Dani shrugged. "Curiosity, I guess. Sorry if my question offended you. She sat back down next to her guitar and placed it in her lap. She leaned her head on it and watched him closely. "So, how long have you been here, Darian?"

He widened his eyes; no, that conclusion wasn't what he wanted to reach. He shook his head desperately, then stopped, once he noticed he was making a fool of himself.

"I wasn't offended," he amended quickly, his breathes coming unevenly. Then he blinked unsurely as he felt the surrounding temperatures drop, a slight degree.

He hoped feverishly that she didn't notice anything. Darien wanted to continue to talk to someone without Darren's annoying comments, or just talk to someone period.

"Just a while ago," he answered, attempting to smile at her.

Dani smiled. "Ah. Don't be nervous. I remember that was how I was when I first came here and people asked me why I carry my guitar around. I turned as red as a beet and start stuttering. I don't like big groups pestering me like the press." Dani laughed, remembering it. "But don't be, I don't bite, nor do I insult."

He smiled, a bit more naturally. So she understood; that was good. "I don't have experience... um, with crowds."

After being stuck inside his brother's body with no contact to the outside world for twelves years, it's reasonable that he should be nervous. And have no idea how to continue a conversation.

He nodded, "Yeah. I know."

Dani grinned, happy with the result. "So where'd you live before you got here? I live in California, but thats a long way off." She shrugged. So long and far away that most people ask me where's California... I miss the beach.

He blinked his sapphire eyes. His mind blanked out for a second.

How do you answer where you came from? he wondered subconsciously. He had half-a-mind to wake up his younger brother and ask him, but he didn't want a third-wheel in this conversation.

"Actually, I don't know," he lowered his eyes, feeling slightly awkward, "I never... um... asked."
