Smoothie The Path For This Useless Lesbian

Ohhh jeeze. Even though she knew that Chloe wasn't trying to be flirtatious, being called cute at a time like this certainly threw Jii for a bit of a loop. She found her genuinely very attractive, and was fairly sure she knew that as well; of course nothing is allowed to be easy, though. She took back her phone for a moment and scrolled to her profile settings page, ears flattening a tiny bit. She could also see her inbox in the same area, which true to her word, was totally barren.

"Why don't I have messages from guys? Um, well, I mean...that's probably because I have it set so that I only accept messages from other girls. I don't want to send out mixed signals, so...yeah. I only like girls, so it seemed to make sense." She let Chloe look at the page for however long she wanted before taking the phone back, tapping a more than a little bit anxiously on the back of the case as she waited for her reaction.

Jii cringed a bit at her rather obvious answer; honestly it was one she had realized herself but hadn't worked up the courage to accept that it was a necessary step. ". . .I, um...no, I haven't. I saw a lot of girls that I liked, and wanted to talk to, but I just couldn't get up the courage. I was sure that they would say no, so I just...didn't. I have a tendency of self defeating behavior, though I'm trying to get better." Jii sighed gently after admitting all this, feeling a bit foolish for having complained about everything in the situation.

She sipped once more from her smoothe straw, slow and meandering, her general expression a bit distant and thoughtful. "I guess, maybe...well, maybe I didn't message anybody because subconsciously I didn't want to? It's a stretch, but...the whole reason I went on there in the first place was I was too scared to talk to people I liked in person, and tell them my feelings. Maybe I just...need to try doing that.." She had a light but noticeable blush tinting her cheeks, her single white toe claw tapping underneath the table.

Jii pulled her feet up onto the booth seat and slid over to allow Chloe some room in the booth, taking her smoothie with her and very nearly knocking it over as she was only half looking at it. "O-oh! Um, well, I mean...if you really, want to...?" Taking a few shaky, slow breaths in a mostly useless attempt to collect herself, she started scrolling back through previously viewed profiles, showing Chloe their pictures and information as she went. Overall, this wasn't so bad, at least not yet.

Or, well, that would have held true, had she not suddenly arrived at one of very few possible profiles that could make this situation even more nervewracking. She actually snatched at the phone at first, hiding the screen against her chest for a brief moment. Wait, shit; that would only worsen the scenario in general. Jii gazed sheepishly up at Chloe before setting her phone back down at the speed of molasses and sliding it over in front of Chloe. ". . .I, ah...w-well, I think I'd like to message her, maybe. She's really cute, and she seems nice, and smart..." Nearly anything else would have been okay. Anything other than Chloe's own profile, that is.

Jii felt a light shiver play up her spine at Chloe's reaction; she scooped her phone back up as fast as she could manage, which was actually a bit of a blur. "I, ahh....um, I'm just gonna...message her right now." God. Fuck. This was probably the most terrifying possibility that could have happened; the fact that Chloe didn't seem particularly bothered by this and was actually playing along was...unexpected, to say the least. She hesitated for a short few moments before tapping the message button.

Staring at the blank message box, she almost wanted to give up then and there, but this was something she had to do if she was ever going to get over her romantic confidence issue. Slowly and deliberately, she started typing, holding the phone at a ridiculously guarded angle to make sure Chloe couldn't see, even though of course she would see it in just a few moments. "Hi there! I'm a bit nervous to be doing this, as it's my first time messaging anyone, but I just felt like I sort of had to with you, I guess. I'm not certain what the best way to put it is, but you really are very pretty, and I don't mind the things you mentioned about your living situation. I'd like to talk to you some more, if that's okay?"

Jii watched Chloe typing with quite a measure of vested interest, her ear twitching just slightly in anticipation. She actually jolted upright a little when her phone buzzed and nearly dropped it in her smoothie cup, scrambling to get a hold on it and hurriedly starting to type back again. "Um, y-yeah, she did...I'm actually having a conversation with her; she said she was happy to talk to me. She also, umm...complimented my hair."

Returning her attention to her message, she finished it up. "Oh, that's so nice of you to say! I think your hair looks really nice as well, and your horns look very well cared for. I guess I'm not really sure what to say at this point, other than swallow back all this anxiety and ask if you'd maybe like a date with me? I know a really nice smoothie shop that would be great for that." She sent it and set her phone down, blushing furiously when she heard Chloe's phone go off immediately after and holding her breath without realizing it as she waited to see what she said.
