Sylvi

Sylvi readjusted her armor for what seemed to be dozenth time. It was a bit more ornate than her regular armor, even going as far as to include a gold and red cape, but this was her first fight in the arena. She wanted to look good when she won.

"Thank you for coming Hakon." She said, stretching. "Though, remind me again, why do I need your shield?" She asked, glancing over at where she had placed both her spear, and Hakons shield. Though she couldn't understand why he insisted she use it. She was more than capable of winning without his help.

"Yeah, no problem," he'd say with a smile, "told you I'd be in your corner." He wanted to support his friend, cheer for her. "You're gonna do great Sylvi."

He'd glance at his shield. "Just....y'know, extra protection," he'd say, "it's a good shield, could be useful." He knew Sylvi was good, but an extra tool was always a good things.

"I got a decent seat," he'd smile, "so I'll be able to watch everything."

Sylvi

Sylvi raised an eyebrow when Hakon called the shield extra protection. She was a Valkyrie. Even without Hakon's shield she would be fine. It really felt like he was worrying over her too much.

"Hakon, look at me. I will not only be fine, I am going to win. With or without the shield." She said confidently. "But, if it will ease your concerns, I will agree to take it into the arena." She said with a sigh.

She'd blink when Hakon said he had decent seats. "I could see if I could get your seats upgraded. It would not be difficult." She said, not liking the idea of Hakon's seats being just decent. She wanted him to have a good view of the match, and she doubted decent would cut it.

He'd snort. "Better to have and not need it, than to need it and not have it," he'd tell her. "Thought a warrior should always be prepared?" he'd ask, tilting his head as he spoke.

"If you want, if it becomes an issue I can shift into a raven and fly around for a better view." He'd snicker. "Hopefully they're don't get angry over it," the idea of ot kinda amused him though.

"Want me to uh, tie your hair back?" he'd offer her, not wanting her opponent to pull at it or anything like that.

Sylvi

Hakon had a point. Not that she would admit that to his face."But, using a unfamiliar weapon can easily be more of a hinderance than a boon. I would not expect you to have anywhere near my talent with a spear. Just as I would not expect to have your talent with a sword."

She joined him in the laugh, before pulling out a hairband that she had gotten during the secret santa gift exchange. "If you would be willing to." She said, handing it to Hakon, and turning her back to him to allow him better access to her hair.

"While you are doing that, would you like to know about my opponent?"

"You mean during the two minutes it'll take to tie back your hair," he'd ask with a snicker as he did just. "Sure, I think I overheard someone saying he had multiple arms?" which was one of the main reasons he'd offer to let her use his shield, he had a feeling she'd need it.

"He'd take a step back. "Y'know....you have nice hair," he'd say with a chuckle, giving her hair a poke. "Anyways, you got this Sylvi," he'd smile, "just....don't get to cocky, stay aware of everything, especially with that guy swinging so many weapons at you."

Sylvi

Sylvi rolled her eyes when Hakon tied her hair back. "I know it looks good, but thank you." She said, glancing at Hakon and rolling her eyes.. "I will never understand how you deal with that mop on your head." She'd flinch when he poked her hair.

She'd hum in thought when asked about her opponent. "Yes. Supposedly his name is Bob. He has 8 arms, 7 which hold a weapon. Each one different from the last." It was going to be a challenge for sure, but one Sylvi believed she could handle.

Once Hakon was done with her hair, she'd adjust everything one last time, before doing a flourish with her spear. "Right, how do I look?"

"Mop?" he'd snort "I like my hair." He'd run his fingers through it, "and I think you do too." He'd flash a smirk at her. "You tend to gently insult things you like."

"Sooooo...a video game boss?" he'd ass with a snicker. "Though with all those extra weapons, I'm happy you agreed to use my shield." He had a feeling that she was going to need to despite her confirmation.

He'd look her over. "You look good," he'd smile. "The armor looks good on you," he'd tap his knuckles on the armor. "You're gonna do amazing Sylvi."

Sylvi

Sylvi just rolled her eyes and frowned when Hakon accused her of liking his hair. "Hmpf. Even if I did, that does not mean it is not a mess." She said, ruffling his hair even more.

She squinted when he called her opponent a video game boss. She wasn't quite sure what that was, but she had a rough idea from seeing a few advertisements around the islands. "I see, you will have to tell me about them after the match." She said, before smirking when Hakon told her she looked good, the vote of confidence was welcome as well. "Thank you. You should get to your seat though, I believe I am next."

As if on cue, she was called to the arena for the beginning of the match. She'd toss Hakon's shield on to her back as she did. She didn't think she would need it, but if she didn't Hakon wouldn't have let her hear the end of it. Hopefully it was a short match.

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

It was not a short match.

Sylvi panted from exhaustion. She had been unable to get in close for much of the match due to the number of weapons and different angles that Bob could attack at. Her strategy going in had been one of overwhelming offense, needless to say it hadn't worked. For every bit of damage Sylvi dealt, it was returned 6 fold. It didn't help that she tried to go for flashy attacks rather then going The battle had quickly become a war of attrition. One that Sylvi would lose.

As loath as she was to do it, she was basically forced into using Hakon's shield to even the odds, and after a few attacks, she finally got the opening she was looking for, and got a hard earned victory.

Once the match was over, she'd do a victory lap, revealing in her first win, before leaving the Arena proper. Once she got the heaviest parts of her armor off, she set about trying to find Hakon, eventually spotting him. "Hakon! Did you see?! I won!" She beamed at him.

He'd watch the fight, and he wasn't surprised that Sylvi was having a more difficult time that she anticipated. He saw that she needed the shield and was happy he'd loaned it to her, but hoped the fight humbled her. That said he noticed something, he felt an urge, a mental itch, to fight too.

After she'd won he'd make his way towards her prep room, but she found him first. "You did awesome," he'd say with a grin as he stepped to her. "Yeah, I saw everything," you were amazing."

He'd smile, "and it looked like my shield came in handy," he'd say with a chuckle. "But you did really great Sylvi."
