"Well, not necessarily, just just some people can't handle caffeine all that well so they avoid it." He was slightly worried about her, being a naturally caring person he was. Maybe she was just extra hyper, due to the coffee, perhaps she'd burn it off if they did something active.

He'd wave his hand, turning the crystals into petals, dispelling them, smiling at her. "I'd love to play tag or race with you, it sounds like fun."

"Tag! Tag! Tag! Tag!" she chanted. Later, she might hope she hadn't drank so much coffee. Not only would she have a killer headache, but she would crash and she'd crash hard.

For now, though, Maddie was just excited to get to run and play. She had the instinct of an animal when it came to playing and chasing. She liked to wrestle things and run and catch. It just ignited something in her.

"I wanna be it first! I bet I can catch you like that!" she'd snap her fingers at the last two words. "C'mon!"

Maddie reached out to grab him by the wrist and tug him out of his seat. He was moving waaaay too slow.

He'd follow her, wherever she was going to take him. "Alright, but you gotta give me a 20 second head start, to make it fair. I need a bit of a chance to stay ahead of you. She was definitely too hyper, but there's nothing he could really do other than help her drain some of that energy. Besides, tag sounded like actual fun, Malvoes used to have to hold back his natural speed and stamina with normal people, she'd probably use her powers in some way so he would be able to take it up a notch.

"Does that mean I can shift?" Maddie asked, her words stringing together. She was talking so fast; she tripped over a few of them.

Maddie didn't lead Malvoes far, only to the field a little ways from the cafeteria. She led him just past the stables.

"I'll give you a TEN second head start!" Oh yeah, bargaining!

"Only if I can use mine." He'd say playfully, following her into this field.

"Ten seconds eh?" He'd run off towards the far part of the field, letting his momentum build up till he was running about 28, looking back a few times to see where she was.

Maddie counted to ten, not in the normal way, but in the way a child who says they'll count counts.

"12345678910!" she said it nearly all in the same breath. And then she was off, running as fast as her legs would carry her.

Despite her excitement, she couldn't get the concentration to change shape, she couldn't even focus on the feeling of it, so she forgot about it and played the old fashion way. She wasn't any quicker than a normal human like this, but that was fine, because she'd catch this sucker anyway.

Seeing as how she wasn't in a form other than human he'd only use his speed, making sure to only stay out of her reach, no reason to make it too easy for her. He could go a bit faster than average with only minimal effort, 35 was his top, well when he last tested it out last. "You're gonna have to try harder than that dearie!"

Maddie tittered as she reached a hand out, but the tips of her fingers only barely managed to touch his shirt.

"Dearie? Oh, you're gonna get it, mister!"

She was losing, dammit! Half because she tripped and half as a last ditch effort, Maddie threw herself at him. Either she was about to land painfully on her face, or she was going to collide into him and they were both gonna go rolling.

Blessing his improved dexterity, Malvoes would twist around as he realized she was going to leap at him, wrapping his arms around her and catching her, unfortunately he was unable to keep from falling. So he fell backwards with Maddie safely in front of him, landing onto him when he hit the ground. After his head stop spinning from the initial landing, he'd see if she was okay. "Hey you alright? Didn't get hurt did you?"

Maddie was completely still, not because she was passed out. No, she seemed utterly petrified. She looked at his face. It was close, like seriously close.

"I--I--I...I'm fine," she stuttered out. Her face grew hot, hot enough that it really showcased the red in her hair.

"Sorry! I didn't mean to — I tripped!" her voice grew higher the more she spoke.

Quickly, Maddie rolled to the side to get off of him as soon as humanly possible.
