He looked at her with a sneer like attitude, why wouldn't she apologize, after what I've done to some of the people only about an hour from here, she'd only wish she was sorry! Indignant thoughts clouded his mind and thought as Valentine curtly said, "Yea. Sorry."

His eyes had closed and all he thought about was that remark Amelia told him. He smiled lightly, and his anger had not diminished, but was chipped. Amelia was too kind to him. "She's so good to me." He thought aloud in a whisper.

Ember began to feel uncomfortable around the guy, as well as disgust. He's ignorant andrude She thought bitterly. Her friendly smile was replaced by a does-it-look-like-i-care expression. She knew he didn't mean it, and why he said it, Ember was lost.

Then, the boy laughed at himself for something he thought about, and said something to himself. All Ember could hear was "Good to me". "What did you say?" She asked, sounding as friendly as possible, though inside she was angry and constantly trying to keep her cool, or else she'd blow.

Vivien smiled weakly. These people thought she was weird? "I'm Vivien," she smiled nicely. She turned around and grabbed a small jacket, pulling it on so that maybe they'd stop looking at her so strangely.

"Who's good to you?" she asked, wondering what the heck he was talking about.

"Hm? Oh...I guess I must have said that aloud. Her name is Amelia. I just think that she is too patient with my bad temper and all." He shrugged and continued to stare out into the ocean. "Glad to have her there for me."

He smiled, six months...that's all it takes. His eyes shifted towards his hand and then to the sand.

For a slipt second, Ember didn't realize that the other girl had spoken. SHe said her name was Vivien. "Hey, Vivien, I'm Ember," She said with a smile, ignoring the other boy next to her. Vivien stood up and pulle don a jacket. "You getting cold?" Ember asked, since she had come out to get a tan but not she was putting on a jacket.

Vivien then asked the boy the same question she asked him earlier, so Ember, feeling obligated to, looked back over at the boy, waiting for an answer. He said that he was just thinking aloud about a girl named Amelia. "Was she a close friend of yours?"

"She still is." He looked up, why did they have to know? Valentine then looked at the horizon, and then at the sun. It wasn't that cold out, so why was she putting on a jacket. Then again, she did have on a bathing suit.

He shrugged and continued to look. "You have any close friends. Probably do, since you can hold your anger in better than others." He had noted that she was giving him the cold shoulder.

She was better than most.

"Oh, well that's good. You guys still keep in touch." Ember smiled, her anger minimizing slightly.

Ember looked down from the ground to the sea. "Actually, I don't. I've only had one close friend, and he's gone. I lost touch with him when I came here, and he went elsewhere too." A wave of memories with Jared flowed into her mind, and Ember could almost feel tears approach, but they didn't. It was just a feeling.

"Thanks, i guess." She didn't know whether to take whathe said as a compliment or something else. She decided to take it as a comliment.

"Well, maybe he can meet you on Christmas or some other holiday when we have off from school. I mean really, I'm probably going to give her something special." He already knew what it was. It was big and brown.

"And then hang with her for the day. Maybe you could do the same for your friend."

Ember smiled at the boy's effort to get in contact with Jared, but it was usless. "I'd like too, and i've tried...but i can't. I don't even know where he went off to...the main reason we went are sparate ways was because he did something to me thati could never forgive him for."

"Well, at least you still have someone you can stay close to and who's there for you," Ember said, giving a weak smile.
