There was so much that Amber was eager to talk to her mom about, mostly regarding her school project and how she angel was partnered with Remiel of all people. Personally Amber thought this would be a good thing as she hope to show him that not all demons were evil but she totally understand the hesitation from the rest of her family. Especially considering Remiel's previous remarks against demons and that whole scuffle he had with her sister. But where Dalia hoped to changed his ways with her usual way of just... fighting things out, Amber hoped that she could make Remiel second guess himself by just her being herself. Amber knows that she is a good person and deep down, she knows Remiel is too. He just needs to see it.

First... she was going to need complete her summoning circle to just as her mom instructed so that she can summon. Her mom Chloe had shown her and guided her through these before but this was the first time she was to do it on her own. Even with preparation and practice, part her was nervous that she would somehow mess things up. So before she began the incantation she checked the magical circle to make sure that not one mark was misaligned and the candles properly spaced. Content, she would step outside of the circle, reciting the spell in her head three times before she says the incantation out loud. As she peeked on of her eyes open she would see the candle flames flicker and the magic circle let out a low glow. All that was left was to give it few moments before her mom was summoned and be suddenly appear before her very eyes... assuming that she conducted the summoning properly.

A puff of dense black smoke burst from the center of the summoning circle. The smoke began to condense into a very familiar silhouette, with a pair of intensely glowing white eyes. It stood over Amber, staring at her - and then the smoke seemed to all fall away at once, snuffing out the candles and revealing Chloe underneath.

She blinked a few times. She looked around the room. And then, she looked back down at Amber and beamed. "It worked perfectly! Beautiful work, Amber." The spell was baby's first black magic. It was a fairly simple summoning ritual with all the safety mechanisms and protections from the summoned demon stripped away - but it could still be very useful. If it was an emergency and Chloe had gone missing, Amber could use this spell to get her back. It wasn't unlike what Chloe had done for Amber when she had been kidnapped. Now they could both save each other from such things.

Chloe only made vague references to what it could be used for, though. She didn't want Amber to grow up worrying about as many things as Chloe did.

She took a moment to look down around her feet and admire Amber's linework. Chloe almost wanted to take a picture of this summoning circle. It was a shame that she couldn't. All of this stuff Amber had made for the spell would have to be destroyed soon, too, as they both knew. But they could leave it out for another hour or so to admire it.

Amber wince as ink black cloud formed in front of her. So far so good, just as she and her mother rehearsed. But to see that she did indeed summoned her mom, she had to wait for moment for the cloud to dissipate. Within blacken clouds she saw a dark humanoid form take shape with eyes that shone like a pair of headlights. Soon the smoke gave way as it rained like dust falling to the ground, the candles die out, and in the middle of that intricate circle she made the silhouetted figure took on a more familiar appearance: Chloe Black.

"Mom! Mom I did it! I brought you here!" gushed Amber whom without a second's hesitation, leapt to her mom and gave her a big hug around her waist. Amber could not help but grin with joy with her accomplishment, as well as relieved that she didn't accidentally bring some terrible hellspawn into the house.

As she continued to hold her arms around her mom, she glanced down at her handiwork, still marveling over the spell she just preformed. This was a first big step for her for further her studies with her mom as well have a means of bringing her mom to her in case of emergencies.

"Heh... I did pretty good right mom?~"

"You sure did." Chloe hugged her, smiling. Gods, she was so cute, and smart, and — it was all just hitting her again, how well Amber was turning out. Despite the times she'd failed to protect her, despite all the uncertainty Amber had to live through. "I'm so proud of you I can't stand it," Chloe added.

Once the hug ended, she felt as though she had to reiterate an earlier lecture. "Again, though. This kind of summoning doesn't have any of the safety measures you would use if you were summoning someone you don't already know and trust a lot. And if you ever want to do that sort of thing, for whatever reason - You'll talk to me first, right?"

She'd pause for Amber to answer.

"Anyway. Let's get this stuff cleaned up. And start thinking about what you want to have for dinner." Amber definitely deserved a treat for going along with all this.

Amber beamed her mom a smile at all of the praise and attention she was getting. She nodded her mom yet again cautioned her about summoning beings aside from her mom. All of this she heard before but was a matter and safety and something she would take heed every time it was mentioned.

"Yes mom, I'll make sure to get you before I try doing anything like that myself."

After she had made her reply, Amber would smile at the prospect of food as she was feeling a bit peckish about now.

"Yeah! Okay! Sounds good mom! I am thinking maybe... pasta with alfredo and strips of human thigh." suggested Amber as she helps out with cleaning up. While removing the circular lines and half spent candles, now seemed like a good day to talk her day.

"Oh hey mom, me and Remiel are partnered up to work on a science project together. I'm... errmmm sure that you remember him right?"

Chloe paused in her cleaning.

"I know about Remiel." The angel boy whose mistrust of demons could have jeopardized the lives of many on the island, back during the Missing Ocean Incident. His rigid views on demons had also caused Dalia no end of frustration. Like Dalia, Chloe could connect the dots between his kind of worldview and the motivation to carry out hate crimes.

Chloe remembered the day that bucket of holy water got dumped on her. If it had been Amber, she might not be alive today.

She got off her knees and sat down on the floor, giving Amber her full attention. Cleanup could wait. "Tell me about this science project," she said. "What do you two have to do together?"

Amber could sense her mother's... apprehension the moment she stopped cleaning regarding the about the whole arrangement with her lab partner. She didn't blame her considering Remiel's reputation.

"Well... we are going to be setting up birdfeeders around a few places and use camera to check on which species are bird around the different areas. Oh and the feeders will have different sized seed types so that we can see what which seeds the birds seem to prefer. So... Remiel is going to be making the feeders while I get us a few cameras that we can use to watch the birds with. That way we don't have to stand around all day in the open watching birds."

Amber explained the general idea of the experiment that they were to run together. Sure it was a bit larger in scope than what may have been expected of them but this was something she and she thinks Remiel is passionate about.

"So that is current plan but we are going to go over things the next time we have class together. But so far I think things are going well between us."

The two would be setting up bird feeders together - unseen and unsupervised. Chloe didn't like that one bit.

Amber said they seemed to be getting along well enough - but what if she was just being too trusting? What if Remiel was planning something? Chloe had to protect her. She couldn't live with herself if something went wrong.

After the two had made a good amount of progress cleaning up, Chloe spoke up again. "... Amber. I have a gift for you. I was going to give you this for your birthday, but... I already have it made, and I'd feel a lot better if you had it now."

A dark portal opened above Chloe's outstretched hand, and an ornate, silvery necklace fell into it. It had a golden, modified version of Chloe's symbol on it. She held it out for Amber to see and take.

"Oh? A present?" Amber was excited but a bit perplex by her mom's sudden announcement, especially for a present intended for her birthday "Ummm... okay what is it?"

A portal soon opened and Amber watched with great intent. From the void an exquisite necklace fell onto her mother's palm. As her mother's hand extended, it glimmering splendor was laid before her.

"Oh... why... its beautiful mom." Amber took the necklace and dangled it in front of her eyes, drawn to the golden insignia so similar to her mother's.

"But... why give it to me now? What does it do?" inquired Amber

Chloe smiled a little, glad that Amber liked it. She'd put a lot of thought into the design - from an aesthetic perspective and a magical one.

"Well, I'm sure you can already tell it's magical." If Amber wasn't already learning how to sense these things, all the context clues had to have given it away.

"If you're wearing this, it'll be kind of like I'm there with you. So... if I'm traveling for work with the scouts, or if either of us ends up somewhere unusual, you'll still be able to use that to talk to me. And I could use it to watch your back, or even just portal in, if you ever needed me to do anything like that."

Chloe grasped for a way to put the why of this delicately. "You probably know that I worry about that Remiel kid sometimes. So... I don't feel great about you walking around alone with him out in the woods, with nobody to keep an eye on you."
