Jii had some pretty intensely mixed feelings about the situation as it stood now. She'd planned to simply eject herself from the community center and get some breathing room away from Chloe and hopefully not continue to be horribly obvious with her flustered behavior. Really, she wasn't sure why she asked if anybody wanted to come with her, and of course it had to be the girl she had found herself crushing on, but at the same time, she was excited to spend some time with her one on one. Wait, one on one? God, that was in an entirely different league of intimidating and embarrassing. She smiled sheepishly up at Chloe as the two arrived at the smoothie shop, scratching one ear with a tiny black claw.

"Umm, so, yeah. I like to come here after workouts sometimes. Have you ever been? I'm a big fan of the peanut butter and banana one." She went up to the counter and waved at the cashier there, apparently on a first name basis as she placed her order and then found a booth to wait for Chloe to join her. "It's all good; she isn't going to be able to tell. Just stay calm and collected, it's alllll good..."

It was absolutely obvious that Jii was attracted to her. Blindingly so. Chloe just saw that as another reason to join her. Maybe it would make Jii happy. Plus, a smoothie sounded like it could really hit the spot about now. She smiled back down at Jii, comfortable, confident.

Had she been here before? "I haven't, actually! But I've kinda been meaning to. I guess it's just been a little too out of my way." She ordered a berry smoothie for herself, and she joined Jii at the booth. Booths didn't usually have space for her tail, but since she didn't have to sit next to anyone else, she could afford to slide in sideways and take up the whole seat.

Chloe probably looked a little silly doing that. She smiled, and took a sip of her smoothie.

A part of her was thinking about Cheeto, her first girlfriend, and getting a little nostalgic. Cheeto was about the same height as Jii, with the same sort of build. And Jii was kind of cute, too, she had to admit.

"By the way, I've been curious. Is that your natural nail color? Or do you use polish?" Chloe set one of her hands on the table, showing her black nail polish. Her last manicure was well before she left the planet almost two weeks ago, but the polish still looked good. And, it was worth noting, her nails were still quite short.

Jii brushed a bit of hair behind her ear and sipped at her smoothie, smiling as Chloe came to sit down and suppressing a giggle at the way she sat down, holding one hand over her mouth. "Ahh, sorry! I hadn't thought about your tail. We can move if you're not comfortable." Comfortable...Jii could certainly feel how at ease Chloe's mind was, and it reflected on her as well at a moderate strength considering that the place was nearly empty. Still, her anxiety was front and center, only snapping herself back to attention at Chloe's question.

"H-huh, what?" She blinked, a bit bewildered, then looked from Chloe's nails and then at her own claws, relaxing somewhat. "Ohh, my claws? Yeah, they're naturally black. Um, some of my people have white claws, or a combination of both. I actually have one white one on my left foot." She smiled sheepishly, cursing how verbose her description was, and then looked back to Chloe's nails. "Yours look very nice, by the way...I should file mine, probably."

To Jii's apologies, Chloe just made a silent, dismissive gesture. It wasn't a big deal.

"Thanks," Chloe smiled a little. Jii was such a nervous wreck right now. It was cute. She peeked under the table to spot that single white claw Jii mentioned. And there it was.

"I think your claws look fine. But be careful not to hurt yourself over-filing them." She thought for a second. "You know, I haven't met a lot of other people who run around barefoot as much as me. Have you ever tried going in for a pedicure? I know a place here that does a really good job with feet like ours. We probably need to take extra good care of them, cause of how much punishment we put them through."

Maybe this would calm her down. Ordinary small talk.

Jii steadily managed to settle herself down, at least marginally, with some slow and relaxed breaths, eased by Chloe's generally calm demeanor as well as the distraction she was providing in the pedicure talk. "Huh? O-oh, um, no, I haven't done anything fancy like that yet...pretty much just do maintenance myself. Herbal baths and scrubs, gentle filing. What would be nice is a foot massage; we used to do those for each other at home, but Ria is pretty busy now, so I haven't had one in months..."

She blinked as she trailed off, realizing that was maybe an odd thing to mention, and once again fidgeting with her hair as she so often did, though a bit less anxiously now. "Y-yeah though, um, anyway. You look like you take really good care of your feet too, so..." Wait, what kind of compliment even was that? Essentially, she was in a vicious cycle of finding her own comments awkward, then calming down, rinsing and repeating. She sipped her smoothie, tapping one foot rapidly against her opposite leg and humming quietly to attempt to distract herself from how utterly terrible she was at this.

Jii's foot care routine sounded kind of fancy to Chloe. Herbal baths and scrubs?

And she was still really, painfully nervous. Chloe still thought it was cute, but it was starting to worry her. "Well, thanks! Not a lot of people notice how much effort I put into my feet. Though I guess they're kinda weird feet already, so people don't have a lot to compare them to."

She sipped her smoothie again.

"...Is something bothering you?"

Was something bothering her...? Jii rapped three claws rhythmically on the table and gave an almost too enthusiastic shake of her head and smile in response to Chloe's question, doing her utmost to look calm and collected, and of course in the process overthinking it and freaking out more. "Huh, yeah I'm fine! totally, um..." Eventually, she let out a shaky sigh and nodded, looking down at the table and tapping her foot and hand faster.

"It, um...it's really kind of silly, I shouldn't bother you with it, you know? I don't want to seem all weird, or...I dunno.." She rubbed the back of her neck and frowned, sipping at her smoothie again with a distinct lack of energy and much more worry showing openly on her face now.

"I don't mind weird," Chloe said. "I do that demon support group thing, so. There's not alot you can tell me that I'd get upset about. So feel free to get it off your chest."

Chloe was sure whatever Jii had to say, it wouldn't fluster her. Assuming Jii even eanted to talk about it. It must have been something pretty bad with how Jii was acting. She was steadily getting more worried.

Jii took a long, slow breath at Chloe's reassurance that she was willing to listen; she was an utter mess internally and really very unsure how to approach this. In the end, as scary as it was, she decided that being direct was her best overall bet. To that end, she shakily produced her phone, navigating to the dating app there and pushing it over to Chloe for her to read. "It, um...I set that profile up a few weeks ago now, and...well. . .I haven't gotten any messages yet. I don't really know what I'm doing wrong, or right, and it's been really getting to me a lot lately." She looked down, fidgeting with her hair again and pausing. "I guess, um...I just figured that someone as pretty as you might know more about all this than me.."

Chloe seemed confused, at first.

"Uh, well... Huh." She furrowed her eyebrows. "I only have advice for trying to filter out creepy guys. Or, at least the guys who are creepy in a bad way." Some of the guys who messaged her were creepy in a good way, and those were some of the only guys from there she tolerated messages from.

She furrowed her eyebrows for a second, deeply confused.

"How are you not rolling in gross comments from guys? You're really cute." She wasn't really trying to be flirty. Jii's cuteness was a matter of fact, and it baffled Chloe that she wasn't getting tons of messages.
