Closed Starlight Academy Student Council

Andrasta doesn't have a lot of ways to loop your characters into her whole detention abolition deal unless y'all are about that. I'm also still not sure how that'd work, OOC. Maybe I'll report more on that later, but expect more on that.

BUT

The other two things on Riley's agenda we could probably do something about. Those being

1. Expanding the mentoring program
2. Creating regular events that attract new and current students alike, to help them start friendships.

For the mentoring program part of all this, I was thinking of drafting up some IC rules for how the mentoring program would work, then getting some kind of plotting thread together where we can coordinate that. I was thinking the mentoring program would be voluntary on the part of mentors, and either voluntary or at the suggestion of teachers on the part of the mentees. There would need to be a 3-4 year age difference between mentors and mentees, or else a 3-4 grade level difference. Only high school students and below would be eligible mentees. Andrasta would encourage her councilmates to participate. I'm open to suggestions on how this should work.

As for those regular events, I was thinking we could just set up an open thread (or threads) every month or 2, rotating through a set of ideas for new-student-attracting events. One of them is going to involve the student council putting on a dance party, and another one would involve a party at the lake (when it gets warmer out.) I'd like help coming up with other ideas. Each of these would be IC organized fully or in part by the student council.

Any thoughts / ideas to contribute? Or other ideas about what these dweebs could be doing?

I'm a little tired but those sound like good ideas. Wasn't someone suggesting a talent show or is that a thing that already happened?

i think a mini scavenger hunt thing might be a fun activity to include new students. Not quite sure if that would even work in a thread.

I also think the student council members should have a mini get together just them because how are they supposed to get new people meeting if they don't even get to know each other? They could go bowling or something. I don't know if anyone else would be interested in that.

Could the mentors/mentees work kinda like secret Santa? Except not random.

Same here. That's the idea that Bel was running on, so I definitely have a few ideas regarding the whole mentoring and activities to welcome new students.

I've spoken with most of you dweebs about this a little bit already, but I wanted to use the Official Starlight Academy Student Council Thread for some of this conversation (and also to make sure we're all on the same page lmao)

Next Friday (May 1st) there's going to be an open thread for a new school dance, which the student council has been putting together. That school dance is called the First Lilac Ball, to tie in with the Lilac Festival that happens next month. Most of what I've established about it is that there will be snacks, music, and dancing. OOC, this will be an open thread that I plan to post up sometime this weekend.

First of all, all of our characters on student council should definitely know this is a thing. Secondly, most of them are probably helping to make it happen in some way, until then. Do any of you nerds want to do threads that involve our nerdlets putting this together?
