Backstage drama? Jude raised an eyebrow, and then ended up grinning at her.

"So," he said. "Going to join mystique and hang out with Vega?" There were definitely implications in the way he said it. Because Vega was nice, and he seemed like Rory's type, and goddamnit he couldn't be the only one who was dating someone.

But then I realized that if you just assume it'll be no, it will be no, so I decided... Well, I looked up a bunch of stuff and the one recommendation everyone made was just ask anyway. Worst case is you're no longer nervous about rejection. Which is what I thought was going to happen. So just ask him."

Jude squinted. No two ways about it, and he could guess why.

He had a lot of suspicions about why it wasn't the right time, but all of them felt... very serious. He was trying desperately to keep things light.
