Michael hadn't always been a sneaking person, only after becoming a ghost did start. Today he was sneaking home from a party, it had been a rather large one, lots of booze and madness. They'd become rather common for him, he'd been going a little mad with his newfound freedom.

So, he slipped into the dorms unnoticed, thanks to his invisibility, which was proving to be an incredibly useful powers. He became visible again as he turned to corner toward his dorm, then noticed someone, Kaitlyn, a girl who'd become a good friend of his.

Michael cleared his throat, he smelt of alcohol so it'd be impossible to hide what he'd been doing. "H-hi Kaity." @Sissel

Kaitlyn was also on the way to her dorm. Only, her reason had been much more innocent. She'd just finished a short walk, and was on the way back to her dorm when she bumped into Michael.

"Hi, Michael.", she'd said, before noticing something interesting. She smelled a scent she was familiar with from smelling it on people on the streets in her neighborhood, and hoped not to smell again. It brought back nostalgia, but not good nostalgia. It reminded her of home, but not the particularly good parts of it.

Alcohol.

Concerned thoughts clouded Kaitlyn's mind a bit, along with some memories, before asking, with a sliver of suspicion in her voice, "So, uh, where've you been?" With a bit of an odd look on her face, she awaited a response.

"Uh...no where really," he coughed nervously and cleared his throat, "j-just got back from a walk." He looked about a bit, and then from her to his room, he could tell she was suspicious, she somehow knew something was up.

"So...uh..," he blinked, uncertain what to say next, "h-have a good day?" He was trying to distract her, change the subject to something else. "I..uh..yeah..boring day for me, very quiet," another lie, to cover the truth up.

Michael was bad at lying, he'd never really had a need to lie before. He had a feeling she'd very much disprove of how he spent his free time, the booze and sex.

Multiple red flags were raised for Kaitlyn. First of all, he smelled like alcohol. Second, he had absolutely no excuse for where he was, and thirdly, he seemed extremely nervous. It was all suspicious to Kaitlyn, who was still wondering where Michael had been.

"My day was fine, thanks", Kaitlyn said, honestly, but had an intonation of saying something that'd escalate the situation.

"Well, I'll ask again: where have you been?", Kaitlyn said with a passive-aggressiveness that surprised even her. She felt a bit bad, but then again, Michael was lying to her, and had been doing something apparently bad.

"And please don't lie; I know that scent", she added slightly more politely.

Michael blinked in surprise at her, he hadn't expected that from her. In truth it wasn't a bad thing, it showed that she had strength, it was just surprising and a little unexpected for Michael. The young ghost opened his mouth to say something but quickly closed it.

He sighed a little, "I just got back from a party," he finally admitted, he was a little worried about how she'll react to it. Walking to his door he opened it, "if we're going to talk, let's do it in my dorm," he said ushering her in.

His room was currently a bit of a mess, he in general was a bit of a mess. Michael had fallen head first into his newfound freedom and had gotten caught up in it all.

Several things ran through Kaitlyn at once. He was honest, to start. Of course, she was a but mad at him for going to a party and maybe drinking. Without saying anything, she went into Michael's room.

There seemed to be a correlation; both him going to parties and his room being a mess. She wondered a bit about what else was going on, but decided to focus on the party.

Kaitlyn had calmed down slightly, but was still using more of a stern or mad tone. She took a seat and was ready to say something, before thinking a bit. She had a bit of a hard time thinking of what to say, before settling on, "Why would you go to a party with alcohol?". In truth, it was a rhetorical question, but one of the more important points was displaying her disapproval, which had come across.

Kaitlyn's eyes wandered to the mess around her, still wondering why Michael seemed to be falling apart. She wanted to help, but had to get past this first.

Taking a breath, he closed the door and looked at her, not sure what to say, how to explain whats going on, even if he could. He opened his moth and then closed it, a dozen possible ways of conveying his problems shooting through his head, yet none sticking.

Finally, he took a seat with a sigh, "I don't know how it started...no...I do." He looked back up at her, "before I came here, I had no real freedom, all I was allowed to do was, go to school, then come home to my tutors, meet my parents expectations, and be punished when I didnt."

"So, when I came to the island, it was new life," an ironic choice in words, considering his undead status, "I could make my own choices, do what I want. So I started trying new things, I went to a party and the...just couldn't stop."

He leaned back a bit, "a part of me is afraid of stopping now, I don't really know why."

Whatever emotions Kaitlyn had before melded into empathy. Michael had been confined for who-knows-long; forced to do all of that. She listened to what he said, then didn't know what to say herself. The only thing she could think to say was a slightly quiet yet sincere "I'm sorry.."

Kaitlyn felt like she should say something else, so paused a moment before continuing, "You shouldn't have had to live like that. I'm glad you came here".

She looked at Michael, then around his room. He seemed like he was losing his grip on everything.

"I'll help any way I can", she finished.

"Thank you," rising from his seat, he walked over to her, "I've done things I didn't really want to do, it was all a distraction I guess." He rubbed the back of his head, remembering the one night stands he'd had, it'd all been a distraction really, something to keep his mind off of things.

Before he knew it, he had his arms wrapped around her in a hug, he'd needed it supposed. Especially from her, from day one here she'd been his best friend, so she meant a lot to him, maybe more than he realized.

"I'm going to try doing better," he said in a half whisper, "I know I'm a mess, I'm sorry." Pulling back a little, he looked down at her, she legitimately cared about him, unlike his parents, or the girls he had one night stands with.

Michael seemed like he’d been tryin his hardest to adjust. Kaitlyn was sure he’d done plenty more than just parties. She’d hugged him back when he did, and listened to what he said.

”It’s okay. You’re trying your best”, Kaitlyn said in a sympathetic and sincere voice.

She hoped Michael would get everything together soon. For multiple reasons, some of which she wasn’t even sure what they were.
