Spring time.. The time of "happiness"

She observed him quietly, eyes taking in every infantesimal detail of his face. She took in a very quiet, small gasp when it clicked in the back of her mind that he was handsome. The gasp was probably even more so from the fact that she allowed herself to notice.

And then surprised flitted across her features, and she involuntarily raised a hand to her mouth. She recognized him. And it wasn't a week long recognition. It was a centuries long recognition. He had rescued her. And from a worse fate than he knew.

With the sudden realization that her strange reaction might bring the memory to the surface of his mind, she brought one of the many dormant chemicals her body had reproduced to the surface of her skin and rapidly multiplied it, creating an immediate 'cut' on her arm.

She touched her hand to her arm and looked at it blankly. "I wonder how I managed to cut myself." she murmured seriously, praying that he would not know she was lying.

He had been aware she was observing him, it made him a little uncomfortable. Scrutiny was not exactly pleasant. He mentally laughed nervously. What was she thinking about? Was he so ugly that she couldn't help but stare? The small gasp returned his gaze to her and he frowned at her surprised, than blank expression.

''Are you alright milady?'' He asked, unsure of what happened.

The words out of her lips explained what had happened and a concerned expression covered his handsome face. He looked at where she was holding her arm and he frowned again.

''May I see to it milady?'' He asked extending a hand towards her.

He looked the same he had that day, extending a helping hand to her, only this time, he was not wearing a shining armor. With his other hand, he had taken a large hankerchief from one of his pocket, the only thing that could be used as a bandage at that moment.

She looked at his hand tentatively, nibbling on her lower lip subconciously. The expression on her face was the same reaction she had had the first time he had extended his hand to her. The visual fight between whether to accept his help or to flee. She had fled the first time. She had pushed his hand away and fled, not bothering to allow her mind to contemplate whether he was friend or foe.

This time it was different. She dipped her head in consent, and placed her hand in his, trying to ignore the warmth that shot up her arm when their hands connected. She told herself that she had probably just stolen his powers for a few moments, but she knew that that wasn't the truth. "If you would." she said softly, trying to shove the memory back away, and pretend that she had only met him a few days ago.

The fleeting look of contemplation was lost to him as he hadn't had a good enough glance at her that first time to recognise her easily since it had been so long ago. He tenderly took her hand in his, seeking the cut she had made for herself, although she didn't know she had made it to herself to avoid looking as though she knew him.

''That is quite the nasty cut. I wonder what happened.'' He said.

Taking her arm delicately, more delicate than what would be expected from an ex-knight, and he peered at the cut. He could not fanthom how she had cut herself, but decided not to ask. He took the hankerchief and wrapped the slightly bleeding cut. He had done similar moves a lot in the past, and not allways on others.

''There.'' He said tying a knot to keep the makeshift bandage in place. ''This should do it until you can see to it properly.''

He was relieved to find it hadn't bled through the hankie yet. He kept her hand in his and just smiled at her.

''Be careful not to rub it though, it will only make it bleed more.'' He said.

The side effects of a chemically produced wound were painful, and when she felt a tear course down her cheek she sniffed, and wiped it gently with her free hand. The throbbing pain in her arm made her inwardly wince, but when it was gone, she was aware that he was still holding her hand.

She pulled her hand out of his grasp quicker than she had meant, and took in a sharp breath as her arm throbbed at her again. "Stupid cut." she mumbled, before returning her gaze to his face.

Her eyes softened slightly, unconciously. "Thank-you. I'm much obliged." she told herself that the tingling in the hand that he had touched was simply a combination of lack of blood and a power steal, but she had a feeling that it was not.

Suddenly something clicked in the back of her mind, and she leaned forward slightly, peering at his face. A small, almost childish smile spread onto her face, and she gently stroked his cheek. "You're furry." she stated curiously, before taking her hand back, startled at the boldness of her own actions.

James tried to reassure her that it was a simple wound, sure he didn't know that she had done it herself. That he clearly didn't need to. A gentle smile covered his face, the other immortal acted kind of cute all of a sudden.

''It was my pleasure.'' He replied smiling.

Indeed, in a way. He had allways had a a saving people thing. He had too much compassion for those in distress. Especially if the person happened to be a beautiful woman. When the gentle hand touched his cheek, he couldn't help the small purr like sound that escaped his lips. It was nearly inaudible... but if someone was to hear it, he'd deny firmly ever having produced such a sound. His fur was rather sensitive. He chuckled softly.

''So it seems I am.'' He replied laughing.

His laugh was not mocking, it was just he found the situation funny.

She flushed, rubbing the back of her hand shyly. When he laughed, she glanced up at him, startled slightly by his response, before a true smile widened her mouth and lit her eyes. "I'm sorry. I sometimes don't have very good control of my actions." she apologized out of habit, though she knew she didn't need to.

Without knowing, she had relaxed her body position so that she was open to him. In a split second, she made a decision, and the words were out of her mouth before she could double think. "I met you once before. When you were a knight." she said quietly, a distant look on her face.

He let a small smile bloom on his face, a reassuring and gentle smile.

''I do not fault you for acting as your nature dictates. I myself am somewhat impulsive by moments.'' He said. ''Its perfectly understandable.''

He observed her for a moment and saw that she was more relaxed. Good, at least now she didn't seemed to distrust him. Well, at least now if she thought he wasn't trust worthy she hid it well. He froened a bit at what she said next. When he was a knight... That was a while back. He looked upon her face and wondered when he could have encountered her before. His memory was lacking a bit. He searched a bit and found what he was looking for.

''The hostages in the Brenheim castle.'' He said. ''That time you fled before we could explain and bring you out.''

She nodded. "I knew you were there to rescue me, but I couldn't trust anybody." she smiled softly. "My immortality is a result of an alchemist's experiment. I was held at Brenheim because he thought I could give immortality to him. I didn't know what would happen to me if he told anybody so I had to run."

She shook her head and chuckled. "I've always wondered if my life would have been so different if I hadn't been turned immortal." her eyes clouded over for a moment as she pondered what would have happened if she'd fallen in love, had a family and lived a normal, fear-free life. Then she shook it out of her head and averted her eyes out to the lake. To think about what could have been was a waste of time and energy.
