. She could never manage to eat very much at once, which was probably a good thing. She thought about all the candy she could collect from a night of trick or treating; it would probably last her a whole year!

She smiled back at Aedan and nodded. As long as he was around she knew she had nothing to worried about. She always felt safe with him by her side, no matter what her anxiety told her. Even the idea of wandering around a million other people all costumed and masked didn't scare her as much as she thought it would when she knew that Aedan would be right there the entire time.

She took the flower as she sat up on her bed, watching it dissipate. "No one is as good as you are though. So long as your coming with me...then I think it sounds like fun!"

Nia liked the feeling of Aedan's hand rummaging through her hair. It was always a tangled mess as she just couldn't seem to get herself to keep up with regular grooming habits. Most of her personal care was managed by Makara and Aedan. She usually remembered breakfast for herself but her other meal was almost always brought to her by Aedan. Makara made sure she was in class and staying on top of her homework and a combination of the two of them helped Nia to remember things like showering and going outside sometimes. She was basically a child who needed constant attention.

She didn't really have any ideas for costumes. She wasn't really sure what people dressed up as besides the basic things but most of those were scary and Nia didn't like scary. Maybe they could come up with something cute and not scary.

Aedan's next words made Nia feel a bit apprehensive. She was sure that anyone that Aedan liked was a good person and Nia wanted to meet them but somehow the situation felt more serious than he was acting like.

"What if she doesn't like me.." Nia said softly. It was less of a question and more a statement her anxiety. She began to fiddle with the hem of her dress. It was her favorite blue one and some of the threading on the trim had begun to fray from all the fiddling she did with it.

Nia sighed softly and nodded. If Aedan said everything would be alright then she would trust him. She just wasn't a big fan of meeting new people but if it was for Aedan, she would do it.

She was quite for a moment before speaking, "So... What are we going to dress up as?"

Nia had actually just read Alice in Wonderland last week. She had told Aedan how much she had enjoyed it.

"Can I just wear my blue dress and get some accessories to make it look more like Alice? I just really like this dress.."
