The main deck of the Starlight Observation Station was packed with people from all corners
of the galaxy. There was a buzz in the air as people were charged, some already planning
out their routes to where a favorite concert would be playing, an interesting discussion panel
might be going on, or just where the craziest and tastiest food from across the stars was being
cooked up as we speak.
One thing was certain though. This convention was threatening to outshine the previous one by
far. The decorations were grander, security was tighter, and this year even had a cute little mascot
for the convention: a little three eyed green alien with tentacle arms named X'ee-p (or Xeep for you
Earthlings).
Signs dotted the main deck, directing people in a plethora of languages wherever they might want
to go, and making for good markers to meet up with friends. A grid of lasers far above anyone's head
began streaming and turning, passing through a light mist from the ceiling to display a message in
bright neon colors.

Alana looked up into the mist. Lasers were turning, spelling out the words 'Welcome to SpaceCon'. She'd never attended anything like this before and felt overwhelmed with the amount of options she had to choose from. There was food to try, music to listen to and discussions to watch. She wandered over to a sign, wondering where to go first.

Before she could make a decision, Alana was distracted by SpaceCon's mascot. Her eyebrows quirked up and a slight smile twinged on her lips. The last time she'd felt happy, she was still at home.

"Well, that's kind of cute, in a really weird way..."
