Dani was in one of the towers early in the morning, strumming on her guitar with a coffee at her side. She had been up here about 30 minutes until she finally took out her guitar and strummed a few notes. She smiled, a song coming to mind, She couldn't help it. She felt alone and calm.
"Find it kinda funny, Find it kinda sad, the dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had... Find it hard to tell you, Find it hard to take; When People run in circles its a very very Mad World..."

"When People run in circles its a very very Mad World..."

A very mad world indeed.

The young Chance sighed quietly and was making his way up the towers when he heard a sound of a guitar echoing between the age old stones. He didn't think he'd bump into anyone else in this quiet morning; he thought maybe, he could go somewhere whilst his brother was asleep, and try to pratice something. It didn't happen that way.

His sapphire eyes peered through the tower doors: a girl was playing the string intrument, the resounding vibrations almost music to his ears. He stood silently near the door, almost too timid to walk towards her.

Maybe, Darien just wanted her to sing just a little longer. Without noticing that he was there.

Dani, unknowing of her little eavesdropper, kept on with her song. "Children waiting for the day the feel good; Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday. And I feel the way that every child should; Sit and Listen, Sit and Listen. Went to school and I was very nervous; No one knows me, No one knows me. Hello teacher tell me whats my lesson; Look right through me, Look right through me." She stopped.

He had swung the wooden door closed, and leaned on the back of it, his eyes closed, smiling calmly at the words. She was a good singer, he noted to himself to compliment her afterwards...

Look right through me, Look right through me."

He fluttered open his eyes, once he noticed that she had stopped singing. Did she notice him already? Or was she still unaware? His eyes darted to the doorknob; maybe he should just go outside, and listen to her singing and the music from outside the door...

Dani grinned and silently stood up and walked over to him. She leaned her face in so it was a few inches from his. "You know, it's really rude to eavesdrop. I don't bite." She whispered calmly, waiting to see how he reacted.

Is she angry? Is she angry?

No, she wasn't angry obviously, but the lack of personal space made him a little scared.

"Um, sorry...?" he attempted to apologize, smiling slightly, although the nervousness from being caught and having to speak with someone alarmed him. And without his twin, Darren, he had absolutely no idea what to say.

Well, wing the conversation, he told himself.

"You sang nicely," he commented, feeling a little awkward about having to converse with someone he hardly knew, unprovoked.

Dani smiled, satisfied with the answer. She leaned back. "Thank you. I'm Dani." she held out her hand for a handshake. She knew from experience this kid was nervous, and she hoped she wasn't scaring him further.

He blinked, relieved that she had pulld back, still slightly iin the air because of his lack of socialization skills.

"Darien," he nodded, and then he spotted her outstretched hand.

If Darren was there, he would just tell him to shake it in a gesture of friendliness, but he wasn't. Instead, Darien just stared strangely at it. "Um..."

Yes, if socialization was a course, he'd fail it.

Dani mentally slapped herself. Great, now he thinks either A)I'm stupid, B) He's stupid. she sighed inwardly. "So, Darien, how old are you? I'm 19, but I guess that doesn't really make a difference."

It was B) he's stupid, but he didn't have to know.

"Fourteen," he replied calmly, looking into her eyes. Then, he though about how awkward that would be since she was older than he was and added, as if it was an afterthought, "...Why?"
