Xylina was pretty sure when she was told she had to leave her room, here brother was not talking about performing on stage. Which was why she was pacing back and forth waiting for her thirty minutes in the spotlight. A spotlight which was much brighter than she though it was much brighter than she imagined it would be. She didn't even peak around the curtain to see if she could see any of her family members. She hadn't told him she would be preforming at the music festival, she just put the flyer on the fridge. She was hoping that counted as opening up and being honest with her family...isn't that what the shrink lady had said she needed to do. She liked to think that it counted, even if she knew that it probably didn't.

Logically speaking she knew that her family had their own issues to worry about and therefore didn't need to see her possibly fail at something that had always been a hobby of hers. She had already talked to the sound guy and a very serious woman with a clipboard had came up to her and said “You're next”. All and all it had sounded like she was getting executed for something and it didn't help the weird hollowness in her stomach. If anything it made it worse because, the spring festival was supposed to be cheery right? All her songs sounded full of angst...perhaps she should just do a cover of something? She grabbed a bottle of water and downed in before tossing it expertly in the trash can. She could do this right? If she could survive murderous kidnappers, festival goers were surely on the bottom of the list of things that could kill her right?

The band that was before her was on her last song, she could tell mostly because the sound guy had handed her, her guitar and ushered her near the curtain. He wished her good luck but she could barely hear him over the sound of her heart beating in her ears. Was it too late for her to back out? After all she was only fifteen she had time to get over her fears. Then again how long would it follow her around that she choked when given the chance to pursue something she loved. Of course it was only one festival but she had learned that the island always had some type of musical festival, perhaps it could be an on going thing. Not to mention her search for band members because she didn't want to perform alone.

Maybe she should've told her brothers about her performing, Abel might not have gone but at least Raul would've showed up. She was pretty sure Alex would've made a comment about her making more noise even though she had been quite lately. The band had finished their last song and now Lina was up. She was good at faking confidence right? She could do this? At least that was the lie she told herself as she stepped into the spotlight. She looked out the crowd as she somewhat confidentially took her place in front of the microphone. “Hello, My Name is Lina and this first song is called Yesterday” She took a step back as the music stared and fingers started to strum the familiar melody. She had practiced to much that it was second nature to her, the words at the tip of her tongue as she stepped back up the mic.

Her voice was soft and strong, the song was much different from the angry songs she usually wrote. She wanted the first time she preformed...not be angry. As she continued to sing her fear slowly melted away, she was to lost in the music to really care about being scared or messing up. She believed that she was really good and in that moment that was all that mattered to her.
