Shay sat in the sand right where the waves met the beach, the cool water sliding up to her waist. Terribly cold, but refreshing too. "What do you want for the necklace? I don't have any money, but I could write you something...or something."

"Huh?" He looked at her confused, but sat down to join her. "What do you mean what do I want? It's a gift, Shay-shay. No..." He smirked and put his finger through the loop and tugged it gently once or twice. "Well, I guess there is a string attached." He said, giving a weak laugh at his own bad joke. "You liked it. It made you happy, so I got it."

Shay watched, very still, as he tugged at the necklace. She looked away momentarily. "I want to repay you. I'd feel better if I were to do so." Shay wasn't used to getting gifts any time of the year, let alone for no reason.

"Hm... Um.." Kenta thought for a moment, then smiled. "Alright then. I... Want you to show me another cool place tomorrow. Something great like the view from that tree. Deal?"

Shay nodded, sticking her hand out to shake his. "Deal." She'd have to think of one; she had a few places she went to when alone that he might have liked. She looked back out to the sea, it was pitch black, like a painting. "Ever wonder what it would be like to lay out there and just watch the stars?" [/parsehml]

He nodded and shook her hand.
He looked out again and shook his head. "I did... The answer is cold. Really really cold." He glanced at her and smiled. "I bet it'd be nice in the summer though. When you don't end up with frost bitten tails when you come out." His tails swayed, splashing lightly into the water as it came up to them.

Shay reached over and touched one of his tails, wondering if they were as soft as she assumed they would be. They were. She didn't pet it for long before she had her hands on her lap, legs and feet numb from the water. "What is your biggest fear in the entire world, Kenta?"

As she pet his tails, a weird tingle went up his spine. It was a good feeling, and he had started to lean close to her before she stopped and he quickly righted himself.
Her question caught him off guard. His eyes got wide for a second before he shook his head to try and clear it. He had one hand holding his head, covering his blue eye. His expression was similar to when he woke up from his nightmare. "I.. Where did that come from..?" He asked.

Shay looked at him and shrugged. "It's a normal thing to ask, isn't it? That's how you learn about people; you ask about them." She figured his biggest fear was becoming the monster he saw in his nightmares. Because it only seemed fair, Shay said, "Mine is everything and everyone I love being snatched away from me."

"Mm..." He nodded and looked down. "Mine... well, until today, mine was..." He laughed a little. "That my nightmares were real. Guess... that cant be a fear now though..." He shook his head. "Now... You can probably guess my new one... Becoming him... hurting people... People I know. People I..." He held his head in his hands. "And I'll just be watching... Helpless to stop him... It was bad enough watching... Those people I... If he did that to people here... To Laetus... To you, I..."
