Spiders Big and Small

Drex had absolutely nothing that he really did for his time. So most of it he had been spending watching over Matriarch Pandora's family. Today he wanted to make sure mistress Amber was going to be okay so he followed her in back alleys and side streets. He would get ahead of her by a small margin and waiting for her to walk by. He only had his spiked chain now was his only weapon. But he hadn't needed to use it yet while guarding Matriarch Pandora's family but it was currently coiled around his waist while he waited in this dark alley.

It was a slightly overcast day today, the sun still shone trough the clouds easily enough. And while Drex stood in this alley he cursed the light. He prefered the caverns of his home or the night air. This Sun was a curse on his eyes sometimes. As he blinked away some of the glare from his eyes he saw the little mistress pass by before she stopped and turn to look at him.

Once she asked if it was himself he stepped forward a little so it would be easier for her to see him, he had to shade his eyes though. "It is I Mistress Amber, I took it upon myself to escort you. If you wish I shall depart." He bowed himself as he brought his legs together making himself smaller than he actually was in acknowledgement that compared to Amber he was nothing.

"As you say mis... Amber. I have only been in this alley for less than a minute. As for escorting you I have been making sure that you have been safe for some time now. Though I have had needed to split my time up between your family. So I am sorry if I haven't been able to guard you effectively." Drex bowed a little deeper as if he was expecting to be punished.

When Amber said that the bus stop wasn't far and that he could walk with her the rest of the way he bowed his head. "As you wish La... Amber." Drex unfolded himself and stood up and stepped forward to follow Amber, his armor still missing his helm. But he could still protect the matriarch's family when needed.

"What would you wish to talk to me about Amber?" Drex made sure to be behind Amber to follow her, like the first time he had met them. Though he doubted that there was much more he could explain about his homeland to her that she now didn't know "I am at your disposal."

"Unfortunately when The Matriarch's other daughters left the home my duty did not expand to them. I took it upon myself to guard Matriarch Pandora and her household. If there were more males than we would have split up the guard to carry on our duties. But I am the only one here for now. And the Goddess has not graced another with this form." He put his hand across his chest in a salute from his home land.

"I do not feel the need to guard the home personally, I patrol the grounds around the building and try to keep those that look like a threat from getting to close. I fear I may not be up to the task and that I may fail without the support of my brothers in arms." Drex looked a bit more haggard and was a bit crestfallen at having to admit this.

When Amber changed the topic to family Drex's eye grew distant. "I am my father's son. The matriarch that gave birth to me I do not know their name. My name is passed down from father to son for as long as our line has existed. To my knowlege my father has no other sons." Drex shrugged as they continued to walk.

"From father to son the way to fight is passed down from a young age of males. He was more my trainer than what other race would call fathers. Males are dispoable, we are ment to keep the Home Cavern safe and when needed when a Matriarch wishes for daughters." Drex said this in a very clinical sort of voice. To him this was just how things were.

"When I was graced with this form by the Goddess I became a chosen male. In time I would have been picked by a Matriarch and would have been gifted with..." Drex blinked a few times and looked down at Amber. She was probably to young for this sort of discussion but if she pressed him he'd have to answer her as part of the Matriarch's household.

Drex simply nodded his head, letting Amber take that as she wanted. The little matriarch was probably much to young to know about the gifts given to males. He continued to walk, not really expanding on the right to 'arms' as Amber would put it. But it seemed that Amber herself decided to ask about something else, unfortunately for Drex he did not know enough of this topic to explain much of it. "I fear I am not educated in any of these Amber. Matters Arcane have the potential to let Males of Matriarchal families with the spark to join in the Family's school. I am niether a part of a Matriarchal Family or have the spark."

If he had been around for a little longer he would have been married into the line, his body proof of that. But again he didn't think this would be a topic of discussion for one so young as Amber. Though, he mentally sighed, if she is going to press the issue he didn't really have much choice but to answer her questions. He walked a few more steps before he looked down at Amber. "My lady, am I allowed to ask a question of you?"
