Another kid. This one was called Sumi, and was an actual kid, Zheng Qing noted. Well -- he'd do the same thing that he'd done with Shiro -- let the kid know that on Saturday at 5pm, Qing would be waiting for him to have a short chat.

As the appointed hour drew near, Qing prepared for Sumi's arrival in his wing of the dorms. He'd grown to have enough students under his care that the school had set aside a wing in the dorms for his kids to stay in a group. His common room was warmly lit, with a pantry in one corner and a small fountain in another. Qing waited for Sumi to show up on one of the chairs centered around a coffee table, a yellow scarf around the teacher's neck.

It had been a surprise for Sumi, to know someone was looking to care for children. And being one himself, still waiting for one day to find his mother, why not live in the care of Qing? Plus it meant a chance to meet other kids who he could befriend... After waking from a brief nap in where he visited his past self, the wolf boy made of ink left the shadows of a tree to meet with the teacher.

"Excuse me, Mr Qing?", he gave a couple light knocks on the doorway, before proceeding into the common room and stepping over to take seat close to him, "Hm, this dorm looks nice...", his tail wagged at the thought of appreciating the place. White clothes met with red in a way commonly seen in Shinto, his ears and tail revealed without any hesitation, a light gradient to black taking his white hair and tail.

But perhaps the most interesting part was what he carried wrapped in cloths, a single brush poking out with a barely visible scroll made it clear what was Sumi's hobby.

"It's 'Mr Jiang', Mr Sumi," said Qing, being utterly pedantic. If the boy was going to address him with a 'mister' in front of his private name, then Qing was going to do the same. "Door's open. Step right in, kiddo." And of course, Sumi stepped in right after Qing finished speaking. Qing looked him over with a quick, cursory glance.

The boy was garbed in whites and reds, with black permeating his hair and... tail? Well, Qing wasn't about to judge. He merely brought his mug to his lips and took a long, long-suffering sip. Clutched in his hand were a brush and scroll, wrapped delicately in cloth. Qing wondered if the boy enjoyed calligraphy, or if he was interested in Asian art forms; he certainly looked the part.

"Sit." He waved at a chair, which the boy took. "As you already know, my name is Mr Jiang -- or Zheng Qing, if you prefer. Just don't call me Qing, kay?" Now that the introductions were over, Qing took another sip of his tea, careful not to touch his scarf with the mug in his hand. Then he set it aside.

"Well, kiddo, tell me more about yourself."

"Alright, Mr Jiang!", he spoke in a cheerfully childish tone, "Now, about myself, hm...". Sumi put himself to wonder, he hadn't planned to talk much about himself, so how to proceed? Of course, focus on the now, his past was for him and his mother: "My full name is Sumi no Ookami, I was born 16 years ago from a forgotten ink in a shrine that was bought by a mangaka who then raised me as his little brother. Most of the time I studied like any human child and made even a few one-shot mangas of my own, most prized by big bro. Hobbies includes scribbling, painting and writing."

Qing listened, and blinked, and listened, and blinked, and listened, and blinked until the boy finished his spiel. He wondered if Sumi had learnt anything at all in the time he'd been on the island; it seemed as though his main focus was on creating art in general. He also wondered how far along the boy's mental faculties were. Born from forgotten ink in a shrine? Well, Qing supposed that there were odder ways to come into existence.

"And," he said, not at all fazed, "You got anything you need to let me know about? Part-time jobs, guardians, family members on the island..." He was recalling everything that Shiro had told him. From what he knew, Sumi didn't have family on the island, but maybe the boy was about to correct that notion? Qing didn't know. He was going to find out.

Qing drained the tea in his mug, stood, and walked over to the pantry. He pulled out a glass container that contained a number of rice "cakes" coated in crushed peanuts and sugar. Sumi might recognise them as something akin to freshly-pounded mochi, but Qing knew it was not. It was still made of the same glutinous rice, but was softer, and warmer. He called it muah chee. Placing a few onto a plate, he brought the plate over to where he and Sumi were seated, setting it down onto the coffee table between them.

"Have a piece," he offered, leaning back in his chair.

"Hm... Neither part-time jobs, unless you count mailing a single one-shot manga to be published by bro's publisher, nor any parental or guardian figure in this island in any way. If anything is of concern... That would be cold, because my body is still made of water-based ink, so I could still freeze and shatter.", he explained with a little fear in his eyes. It hasn't happened yet, Sumi has been aware of any numbness whenever the temperature dropped.

"Thanks, Mr Jiang!", he accepted the sweets once offered and chomped them with sheer joy, however he realized his mouth was busy now, and at the realization Sumi was quick to come up with a solution: a hand would be used to bring sweets to mouth, but the other he brought up... Was that blood on the index finger? Well... No, it was black at first, but quickly turned blue and he hastily wrote words on the air, letting the ink stay there, floating, before he absorbed it in his hand and wrote again, using that as his temporary means of communication: "Well, when I said "ink", I meant it."
"Are you familiar with minor deities and spirits that possesses abandoned tools? That is kind of what I am... Maybe I'll try becoming a God of Art?"

Qing's lips curled into a smile upon watching Sumi go at the rice cakes. He didn't react outwardly to the boy's words, but took careful note of them. While he couldn't do anything about Sumi's dorm's temperature, he'd do his best to make sure that the common room was always kept somewhat warm from now on, or at least when the kid was around.

He quirked a brow at the ink that dotted Sumi's finger, nodding along while reading the writing in the air. He shrugged by way of agreement. "Kid, you don't just "become" a god of art." Qing raised his mug to his lips again. "The godhood process takes time. But you'll get there some day if you're determined enough. Anyway, I'll take note of that. Now --"

Zheng Qing waved his hand, and the water bubbling in the fountain rose into a snaking rope, winding its way over to the pair. It gathered into a blob, hovering between Qing and Sumi. Qing made a tugging motion with his fingers, and the water began to form itself into different faces as he spoke. "-- The kids under my care are: Shiro, Kueria, Wen, and yourself. Know any of them?" As he said each name, the water's surface morphed into a head that resembled each kid.

"Takes time? Hm, I imagine. But, I got a good feeling I will be there someday.", he watched the water from the fountain float on its own toward them, and swallowed a big chunk of sweet without choking on it. For this moment, Sumi stopped eating to focus on what Qing had to explain.

"Hm... The only one I've seen is Shiro. Even then never made contact.", Sumi answered with his mouth this time, "Last I saw she looked like a "gothic", or what people call them."

"Mm," mm'ed Qing, listening to Sumi's description of the girl. He couldn't deny that Shiro had a rather... curious dressing style, but he wasn't about to judge. She was a vampire-bat-goth-cat, after all. It made sense that her clothes would reflect that. Besides, he knew there was more to Shiro than just her fashion sense, so he simply nodded to Sumi and left it at that.

"Well then," he said again, "Sometime on your own, if you're comfortable with that, I want you to meet more of 'em. It'll be good to know some faces around here, especially since you're gonna be living near to them anyway." The water flashed through the faces again, so that Sumi could remember. Then, it returned to the fountain and continued bubbling away.

"I will look forwards to being acquainted with them, Mr Jiang!", Sumi was once again excited, as hinted by his wagging tail, "Maybe they'll join me in painting, and I could teach them too. Ah!". the wolf boy's tail stopped moving, as he focused on Qing, wondering something... "Mr, what kind of art do you like the most? Could I do something for you?"
